  UN Volunteers working to advance social justice    
The World Day of Social Justice is marked on 20 February and is an opportunity to bring attention to the barriers to social well-being that people face due to gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.  This Day serves to encourage and support the efforts of the international community in poverty eradication, the promotion of full employment, gender equity and justice for all.

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme recognizes the efforts of all those who are working to advance social justice.

On this World Day of Social Justice, meet some of the UN Volunteers providing their expertise and support to improve access to justice for all:

Protecting the rights of children

La Paz, Bolivia: Community Promoters for Human Rights are volunteers selected by their own communities to disseminate information about children’s rights and to report any rights’ violations. Part of their work focuses on promoting volunteerism as a tool to prevent violence in Bolivia. Read

Boosting youth’s employability and social inclusion

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to experience high levels of youth unemployment, social exclusion and irregular youth migration. In response, UNV has joined UNDP, UNICEF, IOM and UNFPA to implement the Youth Employability and Retention Programme. Read
