UNV volunteers oil the wheels of UN’s mission in DR Congo
UNV volunteer Abdul Karim Mansaray of Sierra Leone dowloads jet fuel in Beni, Eastern DRC on behalf of MONUC, currently the UN’s largest international mission (UNV/Rosario Charito dela Cruz, October 2006).Beni, DR Congo: The steady provision of jet fuel, petroleum, oil and lubricants is an essential part of daily life for 2,450 troops and 125 civilian personnel including UNV volunteers in the North Kivu province of DRC. UNV volunteer Abdul Krim Mansaray is a Fuel Assistant with MONUC, which is helping the Democratic Republic of Congo prepare for elections. He is part of the team supporting MONUC and is responsible for the steady supply of fuel and lubricants to the MONUC installation in Beni, North Kivu Province. Here he pumps A1 Jet Fuel from a vendor's trailer at Mavivi Airport in Beni. |
