Under the direct supervision Team Leader, Sustainable and Inclusive Growth Unit the National UN Volunteer, will carry out the following tasks:

  • Support the Strategic Management Unit, and the Coordination and Safeguards Specialist in the application of the Social and Environmental Safeguards (SES) principles, and integration within and across the relevant thematic portfolios, such as biodiversity conservation, natural resources governance, climate change adaptation and promotion of rural renewable energy;
  • Support and/or provide analysis and research in priority thematic areas at the country level, including compilation and analysis of statistical data as required in support of country strategies and activities;
  • Facilitate dialogue on SES environmental and climate sustainability issues and their strategic integration across within and across thematic areas with government officials, development partners, civil society, and the private sector;
  • Support monitoring and reporting of progress related to SDGs and other national development Frameworks;
  • Participate actively in SIDA-UNDP Strategic Collaboration Framework on Environment and Climate Change, including through attending meetings (in-person and/or virtual), sharing relevant experiences, and conducting peer reviews;
  • Substantively contribute as possible to UNDP regional knowledge products and development of programming offers in regional priority areas (e.g., natural resources governance, biodiversity, climate action, energy); and
  • Enhance UNDP’s understanding and design of new approaches to environmental sustainability, sustainable climate and sustainable use of natural resources across the region by acting as a CO focal point where possible.
Master degree or equivalent

Master’s degree in social science, disaster management, environmental conservation, policy advocacy, natural resource management, or a related field

  • Familiarity and good understanding social and environmental safeguards, and at least 3 years of relevant work experience in Myanmar
  • Experience in working with senior government officials
  • Experience in teaching/training environment related courses and facilitation of consultations, workshops and trainings which include government staff, and local communities
  • Working experience in environmental safeguards in Myanmar will be an advantage
  • Experience working with government agencies, INGOs, UN agencies and civil society
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Myanmar language
  • Must be a Myanmar national

Under the direct supervision of the Morocco Office Representative, the UN Volunteer will ensure:

I- Effective and efficient functioning of the Representative’s office by performing the following tasks:

- Manage the Representative’s calendar and scheduling of appointments, response to invitations, greeting of visitors, place and screening of calls.

- Draft and disseminate routine correspondence and communication to personnel as requested.

- Prepare documentation and materials for meetings.

- Maintenance of rosters of high-level partners, telephone lists, email lists

- Prepare informal translation as requested

II- Provide project management support focusing on the following tasks:

- Support the coordination of the information flow in the office, follow up on files.

- Support the implementation of project activities including organization of workshops, trainings, working meetings and other events as required.

- Prepare presentation material for meetings and workshops and keep all documentation ready for meetings.

- Organize, compile, and process documentation and information from programme team as inputs to knowledge database and documents.

- Proofread reports, translations, documentation, and correspondence.

III- Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the office focusing on the following tasks:

- Perform research to identify and synthesize information, good practices and lessons learned collected from diverse sources, on various issues, that promote knowledge development.

- Coordinate closely with programme and operations staff to identify opportunities and synergies for collaboration on knowledge management.

- Maintain a knowledge database in the office.

- Register, classify, catalogue and organize all reference materials, documents, publications, press releases.

- Contribute to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

- Participate in trainings.

IV- Provide administrative support by performing the following tasks:

- Undertake logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for meetings, workshops, events, and missions.

- Draft minutes of the meetings, as delegated.

- Make travel arrangements including travel requisitions and claims.

- Create e-requisitions in Atlas and receipt of goods or services as delegated.

- Register and dispatch outgoing communications, and follow-up distribution; keep record of reports received, classify and code materials being filed.

- Maintain and update files of reports, correspondence, and other relevant material, making sure files are properly stored and accessible

- Manage the booking of conference room and other meeting room.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical/Vocational diploma

Business Administration or other related area.
