Extracts from the 2011 State of the World's Volunteerism Report (SWVR)
18 March 2013 The first United Nations report on volunteerism, the State of the World’s Volunteerism Report (SWVR), made the case for the recognition of volunteerism as an essential component for the sustainable, inclusive, and equitable progress of communities and nations. It represented the starting point of a broader debate. To facilitate ongoing debate, selected chapters of the original report are now available as separate publications for you to share and distribute. The objective is to support your discussions on the nature of volunteerism and its transformational powers in selected thematic areas. Hopefully you will find these practical allies for integrating volunteerism into strategies and initiatives addressing social, economic, and environmental well-being, such as the post-2015 framework or joint UN programmes.
