Exporting the 'Green revolution'

One of the Asia Youth Volunteer Programme’s priorities is solving water issues to enable efficient and sustainable agriculture. “Zambia is basically an agrarian economy where 90 percent of the population depends on agriculture for earning their livelihood,” explains UNV volunteer Rao Venkata Rama Rao. “Therefore the development of agriculture needs to be prioritized. Most Asian countries attained food self sufficiency very quickly through the ‘Green revolution’ model by adopting innovative and simple replicable technology.” (UNV)
