Under the direct supervision of Operation Officer, the National UN Youth Volunteer will serve as a focal point for administrative coordination of programme or project implementation, achieving results such as:

  • Monitoring status of programme/project proposals and receipt of documentation for review and approval;
  • Checking upon the process to establish projects and alert supervisors of any delays or action needed, submission of project documentation for final approval and signature; distribution of project documents to relevant parties upon approval;
  • Liaison with administrative staff on the verification and availability of funds, entry in computerized budget system and monitoring of approval processes.
  • Extensive liaison and follow-up with diverse organizational units on various administrative actions such as recruitment and appointment of personnel, travel arrangements, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services
  • Compilation and summary of basic information and data on specific programmes/project related topics or issues.
  • Regular reporting on the budget status against the established project work plan using available dashboards or pre-existing tracking methodologies.
  • Finalization of all administrative and logistical preparations required for the organisation of technical and programmatic meetings, conferences, seminars, workshop, courses and other events. This includes liaison with participants from MoH and other stakeholders.
  • Compilation and basic research of background material for technical and programmatic presentations, meetings and other events.
  • Follow-up on agreed upon activities with the relevant units and staff to take action.
  • Establishment and maintenance of filing system appropriate for each technical project or programme.
  • Compilation, formatting and editing of technical documents linked to certain project or programme activities and submission to appropriate staff for reply.
  • Information and reminders for responsible staff of follow-up dates on project activities, response or specific actions, supplying supporting material as appropriate.
  • Tracking the workflow, and monitoring the progress of work and deadlines for programme documents and follow up with the substantive offices as needed.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;

Within the delegated authority and under the overall guidance of Country Representative or his/her designated mandated representative(s), and direct supervision of the Finance Associate the UNV Finance Assistant works in close collaboration with the Programme and Operations Team in the Sudan Country Office as well as with the Operations and Programme teams in UN Women Regional office (RO) & HQ for solving complex finance-related issues and information delivery:

  • Develop emergency medical contingency plans and assist with UNCT/UNDSS’s planning for response to a mass casualty incident;

Le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies National sera intégré/e à l’équipe de l’Outcome 1 en charge de la Petite Enfance du bureau UNICEF Tunisie et va fournir un appui au volet santé du programme de coopération de l’UNICEF. De manière plus spécifique, sous la supervision directe de la spécialiste Education et DPE Team Leader de l’Outcome 1, le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies effectuera les tâches suivantes :

  • Fournir une assistance technique pour la mise en oeuvre de stratégies et approches de développement de la petite enfance dans son volet santé et nutrition ;
  • Collecter, analyser et documenter les données pertinentes pour comprendre la situation des enfants dans les domaines de la santé, de la nutrition, la petite enfance et de la prévention du VIH/Sida affectant les enfants, adolescents et femmes ;
  • Fournir un appui technique et opérationnel à toutes les étapes des processus de programmation en préparant des supports et des documentations, et en se conformant aux processus organisationnels et aux systèmes de gestion, pour soutenir la planification des programmes et la gestion axée sur les résultats (GAR) ), ainsi que le suivi et l'évaluation des résultats ;
  • Etablir les résultats intermédiaires à partir du plan de travail annuel et assurer l’administration de du plan de travail pour l’atteinte des résultats escomptés en matière de santé à travers un appui technique et de coordination, en consultation avec tous les partenaires concernés ;
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les collègues et les partenaires pour discuter des problèmes opérationnels et de mise en œuvre, élaborer des solutions, des recommandations et / ou pour alerter les décideurs et les parties prenantes appropriées pour une intervention et des décisions de plus haut niveau ;
  • Participer aux exercices de suivi et d'évaluation, aux examens des programmes et aux réexamens sectoriels annuels avec le gouvernement et d'autres partenaires pour évaluer les programmes et élaborer les rapports sur les actions / interventions requises au niveau supérieur de gestion du programme ;
  • Surveiller et rendre compte de l'utilisation des ressources du programme sectoriel santé et connexe (ressources financieres, administratives et autres), et vérifier la conformité avec l'allocation et les objectifs approuvés, les règles organisationnelles, les règlements, les procédures, ainsi que les engagements des donateurs, les normes de responsabilité;
  • Préparer des rapports de programme / projet sectoriels réguliers et obligatoires à l’attention du management, des donateurs et des partenaires afin de les tenir informés de l'avancement des activités du programme santé ;
  • Améliorer l'efficacité et l’efficience des actions santé du programme grâce à un suivi effectif de la mise en oeuvre, notamment la supervision des consultants du programme et le suivi rapproché de la mise en œuvre des activités sur le terrain (projets de digitalisation de la vaccination dans les gouvernorats de Sousse et Kasserine) ;
  • Contribuer au maintien du niveau de préparation aux urgences et participer aux actions de renforcement de capacités nationales pour la préparation et la réponse aux risques et catastrophes en lien avec les engagements clés de l’organisation (notamment les « Core Commitments for Children in Humanitarian action - CCC) ;
  • Appuyer la mise en œuvre du volet santé/nutrition du Programme de parentalite positive y compris la thématique de l’obésité ;
  • Appuyer et suivre la mise en œuvre des standards de « santé, hygiène et sécurité » de l’enfant dans les trois (3) centres de références de la petite enfance (volet santé) ;

Under the direct supervision of Motor Transport Officer,Torit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Conduct repair and maintenance services on United Nations Owned Equipment (UNOE) including 4x4s, Bus Light & Medium (Ford/Nissan), Trucks Medium/Heavy (Renault/Iveco) and Forklifts in accordance with manufacturer specifications, ensuring all safety procedures are followed when repairing and fitting replacement spare parts;
  • Perform routine/emergency related to electrical, vehicle air-conditioning and hydraulic repairs as well as maintenance of the United Nations Owned Equipment (UNOE);
  • Check and install Carlog as required, downloading data/updating vehicle Carlog system and following maintenance to the same;
  • Conduct vehicle/truck recoveries and roadside repairs in the field or area of responsibilities;
  • Assist in vehicle road test upon completion of vehicle maintenance;
  • Ensure that workshop is adequately equipped with safety tools/equipment, and ensure those equipment are in compliance with the approved existing health and safety guidelines and regulations;
  • Assist in vehicle maintenance and repair documentation, assigning spare parts and manpower cost to service orders through Umoja system;
  • Coach, mentoring and sharing experience with national colleagues to develop their work performance and professional skills in the respective specialized area;
  • Prepare and maintain warehouse inventory records, weekly and monthly technical reports and submitting to the workshop supervisor in accordance with the established UN procedures and deadlines;
  • Process of vehicle write-off cases in accordance to the established procedures;
  • Conduct vehicle inspection during handover of vehicles to UN staff. This inspection involves capturing of vehicle details , checking for damages, checking for missing tools and other fitted equipment eg. communication equipment;
  • Perform additional related duties as and when assigned by the Supervisor.
Technical/Vocational diploma
  • Degree or appropriate technical qualification in vehicle transport maintenance management, or equivalent combination of education, relevant professional training in ground transport operations.
36 Months
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in ground transport operations.
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Arabic(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge

Under the direct supervision of Chief Integrated Mission Training Centre (IMTC), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Coordinating the formulation of the Mission Training Budget as well as tracking training expenditure in different sections:
  • Coordinating the design, development, delivery and evaluation of training and development programmes with Military, Police, other mission functions and UN Country Team to ensure an integrated approach to and encompassing a range of activities including, inter alia, technical and substantive training;
  • Overseeing development and implementation of National Capacity Building programme for South Sudanese staff;
  • Coordinating staff development programmes and supporting the implementation of a National Staff Capacity Building Programme;
  • Developing strategies to effectively and efficiently meet training timetable needs;
  • Conducting Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to be used in developing Mission annual training plan to enable development of comprehensive training and development programmes that address performance gaps;
  • Identifying, advising and overseeing the development and implementation of Development and Training Initiatives and Programmes offered by Training Section;
  • Monitoring and evaluating all training initiatives and programmes and recommending improvements and revisions to meet changing and specific needs of the mission;
  • Partaking in the preparation, coordination and management of mission training budget in consultation with Chief IMTC to ensure budget preparation and utilization is done in accordance with Results Based Budgeting (RBB) principle to achieve mission training priorities;
  • Facilitating procurement activities of training services for IMTC and relevant sections.
  • Undertaking all actions required in Designing, Developing, Delivering and Evaluating training and development programmes for civilian field staff;
  • Taking the lead in developing and upgrading relevant training materials;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of the training;
  • Building capacity of National Staff working in Training Section through coaching and mentoring initiatives;
  • Collaborating with other mission functions including the mission gender advisor, HIV/AIDS advisor, staff counselor and other UN agencies to ensure that cross-cutting issues are incorporated in the design of training and development programmes.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • A degree in Education or Social Sciences or Human Resources Management.

  • Minimum 5 years (for Bachelor degree) and 2-3 years (for Master degree) of progressively responsible experience in design, delivery and evaluation of training programme involving large audiences.
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • Arabic(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
Vocational education and training, and management training
  • Solid computer skills, including full proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word etc) and other IT applications and office technology equipment;
  • Certification in ICDL and/or Microsoft Applications is desirable;
  • Fluency in English Language both oral and written is required; Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage;
