Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Change Management Adviser or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Ensure quarterly data collection, data analysis, reporting for the primary objective of enabling evidence-based change management.
  • Use AFRO information management processes and systems to classify, manage, store and transfer information on Transformation Agenda Initiatives.
  • Analyzes, synthesizes and disseminates methodologies, lessons learned and best practices on change monitoring and evaluation, including quality improvement.
  • Assist in identifying advocacy and communication opportunities for the Transformation Agenda, by monitoring the news and other key sources and managing internal and external communications calendar.
  • Draft a wide range of internal and external communications materials: briefings, infographics, animations, digital cards, short pagers, messages, newsletters, as well as PowerPoint, presentations, media releases, blogs, brochures and reports.
  • Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analytical notes, sections of reports and studies.
  • Identify opportunities for promoting Transformation Agenda outcomes in bulletin, newsletters, digital platforms and other tools of key partners, regional institutions, organizations and networks.
  • Regularly provide analytics reports on engagement on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other relevant channels and propose tactics and crafting content that lead to boost followers and enhance engagement with target audiences.
  • Ensure information on the website and intranet is kept up to date, by working closely with the webmaster, communications Unit. This involves the preparation of informal translations.
  • Conduct internal interviews, set up interviews, produce and edit videos, and posting stories, features, videos and photos on the main page and social media pages.

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Representative and in close cooperation with the the Logistics team, the volunteer will:

  • Coordinate COVAX cold chain / logistics and in-country supply chain readiness and support the implementation of COVAX supply chain related activities in Congo with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with programmes in defining supply interventions to meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children, and provides technical and advisory of the Supply chain, logistics and vaccine forecasting working group and through national immunization logistics working groups
  • following up with Supply Division, Shipping Forwarders, Customs, Ministry of Health and local health units on both Vaccine & Device Supply chain / Cold chain / In-country logistics readiness and implementation activities
  • Ensure that all supply chain challenges, and risk are shared with the management and adequate solution are implemented.
  • Be responsible for facilitating the rapid delivery of vaccine and associated supplies/equipment and deployment to vaccination centers / target groups.
  • Contribute to develop an implementation & monitoring framework to guide country office on supply chain / cold chain and logistics matters and ensure close monitoring of the planning and the implementation phases

  1. Plans and facilitates printed & digital communication including UNDP/RSCA’s web site, social media, intranet, CO web-based knowledge management system
  • Develops and maintains external and internal digital communications platforms such as the UNDP/RSCA website, official UNDP/RSCA country team social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.), Intranet and on-line collaboration platforms, etc
  • Design of the office web sites based on corporate requirements in cooperation with the ICT staff.
  • Plans and facilitates the development and implementation of a digital content strategy and contributes to the development of key communications and advocacy products (e.g. human-interest stories, multilingual and multimedia content, etc.).
  • Supervision and preparation of the content for the web sites and social media platforms ensuring consistency of the materials.
  • Conducts exercises exploring the applicability of new and emerging tools and techniques to digital communications and advocacy activities to reach a wider, younger audience.

  1. Lead media outreach in Africa, working closely with international and regional media:
  • Ensure the promotion and increased understanding of UNDP/RSCA’s work in the region with special attention on results and impacts achieved through development and maintenance of international media contacts and using new types of media and communication tools as appropriate;
  • Promote, advocate and raise awareness around UNDP/RSCA activities, results, flagship initiatives through a variety of communication vehicles, such as roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, report launches, etc.;
  • Build strong personal relationships with core journalists in the region to establish trustful and reliable connections with key news organizations;
  • Explore and utilize innovative and emerging communication tools and new media in support of the communications strategy;
  • Proactively market UNDP/RSCA’s program work in the media by regularly pitching UNDP/RSCA success stories and placing UNDP/RSCA experts for interviews and commentaries in print and TV/radio outlets;
  • Prepare/draft a range of materials, including talking points for senior managers, press releases & advisories, news briefs, fact sheets for inclusion in media kits and further public outreach;

  1. Facilitate capacity building and knowledge sharing, including mentoring and training communications staff in the country offices of the region:
  • Liaising with country office to communicate success stories and results, offering mentoring and advice when needed;
  • Play a key role in coaching and mentoring of UNDP/RSCA’s Communications staff, especially in the design and implementation of communications strategies;
  • Develop program personnel and key projects personnel capacities in the area of effective external communications and advocacy;

Under the direct supervision of the Senior External Relations Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Implement the communication strategy to promote a better understanding of UNHCR’s objective and activities in the host country.
  • Ensure appropriate multimedia coverage of events. This includes the production of quality videos, photographs and other related content for different channels including social media about UNHCR’s work and engagement with refugees.
  • Plan and execute campaigns and events with organized groups and local authorities to disseminate information on UNHCR and raise public awareness on refugee issues;
  • Draft and regularly update pamphlets, operational updates, briefing kits, web stories and other articles for publication in coordination with the Assistant Communications and Public Information Officer
  • Design and oversee the production of communications materials; this includes providing support to other units in producing communications materials.
  • Manage and ensure appropriate content is disseminated through UNHCR Ethiopia’s social media platforms (Twitter and Facebook), in accordance with UNHCR’s global social media strategy.
  • Maintain close working relations with External Relations and Communications focal points in the field for content gathering and mission coordination.
  • Support the unit in planning and preparing content for donor/partner meetings.
  • Keep abreast of developments on UNHCR activities in the country and respond to donor and public queries for information on all aspects of the organization’s work.

The UN Volunteer will work in the UNDP Ethiopia Country Office, in support of regional programming efforts across the CO’s programme portfolios, with a focus on early recovery and social cohesion, in the key functions listed below. S(he) will also work closely with the UNDP teams; UN agencies; and the UNDP Crisis Bureau.

Data Capture, Management and Analysis:

  • Identify key data gaps in the Crisis Risk Dashboard (CRD) for informed crisis risk tracking in the country.
  • Support a strategy and implementation plan for capturing required primary data on the crises
  • Identify and integrate additional primary and secondary data into the CRD as required by evolving needs including the development, implementation and management of new indicators and corresponding data
  • Produce and update analysis products accompanied by maps, charts, and infographics to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Collaborate with NDRMC and UN OCHA Information Management Unit to develop early recovery analysis products.

Training and Technical Support:

  • Provide substantive input on information management toward the development of guidance and training materials in support of the Country Team application of the CRD;
  • Provide maintenance and end-user technical support in issues relating to the CRD information management use, including trouble-shooting for data entry and access to the existing database;
  • Provide technical assistance in order to build capacity of staff on how to integrate data visualization approaches into their work as well as how to update and monitor existing dashboards.
  • Provide relevant technical support to the recovery and peace building programming

Conflict Prevention Coordination Support

  • Provide substantive support to produce outputs in the form of analytical products under the guidance of the UNDP Governance team leader and in collaboration with the UNDP Technical Team on the recovery and peacebuilding assessment and programming
  • Provide substantive input on data-based initiatives for conflict prevention and recovery efforts subnational hotspots.
  • Provide support to the Government of Ethiopia on data and information management when required.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Recovery and Resilience Specialist/ Head of the Strategic and Economic Unit (a,.i) the IUNV Programme officer on Inclusive Economic Growth will:

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Assistant Representative or his designated mandated representative(s), the National UN Volunteer will:

  • Support social media accounts of UNFPA Ukraine GBV Programme information campaign “Break the Circle (Facebook) and educational project “(No) trivia in relations” (Instagram) in the period of absence of contracted service provider.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of a Project Manager or his designated mandated representative(s), the UNV M&E and Reporting Assistant will:

  • Responsible for clear and timely reporting under the projects results framework, while providing for support to any ad-hoc, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting processes.
  • Review the documents provided by UNDP to obtain better understanding of the project goals, context and profiles of the targeted BMOs in Ukraine including assessments conducted by UNDP. Provide full support with data collection to regularly track changes of monitoring key indicators and the actual status of development of 27 partner business membership organizations, including, but not limited to: number of members, new members, member retention rate, share of MSMEs among members, share of women entrepreneurs among members, budget, share of members paying fees, share of income from service provision, services offered to MSMEs on a cost-recovery basis, industry-based standards or independent professional certifications developed, laws/sub-laws to which comments provided, coalitions joined or created and more.
