Cecilia Jacomet Newman, UN Online Volunteer (2012)Kenya Rainwater Association Annual Report cover designed by Cecilia Jacomet Newman, UN Online Volunteer (2012)
22 March 2012 Kenya:
UN Online Volunteer Cecilia Jacomet Newman from Chile, living in the USA, helped Kenya Rainwater Association (KRA) and their partner network Greater Horn of Africa Rainwater Partnership (GHARP) with the re-design of their logos. KRA and GHARP help farmers and school children in dry and arid areas of Kenya to access water and improve food security.
Cecilia’s task was part of a branding re-design exercise aiming at giving visibility to both organizations as active players in the rainwater harvesting non-profit sector in Kenya.
“[…] working with the Kenya Rainwater Association has been truly special,” she stated. “I learned so much about the serious issues faced by African farmers due to the lack of water access and the crucial work that KRA is doing in helping these farmers address these problems with rainwater harvesting systems. […] I know that however small and indirect my contribution was, it has been an experience that enriched my life in a very important way.”

Through this online collaboration Cecilia designed logos to enhance the visibility of both organizations through branding. Cecilia also assisted KRA with the cover design for its 2011 Annual Report.
“The very attractive cover of KRA’s Annual Report reflects the work of our organization, as well as being clearly linked to Kenya. […] Cecilia provided me with a lot of advice on design aspects which I have been feeding back to the organization in order to build our capacity here.”
