Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Clinical Psychologist and in close cooperation with the Lead Clinical Psychologist, the UN Volunteer will contribute to the provision of psychosocial support to victims and witnesses interacting with UNITAD. More specifically, the UN Volunteer will:

  • The incumbent conducts pre-interview psychological assessments in accordance with the UNITAD protocol in particular on vulnerable witnesses such as children, women and victims of conflict -related sexual violence. The assessments are to identify and recommend measures for the Investigative Team to facilitate the testimony of such witnesses to the fullest possible extent in emotionally safe and reassuring environment without suffering further harm. The incumbent conducts also post-interview debriefings of vulnerable witnesses.
  • Where appropriate, the incumbent assists investigators to interview traumatized or vulnerable witnesses, in particular children and survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.
  • Participates in the provision appropriate assistance during interviews and monitors the wellbeing of all witnesses during interviews where appropriate.
  • Trains UNITAD staff members on issues relevant to witnesses' and victims' mental health and psychosocial support, secondary victimization and trauma especially with regard to children, survivors of conflict-related sexual violence and other vulnerable groups.
  • Cooperates with competent Iraqi authorities providing psychosocial, medical and mental health services. Participates with capacity-building trainings for Iraqi judicial and investigative authorities and other relevant national entities with respect to support and psychosocial assistance, and sensitivity to the needs of victims and witnesses.
  • Cooperates with the network of governmental, international and CSO service providers who have a mandate to provide psychosocial, medical and mental health services, for the purpose of facilitating access of witnesses to such services. The incumbent participates in the training and capacity-building activities for the network.
  • Performs other duties as required.

The incumbent must be a dynamic, multi-functional person, who supports UNITAD with professionalism, dedication and client orientation. The following qualifications are required:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in the field of Clinical or Forensic Psychology in combination with a specific expertise and/or post graduate studies on psychological trauma, especially on victims of sexual violence. A valid certification (or eligibility for licensing) to practice at national level in clinical psychology is required.

Description of task

Under the general leadership of the Chief of Child Protection and direct supervision of the Child Protection Specialist, UNICEF Mozambique (VAC, Child Marriage), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • With close guidance from supervisor, assist in the coordination with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Action (MGCAS) and other partners for the implementation of the child marriage and violence against children UNICEF program components (regular communication, attendance of coordination meetings, elaborate minutes, linkages with partners and with UNICEF provincial offices).
  • Under close guidance from supervisor, provide technical support to MGCAS for the reactivation of the response plan on violence against children (including child marriage), its implementation and monitoring.
  • Provide support in the implementation and reporting of the Child Marriage Global programme: participate in the selection of the consultancy work about elaboration of a position paper on temporary shelter for victims of violence and child marriage, ensure coordination with MGCAS and facilitate
  • the organization of the meetings/interviews for key stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular and close coordination with CECAP (civil society partners working on child marriage) at central and provincial level
  • Support the convergency agenda on CM and adolescent empowerment internally in UNICEF and with UNFPA and UN Women
  • Under close guidance from supervisor, participate in technical meetings with MGCAS on the evaluation of the CM Strategy as well as the evaluation follow up plan.
  • Contribute to developing a clear GBV engagement strategy within the CP section at national and provincial level, in both humanitarian and development programming
  • Under the guidance of the supervisor, undertake dedicated learning of relevant courses available on Agora and familiarize with normative and evidence-based research documents in the area of CM and VAC
  • Contribute to knowledge management through generation of human-interest stories for donor and internal UNICEF reports.

En el marco de la autoridad delegada y bajo la supervisión del Oficial de recaudación de fondos de individuos o su representante designado, el/la Voluntario/a Social Champion Team Leader II de la ONU llevará a cabo las siguientes tareas:

Manejar y desarrollar equipos de recaudación de fondos para UNICEF con enfoque entrenamiento y monitoreo de operaciones, desarrollo de habilidades blandas y metodología cara a cara (face to face) con el fin de que tanto el/ella misma, como los equipos creen conversaciones con personas en espacios públicos y/o privados, con el fin de inspirarles a contribuir con el trabajo de UNICEF en favor de las niñas, niños y adolescentes, a través de donaciones recurrentes por medio de un débito directo.

  • Participar en el proceso de selección de facers y team leaders miembros del equipo.
  • Entrenar, capacitar y desarrollar las habilidades de recaudación de fondos de los facers.
  • Entrenar capacitar y desarrollar habilidades de liderazgo y gestión de equipos de brazos derechos y próximos Team Leaders.
  • Monitorear y evaluar el desempeño del equipo a su cargo para determinar las cualidades positivas, las oportunidades de mejora y el complimiento de estándares de calidad de Social Champions.
  • Brindar retroalimentación sobre el desempeño de los facers y brazos derechos para orientar su gestión hacia las metas e indicadores definidos.
  • En coordinación con el área de Adquisición de nuevos donantes, plantear las metas e indicadores del equipo.
  • Presentar reportes y resultados diarios, semanales y mensuales al área de Adquisición de nuevos donantes.
  • Evaluar los puntos de captación de donantes más efectivos para optimizar el trabajo del equipo y recomendar nuevas alternativas.
  • En coordinación con el área de Adquisición de nuevos donantes, implementar acciones para apoyar al equipo en la consecución de sus metas mensuales.
  • Mantenerse activo en la captación de donantes cara a cara y capacitado, con el fin de tener las herramientas para guiar al equipo con el ejemplo. Alcanzar metas personales de recaudación de fondos que sirvan como modelo para motivar al equipo.

  • Mantener una actitud abierta a la retroalimentación en todo momento.
  • Sensibilizar y capacitar al equipo frente al mandato, la cultura organizacional y los programas de UNICEF en coordinación con el área de Adquisición de nuevos donantes.
  • Sensibilizar al equipo sobre su condición de voluntarios ONU, y transmitir el mandato y la cultura organizacional de UNV.

Además de lo anterior, a los Voluntarios de la ONU se les insta a integrarse al mandato del programa en el marco de su asignación y promover la acción voluntaria a través de la integración en las comunidades en el desarrollo de su trabajo. Como tales, los Voluntarios de la ONU deben dedicar parte de su tiempo de trabajo a alguna de las siguientes actividades recomendadas:

  • Fortalecer su conocimiento y entendimiento sobre el concepto de voluntariado por medio de la lectura de publicaciones pertinentes tanto del programa VNU como externas, así como desempeñar un papel activo en las actividades del programa VNU (por ejemplo, en los eventos de conmemoración del Día Internacional del Voluntariado);
  • Conocer y desarrollar las formas tradicionales y/o locales de voluntariado en el país anfitrión;

Description of task
  1. Support in the review and assessment of existing processes, in close coordination with Country Offices (CO) management and the Regional Office (RO), and recommend and lead successful implementation of process improvements in line with the emerging Business Transformation

Description of task

The Translation Specialist/Communication Associate works in close collaboration with the Strategic Planning Partnership and Communications (SPPC), programme, projects, and operations teams to provide high-quality translation services to the entire CO, as well as some communications support.

Under the direct supervision of the SPPC Coordinator, the position is responsible for the following:

A. Summary of Key Functions:

· Written translation services for UNDP Sudan Country Office.

· Oral interpretation service (Arabic-English and English-Arabic).

· General support for UNDP communications activities.

B. Written Translation services for UNDP Sudan Country Office

· Translate a wide range and variety of documents (including, but not limited to, website content, press releases, newspapers, articles, excerpts from publications, official correspondence, official documents, applicable legislation etc.) from Arabic to English and English to Arabic to ensure a finished product ready for use and dissemination, as required.

· Resolve language and translation related issues (i.e. clarification on ambiguities, technical meaning, etc) in documents, rules, regulations, etc., through consultation with authors and relevant reference material.

· Assist in matters of terminology and style to ensure uniformity and quality of documents produced by the unit.

· Work with counterpart translators within the UNDP/UN family in Sudan from time to time and submit all translated documents for final translation, checking and proof-reading as necessary.

· Liaise with Arabic translation services in the UNDP HQ and the UN HQ offices for communication, as needed.

· Proof-read the Arabic translation work of other translators on UNDP CO related documents, as needed.

· Research specific subjects, including terminological research for incorporation into the Organization's terminology database.

C. Oral interpretation service (Arabic-English and English-Arabic) and assistance

· Interpretation - from Arabic to English and vice versa - at meetings with national interlocutors, federal and state governments, and other external partners in civil society and academia.

· Provide interpretation for key international non-Arabic CO staff.

· Other interpretation tasks as needed within project implementation.

· Attend meetings as part of a team, take notes - whether directly from statements delivered in English and Arabic or from the interpretation - and subsequently use the notes to produce draft summary records.

D. Planning and implementation of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach focusing on:

· Creating, promoting, and disseminating corporate advocacy materials, including for flagship initiatives and publications such as the Human Development Report.

· Supporting bespoke, multi-channel communications campaigns around key UNDP themes and activities.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Head of UXO Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Support the development of the M&E results framework to formulate the UXO Project Document 2022-26
  • The UN volunteer will work closely with UNDP CO staff, government counterparts, and technical advisors/consultants in UNDP to formulate the UXO Project Document.
  • The M&E results framework will need to be aligned with the results framework of new 10-year national UXO strategy - SPF III (2021-30), SDGs, UNPF 2022-26, UNDP Country Programme Document (CPD) 2022-26, findings from the Capacity Needs Assessment of NRA, and recommendations and lessons learnt from the Mid-Term Evaluation and Final Evaluation of the current Project (2017-21).

  1. Support the development of Monitoring & Evaluation functions at UXO Sector level, through the capacity building support to the National Regulatory Authority for the UXO/Mine Action Sector in Lao PDR (NRA).
    • In 2022, with the support of UNDP, the NRA Office is planning to create and develop a new Monitoring & Evaluation Unit, to benefit all operators / operatiions of the UXO Sector. The UN Volunteer will support UNDP and national counterparts in developing the unit’s systems and procedures.

  1. Support the review of the Lao National Unexploded Ordnance Programme (UXO Lao) Operational plans and the operational records in the national database (Information Management System for Mine Action = IMSMA).
    • The UN volunteer will support this in-depth joint review of the UXO Lao Operational Work Plans (Survey & Clearance tasks). S/he will also support the review within UXO Lao Vientiane of the operational records in IMSMA of UNDP-funded operations, before UXO Lao Vientiane transfers the data to the NRA National Database. This will include the desk review of all supporting documents, in preparation of the field monitoring missions, and to report after the field monitoring missions.

  1. Support the joint field monitoring missions among UNDP / NRA / UXO Lao.
    • The UN volunteer will be required to undertake missions to project sites as required and approved by the UNDP Country Office. Regular field monitoring of UXO operators would assist the NRA & UXO Lao to:
      • Reinforce good working relationships and mutual understanding between UXO operators, provincial NRA offices and local authorities;
      • Support in the assessment of the compliance of UXO operators with the activities and approaches outlined in the project documents and operational work plans;
      • Collect valuable local context information and feedback about the effects of implementation of the NRA’s official policies and technical guidelines, and how NRA policies interact with those of other Government of Lao PDR sectors;
      • Support the assessment of the satisfaction of local authorities and individual landowners with the UXO sector’s contribution to rural development and community health and safety;
      • Gather information (task work plans and reports, photographs and testimony from UXO operator staff, local authorities and/or landowners) to produce case studies for use in internal and external reports and presentations.

The UNV will also support the preparation of improved plans and develop project proposals in the future, based on practical information gathered during field monitoring missions.

Task description:

The UN in Viet Nam is looking for a highly qualified, professional UN Volunteer with disabilities to take the lead in the implementation of the UNDIS, as well as its Action Plans, in UN Viet Nam.   • Provide Secretariat support for the Coordination Mechanism, including following up with stakeholders to ensure implementation of the current UNDIS Action Plan, and other related duties as required;

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Manager for Europe and CIS and within the coordination of OV Team Coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

a. Coordinating the Online Volunteering programme and service in Europe and CIS countries and focusing on:

  • Assist with organization and volunteer feedback monitoring and take action as and when relevant;
  • Screen online volunteering opportunities by organizations, ensuring clear task descriptions, context and expected development impact;
  • Guide users on other website-related issues and problem solving;

Assignment Remarks:

National UN Volunteer assignments are only open for Turkish citizens who have work permit in Turkey. Other countries’ citizens are not eligible to be shortlisted in NUNV assignments.

The duration of this assignment will be extended upon the successful deliverables of UN Volunteers in line with the expectations and targets of the assignment described in this Call for Application.

The current monthly living allowance of a national UN Volunteer in Turkey is TRY 7133 with a full coverage of private insurance and additional benefits ie access to learning platforms. There is an increase in monthly living allowance in each May. There is no pension and social security payment in UN Volunteer assignments, these costs are belonging to the person. The candidate can find the details of entitlements in the UNV Conditions of Service.
