Based on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) campaign and related initiatives, the United Nations Volunteers programme launched a Special Voluntary Fund (SVF) funded pilot project entitled Harnessing Volunteerism to meet the MDG Targets in June 2005. Its objective was to stimulate and support country-based voluntary engagement by civil society and volunteer-involving organizations and networks toward achievement of the MDGs.

The PDOG Research Assistant for the MDG project will conduct a desk review, under the overall guidance and supervision of the PDOG Management Specialist and in liaison with colleagues of R&D, Geographical Sections and Special Operations.
