Miragoâne, Haiti: As a long-time human rights activist, wherever I am, I always try to integrate civil society, to support it and to share experiences. This is also one of the reasons why I decided to make a career break and to become a UN Volunteer with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme. While I was getting to know civil society better, in mid-November I came across the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in Miragoâne (Haiti). Working for Peace and Security within Haitian communities

Port-au-Prince, Haiti: One of the most exciting things about being a UN Volunteer is having the chance to work across diverse activities which aim to help the Haitian people in a variety of ways. Being the focal point for ten separate Community Violence Reduction events to mark International Day of Peace on 21 September gave me exactly such an opportunity. Read

The objective of the workshop Training of Trainers on writing English correspondence and reports in a peacekeeping mission, which took place in the Integrated Mission Training Centre (IMTC) in Log Base, MINUSTAH (Port-au-Prince), was to become more familiar with the uses of each type of written communication in the United Nations. It included several sections on editorial conventions related to abbreviations, capitalization, editing tips or spelling
