"All Together" to promote social inclusion and volunteering

Prishtina, Taukhbahce Park, Kosovo: In Prishtina, and under motto “All Together”, an event took place to promote the importance of social inclusion through respect, acceptance and tolerance. It was organized by two UN Volunteers in partnership with the local NGO HandiKOS, an organization which supports people living with disabilities. 45 children, some with disabilities  participated in this event to learn more about volunteering, social inclusion and ecology. Youth volunteers mobilized for the Rio+20 Conference

Advocating for people with disabilities

“I have always been passionate about volunteering. As soon as I arrived in Darfur, I realized that there was so much to do for this community. I needed to start advocating for the cause I have worked on my whole life: disabled persons,” says Mohammad Sarhan, UN Volunteer working with the Communications and Information Technology Section (Human Resources) for the UNAMID. Colombo, Sri Lanka: Legal Empowerment Volunteer T.V.B.U Apsara sees herself as "making the concept of 'equality before law' more realistic" for marginalized people. She volunteers via a UNV-designed scheme that helps people understand their legal rights. Read
