Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Environmental Engineering Unit (EEU), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

• Design and implement environmental controls related to Mission infrastructure to ensure compliance and efficient environmental risk management, based on HQ or Mission guidance and regulatory obligations;
• Design and implement the mission’s waste management plan in accordance with UNMISS SOPs and applicable HQ guidance to achieve the Mission’s environmental performance objectives;
• Prepare report on environmental engineering projects in the Mission;
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to identify and address environmental engineering related issues and opportunities;
• Create CAD drawings of required environmental engineering controls;
• Maintiain the technical environmental engineering line of communication to the Field Engineering Offices;
• Participate in implementation of pilot projects or tests to produce innovative solutions to situations unique to field locations;
• Perform any other tasks required to support the Engineering Section as directed by the Head of the Environmental Engineering Unit.

Under the general supervision of the Human Rights Officer/Team Leader, the UNV Associate Human Rights Officer will work with the Human Rights Team in the UNAMA South East Regional Office – Gardez

Within delegated authority, the Associate Human Rights Officer will be responsible for:

• Providing substantive guidance and operational monitoring support on issues related to protection of civilians, elimination of violence against women, children affected by armed conflict, monitoring places of detention/prohibition of torture and human rights aspects of peace and reconciliation/transitional justice;
• Drafting substantive analysis based on field monitoring and research undertaken by the Team at the direction of the Team Leader or of the Human Rights Service – Headquarters thematic Team Leaders;
• Supporting preparation of weekly and other internal reports and submissions to the Human Rights Service;
• Providing substantive advice and organisational leadership, under the supervision of the Team Leader to prepare consultations and advocacy with local governmental officials, community leaders, civil society activists, and communities affected by civilian casualty incidents;
• Organizing visits to places of detention, including facilities run by the National Directorate of Security, Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army, juvenile rehabilitation centres, and provincial prisons;
• Ensuring close internal coordination between the Human Rights Team, the Head of Field Office and other UNAMA entities through information-sharing, and providing guidance and advice on the work of the Human Rights Service;
• Representing the Human Rights Service, as appropriate, at specific official functions, meetings and thematic events related to the mandate, including protection of civilians, children affected by armed conflict, women’s rights and violence against women, detention-related issues and human rights aspects of peace processes with other UN agencies, civil society groups, humanitarian organizations, government officials, Afghan National Security Forces and the Resolute Support Mission (RSM);
• Performing Any Other Duties as required, e.g. when working with (including supervising) national staff or non-governmental counterparts; the incumbent is strongly encouraged to set aside dedicated time for capacity development of national staff through coaching, mentoring, formal and on-the-job training.

Sous la supervision directe du/de la Spécialiste Genre et Adolescence au sein de la section Protection de l’Enfant, le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies effectuera les tâches suivantes:
• Assurer le suivi et accompagner la mise en oeuvre du projet par les organisations d’en-fants et jeunes partenaires ;
• Capitaliser les lecons apprises et appuyer le travail de suivi-évaluation du projet en coor-dination avec les partenaires et les personnels en charge ;
• Faciliter le rapprochement structurel entre les organisations de la société civile, les uni-versités et les mécanismes de justice transitionnelle, notamment la CVJR, afin que la jeunesse s’implique ;
• Mettre en place les cadres et accompagner une approche « faire faire » pour permettre aux organisations d’enfants et jeunes de gagner en compétences pour développer par elles-mêmes leur cadre d’intervention et mener des actions avec des outils innovants et adaptés au Mali (réseaux sociaux, activités artistiques...) ;
• Outiller les organisations d’enfants et jeunes pour mener la mobilisation et sensibilisa-tion, y compris des jeunes survivant.es de violations des droits humains. L’initiative prendra particulièrement en compte la voix des jeunes femmes qui souffrent gravement des conflits et sont encore plus sous-représentées que les jeunes hommes dans les mécanismes de prise de décision ;
• Appuyer techniquement la CVJR pour une prise en compte effective des opinions et attentes des jeunes dans son travail, mais aussi dans l’élaboration de ses recomman-dations ;
• Sous la supervision du/de la Specialiste Genre et Adolescence, faciliter la coordination avec les agences partenaires du projet (PNUD et ASFC) ;
• Appuyer le développement et la mise a l’échelle de la participation des adolescents à l’ensemble des programmes de l’UNICEF Mali.
