1. Provide substantive support to the planning and design of external communication and outreach/advocacy strategies and plans
• Provide analysis for elaboration of communication strategies; ensure gender perspective;
• Integrate communication, advocacy and outreach activities into proposals for project/programmes and other initiatives, as necessary mainly related to Women Peace and Security and Governance Flagships;
• Monitor and analyze print and social media and provide analysis to RO/HQ;
• Provide inputs and support to the launch of in-country UN Women/ UN system corporate and local campaigns and special events.
2. Coordinate and contribute substantively to the development and dissemination of advocacy materials in the Mali
• Draft briefing materials both in French and English, and press releases and coordinate its dissemination through effective channels;
• Identify storylines for publication and articles;
• Promote and disseminate corporate advocacy materials for launching flagship initiatives, publications, and campaigns;
• Coordinate the translation/adaption/rewriting of information received, printing and dissemination of publications and audio-visual materials;
• Follow guidelines from HQ and RO.

3. Coordinate media relations for the UNWOMEN Mali
• Coordinate the establishment of relevant relationships;
• Maintain list of relevant media in country;
• Respond to inquiries for public and UN system information materials;
• Organize roundtable discussions, press conferences and briefing session for press, as required;
• Draft talking points.
4. Coordinate the Mali’s online presence
• Coordinate Mali’s country office FB content and maintenance based on corporate requirements;
• Coordinate Mali’s social media accounts in line with corporate social media policy;
• Upload information to knowledge management system on a regular basis, including news, updates, resources.
5. Facilitate knowledge building and sharing

• Identify and synthesize best practices and lessons learned directly linked to programme goals and activities;
• Organize and conduct training and workshops on communication and advocacy, as appropriate.
6. Others
• Support UN Women’s presidency of UNCG in 2018 and increase visibility of the United Nations in Mali
• Undertake other related tasks, as requested by the Line Manager

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief communications for developement C4D, the UN Volunteer will:

• Coordination: establish and maintain an information management network in accordance with IASC guidance to facilitate humanitarian information exchange and the promotion of data and information standards; work with first responders such as the UN disaster assessment and coordination team (UNDAC) and on-site operations and coordination centre (OSOCC) to ensure a smooth transition of information tools and services; engage with counterparts in government to ensure that information activities are coordinated and consistent with national standards and practices; provide training and expertise on the use and development of information management tools and platforms to UNICEF staff and humanitarian partners; advocate for the use of data standards and common platforms, and for the open exchange of information;
• Web Management: manage content on relevant web platforms, provide overall quality control for the platform and ensure content is current, comprehensive and follows relevant metadata standards; work with external counterparts on related web platforms such as agency and cluster websites and ReliefWeb to facilitate cross-site search and interoperability;
• Data Management: design, develop and manage databases, spreadsheets and other data tools; understand, document, and ensure the quality of high-value humanitarian data for accuracy, consistency and comparability; consolidate operational information on a regular schedule to support analysis;
• Data Analysis: organize, design and carry out the evaluation and analysis of location specific datasets through meaningful statistical techniques; participate in the development and revision of data standards (e.g. the Humanitarian Exchange Language) and advise on the application of these standards into local systems and processes; participate in the development, implementation and management of new indicators, together with its accompanying data, to be included in a Common
• Humanitarian Dataset; understand, document and ensure the quality of high-value humanitarian data for accuracy, consistency and comparability;
• Assessment Analysis: support assessment and needs analysis activities, including humanitarian needs overviews, secondary data reviews, preliminary scenario definitions and multi-cluster initial rapid assessments; provide advice on assessment design to ensure data quality; manage platforms and tools that support data collection and analysis such as KoBo Toolbox and Open Data Kit (ODK);
• Geographic Information System (GIS) & Mapping: develop and maintain spatial baseline and operational datasets in accordance with relevant standards and guidance; produce and update high-quality map products and online services; maintain a repository of spatial data and ensure that the data are documented and accessible to all humanitarian partners through local and/or online services;
• Visualization: produce and update information products such as reports, charts and infographics by turning data into graphical products to convey messages and a storyline; develop advocacy materials including posters, presentations and other visual materials;
• When working with (including supervising) national personnel or (non-)governmental counterparts, set aside dedicated time for capacity development, through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job training;
• Perform other related duties as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Sous la supervision directe du/de la Spécialiste Genre et Adolescence au sein de la section Protection de l’Enfant, le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies effectuera les tâches suivantes:
• Assurer le suivi et accompagner la mise en oeuvre du projet par les organisations d’en-fants et jeunes partenaires ;
• Capitaliser les lecons apprises et appuyer le travail de suivi-évaluation du projet en coor-dination avec les partenaires et les personnels en charge ;
• Faciliter le rapprochement structurel entre les organisations de la société civile, les uni-versités et les mécanismes de justice transitionnelle, notamment la CVJR, afin que la jeunesse s’implique ;
• Mettre en place les cadres et accompagner une approche « faire faire » pour permettre aux organisations d’enfants et jeunes de gagner en compétences pour développer par elles-mêmes leur cadre d’intervention et mener des actions avec des outils innovants et adaptés au Mali (réseaux sociaux, activités artistiques...) ;
• Outiller les organisations d’enfants et jeunes pour mener la mobilisation et sensibilisa-tion, y compris des jeunes survivant.es de violations des droits humains. L’initiative prendra particulièrement en compte la voix des jeunes femmes qui souffrent gravement des conflits et sont encore plus sous-représentées que les jeunes hommes dans les mécanismes de prise de décision ;
• Appuyer techniquement la CVJR pour une prise en compte effective des opinions et attentes des jeunes dans son travail, mais aussi dans l’élaboration de ses recomman-dations ;
• Sous la supervision du/de la Specialiste Genre et Adolescence, faciliter la coordination avec les agences partenaires du projet (PNUD et ASFC) ;
• Appuyer le développement et la mise a l’échelle de la participation des adolescents à l’ensemble des programmes de l’UNICEF Mali.
