Pnohm Penh, Cambodia: The manual Ending Violence Against Women – A Guide to Working with Volunteers is now available from the Partners for Prevention project to help local Cambodian NGOs better support and work with volunteers who are trying to end violence against women and girls. Pristina, Kosovo: In November, to mark the 16 Days of Activism to End Violence against Women in Kosovo, UN Women together with members of the Security and Gender Group, launched an online campaign to raise awareness of gender-based violence. As a UN Volunteer Intern for Gender and Advocacy with UN Women in Kosovo, I was able to participate in this great initiative, which is part of the global UNiTE campaign to end violence against women. Bouake, Côte d'Ivoire: During the eight months Agnieszka Napierala was working as an election advisor for the Peacekeeping Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (ONUCI) as a UN Volunteer, she managed to talk with victims of female genital mutilation (FGM). The result of her meetings with 10 women came in the shape of a photo essay on FGM, and with one of her pictures being awarded at two of the most prestigious professional photojournalist competitions in Poland (BZ WBK Press Foto and Grand Press Photo).
