Bonn, Germany: Getting involved in the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games has proven to be a fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime experience for the 70,000 volunteers assisting the organizers in making the Games happen.

Coming from 70 countries from across the globe and outfitted with purple and red volunteer uniforms, these “Games Makers” were hard to miss in the UK throughout July and August – their work has hit the headlines and displayed the impact had by their Olympic volunteerism. Read

A visit to an indigenous community in Sucumbíos, to conduct workshops and make contributions for the proposal of a joint treaty between the ordinary court and the indigenous justice system, and present certificates to the advocates of The Treaty For Good Coexistence conceptualized by AMNKISE, an indigenous Kichwa women’s association, Lago Agrio, Ecuador. San Carlos, Colombia: UNV Executive Coordinator Flavia Pansieri was in San Carlos last Sunday 5 December, visiting the community UNV volunteers’ “Animarte” project and participating in their celebrations to mark International Volunteer Day. Volunteering was promoted as an important instrument to help reduce poverty. "Volunteer action is essential for communities to get closer to the target of achieving the MDGs”, said Flavia Pansieri. Read
