Sous la conduite générale de la Représentante de l'UNFPA en Guinée, la coordination de la Représentante Adjointe, l’orientation stratégique du Spécialiste de Programme en Développement des Jeunes de l’UNFPA et la supervision directe de l’Expert national en consolidation de la paix & droits humains, en étroite collaboration avec le responsable du projet et la chargée de communication, le/la volontaire accomplira les tâches suivantes :

  • En ce qui concerne le projet d’appui à la réduction de l’instrumentalisation et des violences politico-sociales des jeunes taxi-motards en période électorale :
  • Soutenir la mise en œuvre des activités du projet ;
  • Apporter un appui technique à l’élaboration des rapports d’activités du projet et les diffuser dans les canaux appropriés tels que ciblés par UNFPA;
  • Appuyer à l’organisation des réunions techniques, ateliers de concertation, sessions de formation relatifs au Projet et en assurer une bonne visibilité;
  • Contribuer à la réalisation de la cartographie des groupements de taxi-motards ;
  • Organiser les réunions avec les autorités, les jeunes y compris les conducteurs de moto-taxis, les femmes, sur l’importance du projet et les rôles et responsabilités des parties prenantes dans la mise en œuvre ;
  • Organiser et superviser le processus d’identification des organisations de taxi-motos;
  • Soutenir des focus group des acteurs clés incluant les femmes et les associations féminines du processus sur l'identification des problèmes et les propositions de solutions pour la réduction de l'instrumentalisation sociale et politique des jeunes taxi-motards et leurs bonnes intégrations au sein des communautés ;
  • Appuyer l’Organisation les sessions de dialogue/foras communautaire ;
  • Appuyer le processus de plaidoyer auprès des autorités en faveur de l’application des textes réglementaires et autres normes contribuant à la réduction des violences au quotidien ;
  • Assurer un suivi rapproché des activités mises en œuvre par les ONGs partenaires
  • Produire les rapports hebdomadaires sur la mise en œuvre des activités et diffuser les principaux résultats dans les sites appropriés et autorisés par l’UNFPA;
  • Faciliter le partage des expériences et des informations entre les groupements des taxi-motos et les autorités locales;
  • De manière transversale :

  • Apporter une assistance technique à la mise en œuvre des projets PBF ;
  • Contribuer à la documentation des bonnes pratiques des projets PBF ;
  • Contribuer à la production des outils de communication adaptés au contexte et aux cibles ;
  • Faciliter le réseautage entre les organisations communautaires de jeunes ;
  • Fournir un support technique à la mise en œuvre des différents initiatives de l’unité jeunesse et communication du bureau ;
  • Contribuer à toute autre tâche nécessaire à la bonne exécution du Projet.
Bachelor degree or equivalent

Au moins un licence (BAC+3) ou un diplôme Universitaire équivalent en scienses et techniques de la communication, siences économiques et sociales, sociologie, gestion.

  • Motivation à contribuer à la paix et au développement et à servir les autres ;
  • Bonnes compétences interpersonnelles, bonnes compétences en matière de réseautage (networking) et de communication ;
  • Volonté à contribuer au travail en tant que membre d’une équipe ;

  • Ecrire et parler couramment le Français. La connaissance de l’Anglais serait un atout;

The aim of the joint SDG Programme is to develop a National Roadmap for a Sustainable Financial System to reorient the flow of international and local resources toward more inclusive and gender responsive sustainable in the Republic of Suriname. As such, the Gender and Human Rights UNV will supports synergies between the joint SDG Programme and UNFPA’s programme interventions.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Provide technical guidance to inform the selection of partners (including community and youth and female led organizations) for the awareness events, workshops, multi stakeholder’s dialogues and capacity building interventions during the implementation of the joint SDG Programme
● Identify capacity building needs of these partners and lead the coordination of technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity development initiatives targeted to partners.
● Provide technical support for the development of a training package on gender and human rights to strengthen the capacities of those involved in the roll-out of the joint SDG programme;
● Assist the Liaison Officer in developing a strategy to engage women and young people in all phases of the joint SDG programme
● Provide technical guidance for the development of the TOR for the consultancies for the Gender analysis including causes of gender inequality and opportunities for mitigation and the; Gender sensitive policy, systems and regulations that can create the right gender-based signals
● Supports the consultant with the analysis on relevant national Gender and Human Rights issues and the identification of opportunities to address the issues hindering desired progress;
● Assist the Liaison Officer with the conducting of studies and research and keep abreast of new policy developments and strategies, policy papers, strategy documents, national and regional plans and development frameworks in the area of gender equality and community and youth participation.
● As necessary, collaborate with the other UN Recipient Organizations such as UNDP, UNEP and FAO for those activities involving these agencies.
● Identify and establish linkages between activities under the joint SDG Programme and UNFPA activities under regular resources
● Build and strengthen multi-sectoral partnerships including with government agencies, civil society, UN Agencies and development partners for more effective and coordinated programme development and implementation as appropriate
● Produce periodic updates and briefs on the joint SDG Programme to inform stakeholders and the donor community
● Identify promising practices, technical expertise and strategic opportunities relating to the work under the joint SDG Programme and identify, develop and disseminate knowledge products, lessons learned and good practices
● Assists in creating, documenting and communicating acquired knowledge via webinars/trainings, briefing notes, traditional and social media communication pieces and, on-line discussions for staff and relevant partners.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate withintheir assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:
● Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
● Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
● Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
● Contribute to articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
● Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
● Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible;

Master degree or equivalent

Advanced higher degree (Master’s or equivalent) in, Social Science, Gender Studies, International Development, Law, Human Rights, Political Science, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Research methods or another related field.

Demonstrated interest and/or professional work experience in the field of population development and/or gender, with focus on human rights and/or participative and decision making processes.

  • Appreciation of research, monitoring and evaluation concepts and experience in programme/project management is an advantage;
  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is desirable;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, women, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to lead formation of strategies and their implementation; to build and sustain effective partnerships with UN Agencies and main constituents, coordinate and advocate effectively, communicate sensitively across different constituencies; and to negotiate and interact with donors, identify and analyse trends, opportunities and threats to fundraising;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Previous experience as a volunteer would be highly regarded as well as, flexibility and openness to learning and new experiences and, motivation to contribute towards development and serving others;

Within the delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Quality Assurance Specialist and overall guidance of the UNFPA Representative .the Population and Census Coordination Specialist UN Volunteer will:

  • Liaise with relevant Statistics Sierra Leone officials and represent UNFPA in technical level discussions around the 2020 mid-term census and feedback to the Country Office.
  • Ensure pre-enumeration and enumeration activities are on track and provide technical advice where necessary
  • Develop/consolidate an action plan for support to the successful implementation of the mid-term census and post census work, updated with results achieved on a regular basis.
  • Monitor and support Statistics Sierra Leone in the process of pre-enumeration, enumeration, cartographic, work, and compilation of census field reports.
  • Coordinate, foster and strengthen strategic partnerships with UN agencies, and other relevant multilateral and bilateral organizations that are supporting the 2020 mid-term census in Sierra Leone
  • Establish good working relationships with officials of Statistics Sierra Leone and other local stakeholders in the 2020 mid-term census
  • Support the country office in other population and development work as assigned
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
