Supporting relief and peace efforts
UNV volunteers support relief and peace efforts. They work in various capacities with UN agencies and the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations. They also assist in democratic elections and serve in projects dealing with conflict resolution and confidence building.

UNV volunteers supporting relief and peace efforts have at least three years of professional experience. They are able to work under difficult circumstances and offer a broad range of expertise, including administration, communication, electoral processes, food aid, humanitarian law, logistics and refugee settlements.

Assignments usually last from six to 12 months.

As a UNV volunteer, you offer your services on a voluntary basis. We support you through several benefits.

Volunteers at the forefront of Myanmar cyclone crisis

With a million people in need of urgent aid, thousands of local volunteers are expected to play a vital role in relief efforts in Myanmar.  Among those already active are 20 volunteers of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme currently in the country.  They are providing expertise and organizing local volunteers to help with relief and early recovery efforts.
