China Youth Daily reported on the virtual meeting between the new Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, Toily Kurbanov, and the China Young Volunteers Asscoiation (CYVA). The article emphasized the achievements of the Chinese Youth Volunteer Overseas Service Programme (a full funding programme) jointly launched by UNV and CYVA, the important role of volunteering in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the future expectation of the two entities to further strengthen and expand their cooperation.
As of the end of 2020, the first batch of eight Chinese UN Youth Volunteers was deployed to seven different UN entities in five countries, namely Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Turkey and the United States of America. These volunteers are playing an active and unique role to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals.
This is the first virtual mission after the appointment of Mr Kurbanov as the Executive Coordinator of UNV.
