Former UN Volunteers
Lahatra Rakotondradlo, a UNV volunteer Civil Engineer from Madagascar, was deployed by UNHCR in the Democratic Republic of Congo to help identify a new campsite for a wave of people arriving en masse in Minova, a town some 50 kilometres from Goma. (UNV)
A global community

The community of former UN Volunteers going back to the first assignments in the early 1970s, is truly uniquely global. Every year, people from over 160 countries share their skills in around 130 countries to create a beneficial and long-lasting impact on people's lives. As the human face of peace and development to many around the world, you are what makes UNV unique within the UN family. You have literally been UNV’s inspiration in action.

We invite all former UN Volunteers to participate in the What you know inspires contest to share good practices on volunteerism and sustainable development. The contest is part of a set of activities that UNV is organizing in the run up to the Rio+20 Conference in June 2012.
