From disarmament to development: five years in Liberia

From slums to students: HIV/AIDS awareness in Kathmandu

An HIV/AIDS-affected man was asked many questions by the males during the awareness campaign in Kathmandu and was later hailed for his bravery and willingness to come and talk to them. (UNV)
Two people living with HIV/AIDS came to share their experiences with the participants. At the end of the training, more than 200 residents of both genders were directly reached and trained and more are expected to be reached through these informed participants. Read

I started my UNV assignment in March of this year in the Communication for Development (C4D) section of UNICEF in Malawi, one of the poorest countries on the African continent. Being a UNV volunteer is about much more than just improving one’s skills or experiencing a new country and culture. It is really about the people on the ground, those who rely on the work of many UN agencies for their very survival. Read
