Chinese volunteers launch environmental awareness campaign

Partners launch Beijing Olympics volunteerism project

Beijing, China: UNV, UNDP and Chinese partners today launched an Olympics-based project to support volunteerism as a resource for development in China. The project will train 100,000 volunteers to support the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and promote environmental awareness, and also help develop a large-scale Volunteerism For Development (V4D) programme across China. Beijing, China: The United Nations Volunteers Programme (UNV) in China has translated the guide "Climate Crisis Solutions" into Chinese as a practical tool to help address environmental challenges in China. The translation is part of UNV's contribution to the Live Earth event, a series of concerts worldwide on 7 July to raise awareness about the climate crisis and mobilise millions of people. Read
