Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Head of Financial Investigations or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Legal Officer will:

  • support Investigators.
  • conduct legal research and analysis pertaining to the financial aspects of war crimes, crimes against humanity, or genocide.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Global Climate Change Advisor or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Data Analyst will:

  • Support the data entry, maintenance, validation and clean up of the climate promise database and dashboard of the Promise, drawing on a number of sources (climate promise country workplans, UNDP climate portfolio dataset, NDC registry and other relevant public NDC content database)
  • Identify key trends, defining critical questions/queries and designing structured analysis based on raw datasets and complex databases
  • Generate visuals and charts based on analysis of existing data for dashboard, promise progress reports, knowledge products and other communications and advocacy materials; and
  • Support identification of lessons and results of climate promise based on analysis of data gathered in the database, working closely with the communications team.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; and

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Manager, the National UN Volunteer will support:

  1. Online Volunteering Service Delivery (Quality and Speed):
  • Screen online volunteering opportunities and registration applications submitted by host organizations in a timely manner, ensuring required information is complete, assessing compliance with established criteria, e.g. adherence to UN policies, verifying applicant organizations’ goals and activities through Internet research.
  • Provide technical support such as guiding the users in the registration process or in joining an existing account in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance and advisory on the formulation of online volunteering opportunities.
  • Support users in the selection process, and oversee online collaboration with volunteers, to ensure high level of satisfaction with the collaboration.
  • Assist in the issuance of certificates of appreciation for online volunteers at the end of the collaboration after ensuring that both parties have provided the required feedbacks on the OV platform.
  • Respond to users enquires and questions in a timely manner, and guide users on other website-related issues and problem solving.
  1. Support the daily promotion of the Online Volunteering service in the Arab States countries:
  • Lead demand generation of Online Volunteering opportunities by UN partners, public institutions, NGOs and CSOs to ensure an adequate number and quality of assignments is offered.
  • Promote online volunteering by contributing to networking efforts and building relationships with relevant organizations, organizing information meetings and workshops for target organizations and providing relevant information and assistance to achieve a better understanding of UNV Online Volunteering service.
  • Prepare and draft outreach materials such as tailored presentations and outreach messages.
  • Strengthening capacity of UNV personal through bilateral meetings with interested partners in using the Online Volunteering service.
  • Provide support and required knowledgebase for the FUs to enable them to successfully and efficiently promoting the OV service, through providing regional webinar and skype call meetings to ensure better understanding and awareness of the UNV Online Volunteering service.
  • Participate in promotional events that promote volunteer modalities of UNV among selected target groups.
  • Participate in the Regional Office communication efforts and products about UNV Online Volunteering service offering.
  • Support the layout and design Online Volunteering service information and outreach materials.

  1. Support the technical enhancements of the UNV Online Volunteering website
  • Support the IT enhancements of the OV platform (product development).

Under the direct supervision of the Anti-Corruption Programme Manager, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support UNODC anti-corruption prevention activities in Myanmar as reflected in the UNCAC Chapter II (Preventive Measures). This includes, but is not limited to, whistle-blower protection, asset declaration, anti-corruption strategies, codes of conduct, corruption risk assessments, prosecutorial and judicial integrity;
  • Work in close cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Programme Manager and provide advice on Myanmar anti-corruption policies, laws and regulations to ensure compliance with UNCAC;
  • Work with non-governmental stakeholders, including NGOs, private sector, professional associations and media, to determine how to build/strengthen coalitions and capacity to participate in the fight against corruption;
  • Support and implement capacity development initiatives in the areas of anti-corruption, integrity, transparency and public and private sector accountability based on the needs of national partners, CSOs and other stakeholders;
  • Support the development of knowledge products, based on instructive experiences and lessons learned at the national and international levels in the anticorruption domain;
  • Assist UNODC in planning, organizing and carrying out conferences, workshops and training events;
  • Assist UNODC in its fundraising efforts on anti-corruption work and considering further opportunities to promote transparency in relevant sectors in Myanmar;
  • Conduct research and propose international best practices for anti-corruption work, including to raise awareness and define grass-root initiatives targeting both the prevention and the reduction of corruption with a specific focus on the corruption in the fishery sector;

The UNV is hired to support Covid-19 safe markets awareness efforts by NGO partners to the UNDP/UNICEF/Government Urban Resilience Building Project under day-to-day guidance of the implementing partner and co-supervision of the UNDP and UNV delegated officials, the UNV Youth Community Awareness Volunteers will support market rehabilitation efforts in one of food markets in Harare, Bulawayo or Mutare as follows:

  • Lead in community awareness raising of COVID-19 in food marketplaces in Mbare, Sakubva or Bulawayo markets
  • Deliver and facilitate awareness raising, community engagement, and youth participation activities in the local area with a focus on promoting food safety and COVID-19 prevention
  • Support wide dissemination of community awareness-raising information, including briefing materials and press releases in coordination with the supervisor;
  • Support, plan community level communication activities ensuring community outreach to the public and adequate promotion of the Project as required;
  • Support the development of communication/outreach materials such as leaflets, brochures, briefs, posters, calendars, information packs, content management, norms of publishing, design, etc.;
  • Assure community-wide dissemination of the information and lessons learned;
  • Document the UNV’s experience for UNV Spotlight, and prepare end of year report on volunteer experience;
  • Work closely with municipalities, civil society organizations, community-based organizations and governmental agencies to promote project goals and ensure a wide-range communication outreach over various target groups;

  • Helpdesk Support

Maintains and logs all requests for computer requests and incidents into Service Gateway platform. Performs help desk support to an increasingly complex environment, e.g. hardware and software trouble-shooting, upgrade and installation of hardware (PC, Laptops, printer, memory, etc.) and software (Windows 10, Office 365, Citrix, etc.). Under the direct supervision of International Consultant for the development of the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2021-2025 UNDP Somalia, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following task:

  • Facilitate Country Programme Development (CPD) stakeholder consultations and analysis of the findings, in collaboration with the drafting team
  • Support the international consultant to identify programme priorities (2 to 3 pages) drawing on the Theory of Change, in support of UNDP’s contribution to the UNCF
  • Support the international consultant in the preparation of the first draft of the CPD and related annexes ensuring alignment with the NDP9, the UNCF and UNDP strategic plan. The draft CPD will also draw on the outcomes of the problem analysis and the background documents gathered during the data collection and synthesis stage of the CPD preparation.
  • Support the international consultant to prepare a first and second draft, pre-PAC, of the CPD Results and Resources Framework in line with the stipulated corporate guidance and template, ensuring alignment with the UNCF and the Corporate Strategic Plan.
  • Together with the international consultant, finalize the CPD and all cited annexes and attachments after consultation and validation with key stakeholders incorporating final comments from UNDP programme units, UNDP senior management and UNDP RBAS
Master degree or equivalent

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or above) in Social Sciences, or other relevant disciplines, with experience in programme development in crisis/post-conflict settings and social research and analysis.
