HAITI: IN MEMORIAM
Haiti Earthquake
12 January 2010

This electronic condolences page is open to all UN Volunteers and staff past and present, to UN colleagues, and to members of the public who wish to express their thoughts and feelings. It complements other condolence books being compiled for those affected by the Haiti earthquake.
---------------------------------------------------------
The page has been created as a mark of respect and to honour the lives of current and former UN Volunteers who lost their lives. The disaster killed more than 100,000 Haitians, plus many people working with the United Nations in the country. We deeply mourn them all.

It was confirmed on 16 January that among the dead was Nivah Odwori, a Kenyan national working as a UN Volunteer District Coordinator with the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).  Emmanuel Rejouis, a Haitian national who had volunteered with UNV in Rwanda, Central Africa, Nigeria, South Africa and East Timor, died along with two of his young daughters.  There remain several UN workers still unaccounted for at the time of writing, including two more UN Volunteers.

A memorial service was held in Haiti on 28 January for the UN workers who died, and UNV continues to coordinate with other UN agencies on relief and recovery activities in Haiti. Click here for more information on UNV's disaster recovery activities and how to register your profile in the UNV database.

The UN's memorial website also remembers those members of the UN family who lost their lives in the earthquake and lists those confirmed dead. Visitors to the site can leave a message in the UN online condolence book (click here) or leave a message on the UNV memorial page here.

Please submit your message in the box below and email your photographs to editor@unvolunteers.org. Your messages will appear below.

Vous pouvez aussi écrire vos condoléances en français.

También puede dejar su dedicatoria en español.
