This UNV position will provide to the incumbent opportunity to improve understanding of concrete implementation of education policies and strategies. It will give her/him means to feed her/him academic reflection and such as education information management to finally formulate innovative outputs. Alongside with programming, the position aims at providing the Education Programme with ingenuous and simple feedback for enhancing programming process through the contribution to establishment of a mechanism of proper data collection and analysis as well as reporting and knowledge management. Therefore, the incumbent will have the opportunity to participate to programmatic field visits to discover what is at stake in both development and humanitarian contexts.

She/he will gain an understanding of cross sector work and will have opportunity to work as an insider for few days in other sections mainly protection, wash, nutrition and C4D.

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Education, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • the collection of data on different education projects, including emergency interventions and with a strong gender prospective;
  • Assist the EMIS Specialist and the education in emergency specialist at national level in setting up and filling a mechanism of education data monitoring including in an innovative perspective, for example based on rapid pro;
  • the analysis and development of periodic reports and knowledge management document related to education programme interventions;
  • ensure double check of the accuracy of the information.
Master degree or equivalent

The incumbent must be a dynamic, multi-functional person, who supports UNICEF with accuracy, professionalism, dedication and client orientation.

  • Advanced/ university degree (Master’s or higher) in relevant background in Education or Social Science;

Within the terms of the organization’s delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of Chief workshop Unit the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Complete maintenance and repairs of all United Nations light vehicles/equipment operated by MONUSCO in assigned area in accordance with the manufacturer’s specs and to the highest standard.

  • Assist in workshop management on a broader scale in all related Transport sub units in supervisory capacity;

  • Identify spare parts from the manufacturer parts reference book.

  • Ensure that all spare parts, filters, lubricants etc. required for each repair are correctly documented in the vehicle work order.

  • Ensure that presence within the workshop is consistent with working hours and all inspections/repair tasks assigned are completed in a timely manner.

  • Assist in recovering / repairing vehicles on-site which cannot be recovered to workshop for repairs.

  • Ensure the security of all equipment provided for use within the workshop area.

  • When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs), the incumbent is strongly encouraged to set aside dedicated time for capacity development through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job training.

  • Any other related duties as may be required.

Technical/Vocational diploma

Diploma and or Technician’s Certificate in Motor Vehicle. •Basic knowledge related to workshop management, automotive spare parts management, inventory and warehousing. Driving License up to at least ‘C’ class as well as MHE operator.

At least six (6) years of progressive experience in maintenance and repairs of light and heavy vehicle/equipment. At least, two years (2) supervisory responsibilities. Familiarity with United Nations electronics systems and procedures in the field is desirable.

  • At least five years of post-training experience.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a must; Working knowledge of French is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience in training / coaching or the interest to do so is essential.

  • Have affinity with or interest in humanitarian relief, post-conflict situations, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System

  • Knowledge in Microsoft excel, word and outlook.

Under the direct supervision of the SC-PID Director, the administrative assistant will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage all administrative matters related to Strategic Communications and Public Information;

  • Provide general administrative support to the section (recruitment, trainings, performance appraisal, job classification reviews, separation of staff etc.);

  • Assist and support the daily administrative operations of SC-PID;

  • Prepare draft routine correspondences;

  • Coordinate the induction and orientation of new staff;

  • Assist the office of SC-PID in establishing and maintaining a well-functioning filing and archive system, and develop a reliable mechanism for tracking correspondences; both incoming and outgoing correspondences (electronically and hard copy);

  • Approve various e-requests on behalf of SC-PID Director;

  • Assist with all recruitments process;

  • Support all requisitions

  • Follow-up on all administrative and technical requests;

  • Liaise with the budget focal point to provide assistance for the preparation and development of the section workplan and budget;

  • Support the budget and finance focal point;

  • Support the budget and finance focal point in the follow up of all related budget requests for outreach activities;

  • Take note of all substantive meetings of the sections and highlights the key recommended actions and make necessary follow ups when needed;

  • Assist in monitoring the participation of SCPID management to all relevant meetings conveyed by the mission leadership

  • Any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Technical/Vocational diploma

Diploma in office administration is a plus

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Transport Officer (CTO) and Regional Transport Officer, the UN Volunteer “Transport Assistant “will undertake the following Fleet Vehicle Inventory duties:

  • Redistribute transport assets meet variations in demand, ensuring maximum economy and efficiency at all times, as directed by CTO and Regional Transport Officer. Keep evidence and monitors the of assets;

  • Maintain vehicle and transport equipment inventory records for both United Nations Owned Equipment (UNOE) and Contingent Owned Equipment (COE).

  • Assist in the Bi-annual physical inventory of non-expendable transport assets in accordance with the established procedures and deadlines;

  • Assist Fleet Manager in preparation of the Mission Vehicle Establishment Committee (VEC) meetings;

  • Assist Fleet manager on issues related to life management of the UN-owned vehicle fleet and implementation of the Vehicle Replacement Policy;

  • Ensures that vehicle write-off cases ;

  • Coordinate with logistic supply chain management on vehicle inventory issues;

  • Coordinate with MOVCON for urgent delivery of Transport shipments by air, land or internal waterways;

  • Assist in the provision of inputs for reports on transport fleet and composition;

  • Assist in ensuring the constant availability of vehicles for assignments in support of one-off and emergency tasks as directed by the CTO;

  • As directed by the Fleet Manager, issue official registration (license) plate numbers to vehicles and trailers brought into the area of operation, including all UN-owned , contingent-owned vehicles, vehicles leased/ rented by the Mission, vehicles provided by the host Government and provided by any other source for the exclusive use of the Mission;

  • Maintain license plate number database;

  • Assist in the Driving Test and Driving Permit Unit:

  • Keep evidence and advise the Fleet on COE vehicles matters;

  • Assist in performing other related duties as required.

Technical/Vocational diploma

Transport and Logistics related diploma. Technical or Vocational Certificate in Logistic and Transport or other relevant fields is desirable. A valid driver’s license is required. Experience in Familiarity with United Nations systems and procedures in the field is desirable. Working within DPKO, Police or Military background is desirable.

A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in motor vehicle transport operations, vehicle fleet management or related area.
