Under the direct supervision of Human Resources Officer, the HR Assistant will:

  • Support in administration of entitlement and benefits including administering Leave Entitlements (AL, SL USL, HL) and conducting Leave Verification Exercise.

  • Support in recruitment and placement of staff: Scheduling Assessments (tests, interviews with candidates and selectin panel); Writing Interview minutes;
  • Support with in-country onboarding of newly recruited staff members (IP and Local): schedule induction briefings, share installation sheets with sections, update onboarding tracking sheet,

  • Administration of Internships/ ad hoc volunteers’ employment at JCO

  • Support with HR data analytics

  • Administration of UNLP issuance/extensions.

  • General office support, drafting and/or processing variety of correspondence and other section’s communications.
  • Setting up and maintaining HR files/records (electronic and paper) · Scheduling appointments and meetings · Maintain and generate automated databases containing HR related statistics and generating periodic reports.

  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g. Human Resources, Management, Business Administration and/or other related fields;

  • At least 3 years of work experience at the national and/or international level in Human Resources and administration; experience working with international organizations is an asset;
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills;
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team;
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences;
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures, environments and living conditions;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
  • Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others);
  • Research skills, including data collection, report writings, briefing notes, and context analysis;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic is required.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of UNICEF Education Specialist or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV will:

  • Provide technical support and assistance to the development of Learning Bridges’ materials and resources (both online and print) for students and teachers in coordination with the MOE counterparts, UINCEF education section and other stakeholders;
  • Work with stakeholders to support the process of material procurement, delivery to schools, end-user monitoring and reporting for Learning Bridges;
  • Support the development of induction training package for MOE staff, principals, teachers and other stakeholders and support the implementation of induction sessions;
  • Facilitate external and internal coordination with Learning Bridges partners, stakeholders and UNICEF sections (including Communications Section, IT etc.;
  • Provide support to any other related tasks as required or assigned by the supervisor;
  • Input into website development from an educational perspective and monitor an entire engagement on Facebook pages and other resources that support Learning Bridges;
  • Work with UNICEF’s other sections and external partners involved in community support arrangements for Learning Bridges - such as UNICEF Makani centres, youth centres etc.;
  • Participate in field monitoring activities;
  • Analyze and present both quantitative and qualitative data about the programme and online learning more widely in coordination with UNICEF.
Master degree or equivalent

  • Master’s degree with 15 years in a relevant area, e.g. education, teacher development, pedagogy, or area related to teaching and learning;
  • At least 8 years of professional work experience at the national level in education, teaching and learning, or other relevant education programmes; experience with blended learning and ICT education is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
  • Other desired/mandatory required technical knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written skills in Arabic and English; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in online distance education and blended learning, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
