  World Humanitarian Day 2016    
On World Humanitarian Day, the UN and its partners are calling for global solidarity with the more than 130 million people around the world who need humanitarian assistance to survive. Under the theme of “One Humanity”, this Day highlights how the world came together in Istanbul for the World Humanitarian Summit earlier this year, and made commitments to support people affected by crisis and ensure that aid workers can safely and more effectively deliver to those in need.

In the last few years, volunteer engagement has emerged as a viable mechanism to complement the action of governments in addressing humanitarian and development challenges, particularly at the local level.   International Youth Day 2016    
The official theme of the 2016 International Youth Day is "The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production". This year's Day is about achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and focuses on the leading role of young people in ensuring poverty eradication and achieving sustainable development through sustainable consumption and production.

UNV looks for the inclusion of youth voices in the development discourse, and for improved capacity of stakeholders to support an enabling environment for regional, national and community youth volunteering for global peace and sustainable human development. Read more
