Bonn, Germany: For most of the attendees of the UNV Partnerships Forum 2014, the highlight was the Inspiration in Action – Blue Room Talks session.  Eight UN Volunteers from across the globe, chosen to represent the over 6,000 UN Volunteers and UNV’s various geographic and programmatic areas, took center stage to share their stories. They provided inspiring insight into their assignments, and the difference they are making within communities every day. Read

UNV signs project document with the African Union Commission

Bonn, Germany: The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme and the African Union Commission (AUC) today signed a project document on enhancing the African Union Youth Volunteer Corps for peace and development in Africa. The project is based on the previous understanding where both organizations committed to harmonizing efforts to promote volunteering as a catalyst for advancing socio-economic development. Read
UNV signs Memorandum of Understanding with Action Aid Denmark

Bonn, Germany: The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme and Action Aid Denmark reaffirmed their longstanding partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the sidelines of the UNV Partnerships Forum 2014. In 2014 Action Aid Denmark and UNV agreed to engage in new areas of collaboration, including capacity building and training of UN Volunteers, as well as local UNV partners and collaborators, such as civil society organizations and youth, and developing joint learning content. The MOU will provide a framework for this new cooperation between both organizations. Read
Historic visit of the German Federal President to the UN in Bonn

Bonn, Germany: The German Federal President, Joachim Gauck, made history on 12 September by being the first German head of state to visit the United Nations (UN) Campus in Bonn.

During his visit, Federal President Gauck honoured the work of the United Nations shortly before the 40th anniversary of Germany’s admission to the world organization. Read
