Under the direct supervision of Operation Officer, the National UN Youth Volunteer will serve as a focal point for administrative coordination of programme or project implementation, achieving results such as:

  • Monitoring status of programme/project proposals and receipt of documentation for review and approval;
  • Checking upon the process to establish projects and alert supervisors of any delays or action needed, submission of project documentation for final approval and signature; distribution of project documents to relevant parties upon approval;
  • Liaison with administrative staff on the verification and availability of funds, entry in computerized budget system and monitoring of approval processes.
  • Extensive liaison and follow-up with diverse organizational units on various administrative actions such as recruitment and appointment of personnel, travel arrangements, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services
  • Compilation and summary of basic information and data on specific programmes/project related topics or issues.
  • Regular reporting on the budget status against the established project work plan using available dashboards or pre-existing tracking methodologies.
  • Finalization of all administrative and logistical preparations required for the organisation of technical and programmatic meetings, conferences, seminars, workshop, courses and other events. This includes liaison with participants from MoH and other stakeholders.
  • Compilation and basic research of background material for technical and programmatic presentations, meetings and other events.
  • Follow-up on agreed upon activities with the relevant units and staff to take action.
  • Establishment and maintenance of filing system appropriate for each technical project or programme.
  • Compilation, formatting and editing of technical documents linked to certain project or programme activities and submission to appropriate staff for reply.
  • Information and reminders for responsible staff of follow-up dates on project activities, response or specific actions, supplying supporting material as appropriate.
  • Tracking the workflow, and monitoring the progress of work and deadlines for programme documents and follow up with the substantive offices as needed.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Under the close supervision and guidance of the ICT officer Associates, the UN Volunteer will perform procedural and some specialized activities pertaining to UNICEF’s ICT systems, which include desktop administration and server operations. Specialized activities typically pertain to the installation and routine configuration of ICT system components and user orientation. Procedural activities include all other processes that may not require the application of specialized information technology training and knowledge, such as maintaining technical and user documentation and/or serving as focal point for receipt and processing of user requests on a timely manner in compliance with UNICEF ICT rules and regulations.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  • Timely and effective Help Desk second line support is provided related to UNICEF personal computers and peripherals as well as Data center management.

  • Providing first-level support that includes receiving, processing and logging service requests.
  • Managing lifecycle of ICT incidents assigned to him/her in service management tool.

  • Maintaining ICT inventory, manuals and other documentation. This may require the incumbent to lift, move, mount, or store equipment.

  • Assists to plan and implement new IT initiatives or migration projects, including rollout of new installations, upgrades of hardware, software, or operating systems. Works closely with Release Management, IT trainer, Computer Focal Points and IT sections to ensure the success of implementation.
  • Provides input and offer suggestions during pilot testing and evaluation of new hardware, software, and applications that are to be selected as UNICEF standard.

  • Support in learning & capacity development. Manage training and courses to staff member to ensure staff development in ICT in compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations.

Secondary education
  • Completion of Secondary education supplemented with formal training at university level in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunication, Engineering. ITIL Foundation Certificate or equivalent customer support certification is an asset;
  • A University degree combined with 18 months of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of a completion of secondary education and 6 years relevant experience;

Sous la supervision directe du Chef de la section Nutrition de l’UNICEF Madagascar, le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies effectuera les tâches suivantes :

  • Support a l’ORN et au comité technique pour le renforcement de la participation des jeunes dans la nutrition
  • Support à l’ORN Analanjirofo et au comité technique pour le suivi et la mise en œuvre du plan de travail du projet de nutrition Hafavelotegna et autres activités de nutrition de l’ORN.
  • Support à l’ORN et au comite technique pour faciliter l’intégration et la participation des acteurs de thématiques (Economiques agricoles/ non agricoles, communication et autres) sensibles à la nutrition

En plus de ce qui précède, les Volontaires des Nations Unies sont censés :

  • Renforcer leurs connaissances et compréhension du concept du volontariat en lisant la documentation mise à disposition par le programme VNU, les publications externes et prendre activement part aux activités du programme VNU, par exemple s’impliquer dans les activités commémoratives de la Journée internationale des Volontaires (JIV), le 5 décembre.
  • Se familiariser et développer toute forme de volontariat traditionnel et/ou local au niveau du pays d’accueil.
  • Refléter le type et la nature des actions volontaires qu’ils entreprennent, y compris leur participation dans les réflexions substantielles.
  • Contribuer à la rédaction des articles sur les expériences de terrain à soumettre pour la publication du programme VNU/ site web, bulletin et notes de presse, etc.
  • Contribuer au Programme d’accueil des Volontaires des Nations Unies nouvellement arrivés dans le pays d’affectation ;

Promouvoir ou conseiller les groupes locaux dans l’utilisation des volontaires en ligne ou encourager les individus et les organisations à utiliser les services de volontaires en ligne quand cela est techniquement possible.

Under the direct supervision of the UNRCO Communication Analyst the UNV will be responsible for the following.

  • Layout and design of information and communication materials (i.e. banners, posters, booklets, newsletters, presentations, leaflets, books, reports, calendars, bulletins, flyers, cards, e-journals, infographics, factsheets, etc.) that are produced by the UNRCO and UN Communication Group (UNCG);
  • Produce creative and innovative visual content to be used in communication of and advocacy for the SDGs (mainly to youth), UN Tanzania social media accounts, website, events, as well as other internal and external communication materials. This includes supporting with innovative ideas for the dissemination of the SDGs and the UN Business Plan within the UN Tanzania Compound.
  • Support the dissemination of content on UN Tanzania website and social media accounts.
  • Support documentation of field visits of various events through photography and videography.
  • Improve and edit artwork, photos, charts and other graphic elements that are used by the UN.
  • Contribute innovative design ideas for visual components of UN events coordinated by UNRCO and UNCG.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending design workshops; reviewing professional publications; and participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Creatively summarizing stories from Tanzanian and International media outlets for dissemination to UN agencies and development partners.

Perform any other communications-related tasks required by the Communication Analyst, the rest of the UNRCO and the UNCG.
