Assistance in the midst of the refugee crisis

Thessaloniki, Greece: I am serving as a UN Volunteer Interpreter with UNHCR at the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) in Greece, where I provide interpretation services for an increasing number of people every week. By assisting refugees in their communication with Greek officials, I help people understand what their options and their rights are. I feel confident that my work here in Greece will help reduce the suffering of the asylum seekers and give them hope for their future. Building resilience to climate change

Bolivia: UN Volunteers Florencio Maldonado and Diego Chirino are working on a group project called “Resilience” whose objective is to provide support to local government authorities in the Beni River and Mamore River catchment areas. This will involve reinforcing the authorities’ risk management strategies. The volunteers are also working with civil society organisations in order to raise awareness of the effects of climate change and to teach preventative farming strategies that will allow crops to be improved in the case of a disaster.  Read
