The UN Volunteer will work in two UNRWA Francophone schools Tripoli ( Beddawi camp, Majdal school and Nahr El Bared camp at Ein Karem school) under the responsibility of the UNRWA French Office and in liaison with school principals and teachers.

Under the direct supervision of French Advisor and French Linguistic Attaché, and in connection with principals and teachers, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

For students:

- Reinforce French language level;

- Organize Recreational, physical education and artistic activities including linguistics objectives;

- Organize Cultural and scientific activities with the French Institutes of Lebanon (francophone);

- Support special needs students during French class;

- Support the organization of “Francophonie” events (show competition, video competition);

- Prepare students to take the DELF Prim and DELF school exams and assist the organization of the DELF school exam (if competence and authorization of the CIEP);

- Provide homework support;

- Cooperate with any NGO project taking place in the school in order to enhance language abilities or cultural openness.

For teachers:

- Design Pedagogical support (in liaison with the pedagogical Adviser of the French Office);

- Support teachers during French lesson;

- Give Conversation classes

For Parents and school staff:

- Give French courses for beginners;

- Organize workshops for parents within the school.

Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g. pedagogy or area related to education;

Within delegated authority, the UNV Nurse will be responsible for the following duties:

Attend the day-to-day activities at the clinic on a full-time basis and go on-call 24/7 when required. Respond to emergency calls and assist the Medical Officers in providing medical care. Perform ECG, and other medical exams such as blood tests, glucose, cholesterol, and urine exams, as required. Maintain and organize the medical clinic for any emergency, identifies and plans for clinics’ required consumables/ supplies and equipment requirements, and raise lists accordingly. Assess the needs of clients visiting the clinic ensuring good bedside manners, provide care/advice accordingly, and facilitate referral to the UN Medical Officer/ identified level 2 hospital. Assist in providing health education and participate in addressing work environment, occupational health, and other specific health issues. Maintains medical inventory and supplies and distributes medical supplies to outstations. Assist in the pharmacy, arrangement of the drugs, and medical supplies. Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Medical doctor will:

Responsibilities

Within the limits of delegated authority, the Medical officer will be responsible for performing the following duties: Clinical Duties:

1) Attend the United Nations Clinic on a full-time basis

2) Respond to acute emergencies in line with international protocols such as advance cardiovascular life support and advanced trauma life support management or Pre-Hospital Trauma life support

3) Be able to do triage and primary stabilization

4) Undertake day-to-day clinical duties, e.g. walk-in clinic, pre-placement and periodic medical examinations and immunizations;

5) Provide health education;

6) Participate in addressing work environment and occupational health issues

7) Undertake medical examinations for UN personnel.

8) Diagnose and recommend treatment to all staff visiting the Clinic daily.

9) Be on call during and outside office hours to observe and treat emergencies in the UN Clinic. Undertake house calls when required

10) Responsible for entry and periodic medical examinations for United Nations staff members who choose to use the UN Clinic for their examinations;

11) To make follow up on chronic and provide relatively accurate medical advisory. Medico Administrative Duties:

1. Promote proactive occupational health policies and best practices and procedures in the medical services in conjunction with Administration. This will include outreach to staff and dependents in the areas of preventative health.

2. Ensure that appropriate medical records are kept in a strictly confidential manner in hard copies or mediate software

3. Being part of the emergency response team and will as such work closely with partner departments in implementing casevac and mass casualty response.

4. Liaise with other dispensaries, host-nation medical facilities, and medical facilities abroad to coordinate medical evacuations.

5. Follow the United Nations established policies and procedures regarding medical clearances, sick leave, and medical evacuations. 6.Recommend medical evacuation when required to(the doctor recommends as the medical expert, submit evacuation request to UN medical Director for authorization, and facilitate medical evacuations of UN staff ). Responsible for all paperwork and reporting procedures for medical evacuations in line with UN rules and procedures.

8. Responsible for establishing good relations with reliable hospitals, private medical facilities, and blood banks and local physicians.

9. Keep constant contact with the United Nations Designated Examining Physicians to facilitate their availability as and when required;

10. Ensure that proper medical records are kept in Earthmen, in a strictly confidential manner.

11. Maintain emergency medical supplies and equipment to be used in case of emergency;

12. Replenish first aid kits and other essential medical supplies kept in other duty stations within the country

13.Recommend procurement of vaccines, medical supplies, and equipment, and ensure that inventory is kept.

14. Maintain medical records of all United Nations personnel and advise health precautionary steps to new staff members; already include above 15. Prepare and send periodic (quarterly) reports of functions, visits, medical evacuations, and treatments at the UN Clinic to Medical Officer; included below.

16. Advise on health precautionary steps to be undertaken at the duty station, and perform any other duties as considered necessary by the United Nations medical Director. Supervisory Administration:

1. Supervise, distribute work to the nurse (s) and other staff of the United Nations Clinic;

2. Manage day-to-day mission medical support operations by ensuring the availability of supplies and proper functioning of medical equipment; 3.Ensure that appropriate training programs are implemented to maintain and develop the medical capabilities (e.g. health education, HIV/AIDS prevention, first aid, and CPR).

4. Responsible for regular reporting on the UN Clinic activities, medical facilities available locally, and other statistical information as may be required. General: •Performs other related duties as required.

Under the direct supervision of the Team Leader DDR/RR-CVR, the duties of the Associate DDR Officer will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the drafting of DDR/RR and CVR support guidance, policy, procedures and methodologies to the benefit DDR/RR-CVR Division field practice;

  • Help refine processes, strategy, procedures and implementation of project specific activities related to DDR and CVR project activities;

Under the direct supervision of the WHO Malaria Technical Officer, the UN volunteer will assist the CMPE unit of the Ministry of Health to fulfil their objectives with particular focus on supporting revisions and implementation of malaria elimination policies and protocols. The UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Work with the National CMPE staff to review the existing National Malaria Elimination Surveillance and Response Guidelines, and revise the guidelines based on lessons learnt and to align with the new National Malaria Strategic Plan 2021-23;
  • Work with the CMPE, Provincial and District Malaria offices and health facility staff to improve understanding and capacity to implement the revised malaria elimination strategies and activities, specifically to:
    • Support sub-national training on the new national Malaria Elimination and Surveillance and Response Guidelines in elimination areas;
    • Improve provincial and district malaria office capacity to regularly and systematically analyse and interpret malaria elimination surveillance data in the malaria information system (DHIS2) and to address common programmatic issues;
    • Assist the provincial and district malaria staff, as well as health facility staff, to conduct effective and timely case and foci investigation and response activities (including reporting);
  • Work with the National CMPE staff to develop a national malaria elimination certification roadmap, which includes the creation of key documents, policies, reporting systems and other criteria that are essential to meet the WHO malaria elimination certification requirements;
  • Work with the CMPE and the PHEOC, which is under the national Department of Communicable Disease Control (DCDC), to improve the understanding, integration and utilization of malaria data at the PHEOC, as part of the strengthening and of this body to provide oversight and high-level support for the effective implementation of malaria elimination activities;
  • Participate in and contribute to the ongoing WHO Respectful Workplace Initiative that encourages trust, responsibility, accountability, mutual respect, open communication and where the dignity and diversity of individuals are fully embraced;
  • Undertake other tasks as required.

1. Plans and facilitates strategy advocacy and programme communications in support of the Lao PDR – UN Partnership Framework (UNPF) 2017-2021 and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2022-2025:

• Provides substantive support to the RC and UNCT in designing, implementing and monitoring the UN joint advocacy and communication strategy, promoting the UNPF/UNSDCF as the primary instrument for the planning and implementation of UN development activities in the country, in support of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;

• Researches analyzes and presents inputs to the RC and UNCT on strategic advocacy and programme communications for the 2030 Agenda to boost the impact of programmatic objectives under the UNPF/UNSDCF;

• Plans and facilitates the promotion of advocacy and communications as a tool for a participatory approach to UNPF/UNSDCF implementation and monitoring, reflecting the views and priorities of people, including those left furthest behind;

• Monitors and analyzes the media in areas related to the UN’s mandates and programmes in Lao PDR, as well as other issues relevant to UN brand and positioning;

• Provides substantive support to the RC and UNCT on public messaging and media outreach, and assists in managing reputational risks or crises around sensitive issues;

• Identifies and assesses potential issues, concerns and risks related to communications and advocacy, and suggests corrective actions to the RC and UNCT, UN Policy Advisory Team, Results Groups and other UN groups;

• Leads and facilitates the work of the UN Communications Group (UNCG) throughout the stages of the UNPF/UNSDCF cycle;

• In collaboration with the UNCG, and in coordination with the RCO colleagues undertakes data management and results reporting, prepares the annual communication plan to publicize and communicate results with a focus on the UN’s development impact;

• Assists the RC and UNCT in projecting the UN’s image positively, effectively and accurately as well as promoting transparency and accountability;

• Provides substantive support to ensure that communication performance indicators are identified, incorporated, monitored and reported on throughout the UNPF/UNSDCF cycle.

2. Coordinates and supports the UN Communication Group activities and members:

  • Facilitates cooperation among the UNCG members and supports formulation, implementation and reporting on the UNCG annual work plan and budget under the UN Joint Communication Strategy (2017-2021);
  • Facilitates communication between the UNCT and UNCG and leads the UNCG joint activities, including monthly meetings.

3. Contributes to partnership building and media relations:

• Plans and facilitates the engagement of key traditional and non-traditional partners, including government, civil society, private sector, development partners and others new as well as traditional actors on the collective 2030 Agenda and the UN’s work in-country;

• Provides substantive support to the RC and UNCT in significantly expanding public outreach on the 2030 Agenda and the UN’s role and impact in-country;

• Plans and facilitates public engagement on the UN’s role and work in-country, including through programme visits showcasing the UN’s development impact;

• Undertakes regular liaison with other partners for content development, information exchange, collaborative communication efforts, and innovative communication and advocacy tools;

• Compiles and analyzes communication experiences and shares findings with country, regional and HQ communication colleagues so that best practices benefit UN’s communication work;

• Develops and maintains close working relationships with the media, including editors and journalists in key national and international news outlets; develops, maintains and updates media relations contact list/database;

• Prepares official briefing materials, talking points, speeches, statements, op-eds and presentations as necessary.

4. Plans and facilitates digital communications:

• Develops and maintains digital external platforms such as the UN country team website as well as UN social media presence (Facebook, Twitter account etc.);

• Plans and facilitates the development and implementation of a digital content strategy and contributes to the development of key communication products (e.g. human-interest stories, photography, video, animations, etc.).

5. Provides substantive support for publications and branding management:

• Provides substantive support to the RC and UNCT on joint UN publications ensuring high-quality standards and the correct application of the UN branding guidelines;

• Prepares inputs for the RC and UNCT on the use of the UN joint brand at the country level across UN products, both offline and online.

Under the direct supervision of Assistant Country Director/Head of Governance and Participation Team, the UNV will provide support for the implementation of the Visibility and Communication Plan of Justice and Legal Empowerment Programme, PAGoDA mechanism (V&C Plan) and be responsible for activities relating to communications, advocacy and media implemented by UNDP in the PAGoDA mechanism, as well as select support to broader communication priorities of the governance and participation programmes of UNDP, as guided by annual work planning. The UNV will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support events, workshops and forums by developing communications plans aligned with the UNDP Annual Work Plan(s) and the V&C Plan;
  • Facilitate media and community relations and ensure all media coverage of UNDP is monitored and reported to staff and the regional office;
  • Support the production of Programme brochure(s) including info graphics;
  • Support the development of video stories, including the development of TOR, story line, scripts and working with filmmakers to ensure the quality of the video.
  • Develop, update and monitor social media platforms for the Programme, especially the project webpage and the project Facebook account;
  • Provide support in editing of additional website content information;
  • In coordination with the UN Viet Nam Communications team and Communications teams of UNDP and UNICEF in particular, prepare press releases, media advisories and assist the Program Team members on V&C actions when needed;
  • Provide communications support to the Program Team members in the implementation of UNDP activities, including but not limited to:
  • Support to communications and public campaigns on rights awareness, legal empowerment behavior change;
  • Development of outreach materials on legal advice and support to the rights holders;
  • Development and implementation of a comprehensive and professional legal empowerment behavior change strategy;
  • Support interventions to raise public awareness on protection of rights and access to justice for vulnerable groups, in particular for women, children, ethnic minorities and poor people;
  • Support communications in relation to legal advice and information sessions in prisons and pre-trial detention facilities and policy dialogues on justice sector reform.
  • Photograph/ coordinate photography and develop photo essays, human interest stories and /or press releases on UNDP organized events and field missions;
  • Manage an information bank with both hard and soft filing for archiving photos, stories and press coverage in relation to the Programme, PAGoDA mechanism implemented by UNDP;
  • In liaison with other members of the Communications Team of UNDP and UNICEF, maintain up to date information on UNDP V&C activities on the UN Viet Nam, and UNDP country office, regional and HQ websites;
  • Mainstream gender in the UNDP Communication work.

Bachelor degree or equivalent

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience working in communications;
  • Previous experience with the UN or other international organizations is an asset

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of UNEP's Global Environment Monitoring Unit, or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Quast Assistant for WWQA and GEMS/Water will:

  • Support the development, finalization and dissemination of key scientific products and tools within the workflows of GEMS/Water and the WWQA that are being produced by the UNEP Science Division.
  • Facilitate the coordination of WWQA workflow of interlinkages between water quality and health and actively research and support resource mobilisation
  • Support the transfer of existing GEMS/Water Capacity Development short courses to UNEP’s Moodle Platform.
  • Support the development and implementation of communication and outreach material and activities of GEMS/Water and WWQA.

Under the direct supervision an Officer in the section, the UN Youth Volunteer will be part of a multidisciplinary team implementing a new database application to track the progress of UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) Resolutions; and working on improvements to the Programme Information and Management System (PIMS). The specific tasks of the UN Youth Volunteer include the following:

  • Updates content on the newly developed application.
  • Produces regular easy to read and appealing reports and statistics on data status and application usage.
  • Drafts documentations such as user manual or guidelines and minutes of meetings.
  • Provides support to outreach sessions to introduce the UNEA Resolutions tracking database application to the various stakeholders, including member states representatives who are expected to use the application.
