UN Youth Volunteer Nour Hamayel is 26-years-old and has just completed a two-year assignment with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in her home country, the State of Palestine.

As national UN Youth Volunteer, Nour’s primarily role was Y-PEER coordinator – facilitating conversations and activities in the State of Palestine on sexual and reproductive health and HIV prevention on behalf of the UNFPA-funded Youth Peer Education Network.

Yulia graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Oriental Studies from the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow and a double Master’s degree in Public Policy and International Relations from HSE the University of Bologna.

The number of asylum applications in Trinidad and Tobago by citizens of Venezuela is on the increase. In 2017, nearly 40,000 people applied for asylum.

In response, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is working to support countries throughout the Americas and the Caribbean, including Trinidad and Tobago, by engaging in registration and profiling of the population, reinforcing reception capacity of host communities, assisting with emergency preparedness and contingency planning, and providing basic humanitarian assistance.

De janvier 2014 à octobre 2017, plus de 230 000 familles irakiennes ont fui les zones de combat et les groupes armés, selon l'Organisation internationale pour les migrations (OIM). Ces familles sont confrontées à des hauts risques de protection liés à la fracture des structures communautaires, à la séparation des familles, la précarité des structures d'accueil et les pertes de revenus. Plus de 75% des familles vivent en dehors des camps, dans des logements et des établissements informels, où les enfants et les femmes sont particulièrement vulnérables.
