Opening doors to youth employment in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bihać and Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Last month UNV Field Unit Bosnia and Herzegovina was excited to participate in the official opening of the Youth Employment & Information Centres – or CISOs – in Bihać and Prijedor, located in the northwest of the country. The opening of the first of 15 CISO centres marks an exciting new chapter in supporting young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to overcome high rates of unemployment and secure the first step to better futures. Anoj Chhetri, the UNV Programme Officer for India (right) escorted Sam Sharpe, Head of the British Government Department of International Development in India (DFID) through an IVD 2010 photo exhibition held in New Delhi. The exhibit, which featured photos of tribal women volunteers, included descriptions of how volunteers have contributed towards achieving the MDGs by helping to address maternal and infant mortality among the tribal community or improve the livelihood of marginalised communities.
