Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the UNODC’s Technical Assistant for Judicial Architecture, the Assistant for Architecture will:

  • Travel to collaborate on measured and photographic surveys, collecting building data accurately;
  • Produce architectural drawings (plans, elevations, sections, etc);
  • Produce architectural diagrams, maps, schemes and infographics;
  • Liaise with and report to UNODC Architecture supervisor on visual design work related to the project;
  • Liaise with the Assistant for Graphic Design to ensure architectural design material follows graphic design concept and templates;
  • Assist the Architecture supervisor in developing drawing templates and reviewing final layouts and graphic material;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture;
  • Postgraduate degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Graphic Design or related areas will be considered an asset.
24 Months
  • 2 years of experience working with measured surveys and architectural drawings and graphics;
  • Experience with architectural measured surveys and photographic surveys;
  • Experience with producing architectural graphics, charts, maps and schemes;
  • Experience with architectural presentations from starting phase to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes;
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, norms and Technical Standards in the field of architecture.
  • Experience with producing design layouts will be an asset;
  • Academic and/or professional experience in architecture in a multicultural environment will be an asset;
  • Work experience with Justice, Human Rights, Prison System, Public Safety or related areas will be considered an asset;
  • Work experience on projects aimed at delivering social impact will be an asset;

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the UNODC’s Technical Assistant for Judicial Architecture, the Assistant for Graphic Design will:

  • Create graphic design projects for architectural technical reports in both digital and printed formats, containing design concept, visual identity, layout design, formatting, infographic material, charts style and color palette;
  • Develop Adobe Illustrator, Adobe In-design and Adobe Photoshop styles and templates;
  • Assist the supervisor in reviewing final layouts and graphic material suggesting improvements;
  • Liaise with external publishing companies to ensure graphic design material follows graphic design concept and templates;
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative charts;
  • Elaborate project infographics;
  • Turn Excel spreadsheet data into graphs or charts;
  • Advise the supervisor with regard to design style and formatting solutions, taking into account work efficiency;
  • Transform text-based communications materials into visual graphic design materials;
  • Liaise with and report to UNODC Technical Assistant for Judicial Architecture regarding visual design work related to the project;
  • Provide recommendations on the visual design style suitable for the project’s target audience;
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
  1. Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or other area related to design/architecture;
  2. Completed or uncompleted undergraduate studies in Architecture specifically will be considered an asset;

The UNV Post is paid and fulltime, and UNV work five days per week (40 hours).

Duties of the UNV include, but are not limited to:

- Supports the office’s engagement with the humanitarian community, including in its role as Global Coordinator of the Mine Action Area of Responsibility (MA AoR) within the Global Protection Cluster particularly focusing on issues related to the Afghanistan programme;

- Assists in the organization of meetings, seminars, conferences, workshops, etc. with other Agencies, Funds and Programmes as well as partners on specific humanitarian-related issues;

- Conducts research and drafts official documents related to priorities of UNMAS Afghanistan;

- Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources on assigned topics/issues particularly focusing on issues related to the Afghanistan programme;;

- Contributes to the preparation of various written documents, e.g. drafts sections of studies, background papers, etc.;

- Supports the work of the office on advocacy and outreach particularly focusing on issues related to the Afghanistan programme;;

- Performs other duties as requested by the supervisor (Senior Programme Officer Afghanistan).

Under the direct supervision of the Morocco Office Representative, the UN Volunteer will ensure:

I- Effective and efficient functioning of the Representative’s office by performing the following tasks:

- Manage the Representative’s calendar and scheduling of appointments, response to invitations, greeting of visitors, place and screening of calls.

- Draft and disseminate routine correspondence and communication to personnel as requested.

- Prepare documentation and materials for meetings.

- Maintenance of rosters of high-level partners, telephone lists, email lists

- Prepare informal translation as requested

II- Provide project management support focusing on the following tasks:

- Support the coordination of the information flow in the office, follow up on files.

- Support the implementation of project activities including organization of workshops, trainings, working meetings and other events as required.

- Prepare presentation material for meetings and workshops and keep all documentation ready for meetings.

- Organize, compile, and process documentation and information from programme team as inputs to knowledge database and documents.

- Proofread reports, translations, documentation, and correspondence.

III- Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the office focusing on the following tasks:

- Perform research to identify and synthesize information, good practices and lessons learned collected from diverse sources, on various issues, that promote knowledge development.

- Coordinate closely with programme and operations staff to identify opportunities and synergies for collaboration on knowledge management.

- Maintain a knowledge database in the office.

- Register, classify, catalogue and organize all reference materials, documents, publications, press releases.

- Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

- Participate in trainings.

IV- Provide administrative support by performing the following tasks:

- Undertake logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, events, and missions.

- Draft minutes of the meetings, as delegated.

- Make travel arrangements including travel requisitions and claims.

- Create e-requisitions in Atlas and receipt of goods or services as delegated.

- Register and dispatch outgoing communications, and follow-up distribution; keep record of reports received, classify and code materials being filed.

- Maintain and update files of reports, correspondence, and other relevant material, making sure files are properly stored and accessible

- Manage the booking of conference room and other meeting room.

Perform other duties as assigned.
