UNV China translates environmental guide for Live Earth
28 June 2007 Beijing, China: The United Nations Volunteers Programme (UNV) in China has translated the guide "Climate Crisis Solutions" into Chinese as a practical tool to help address environmental challenges in China. The translation is part of UNV's contribution to the Live Earth event, a series of concerts worldwide on 7 July to raise awareness about the climate crisis and mobilise millions of people. Live Earth will bring together over 2 billion people and performances of more than 150 top musicians on 7 July in New York, London, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and Hamburg. UNV is mobilising Chinese volunteers to assist with the concert in Shanghai and helping raise awareness of the issues and potential solutions. The publication provides tips on how to save the environment at home, on the job, through transportation, by shopping and in local communities. It encourages people to adapt more environmental-friendly lifestyle -- driving smaller cars, recycling newspapers, planting trees, using solar energy and more. |
