Think green, make clean

A spring clean-up was conducted at Modrac Lake in Tuzla, a north-eastern town of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Within several hours, the Centre for Ecology and Energy, the Scout Association ‘Duga’ and local community members had collected a dozen bags of waste. (UNV, 2011)

Bihać and Prijedor, Bosnia and Herzegovina: Last month UNV Field Unit Bosnia and Herzegovina was excited to participate in the official opening of the Youth Employment & Information Centres – or CISOs – in Bihać and Prijedor, located in the northwest of the country. The opening of the first of 15 CISO centres marks an exciting new chapter in supporting young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to overcome high rates of unemployment and secure the first step to better futures. 'Prepoznajmo i podržimo volontera' (Let’s recognize and support volunteers)

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina: International Volunteer Day celebrations opened a window on the contributions and accomplishments of volunteers across Bosnia and Herzegovina, in areas such as the reduction of gender-based violence, environmental clean-up activities or the improvement of social service delivery. "Let’s recognize and support volunteers" / "Prepoznajmo i podržimo volontera" – with the explicit aim of initiating a national dialogue on the critical role that volunteerism plays in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to support the formal adoption and implementation of volunteer legislation, International Volunteer Day was celebrated in the country.
