Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Community Security and Stabilization Programme Manager and Project Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Programme Management:

  • Support programme implementation of a wide range of community stabilization programmes
  • Support with drafting and revision of programme related documentation relevant to project implementation
  • Take roles in different operations processes relevant to project implementation
  • Support the conceptualization, drafting and execution of different documents and visibility materials supporting resource mobilization strategies
  • Coordinate efficiently with stakeholders, including support programme management in various coordination and representation forums
  • Identify potential entry points through networking and outreach and work with them to develop proposals/concept notes and activities under the overall strategic guidance of the team leader
  • Identify and conceptualize potential activities that respond appropriately to the current political situation and established program goals and objectives
  • Prepare, present, analyze, and evaluate grant concepts, applications, and grant agreement/award documents to ensure consistency with program priorities, goals, and objectives
  • Develop and finalize multiple grant agreements and other activities on an ongoing basis in a fast-paced and highly changeable environment

Assist in developing technical presentations and other content, rolling assessments, and other planning exercises under the overall guidance of the team leader

  • Assist with responding to internal and external requests for updates on the implementation of the project;
  • Support the commissions and field offices to improve their programming and reporting capacity;
  • Undertake field visits to gather information and results related to the programme;

Communications:

  • Support external communications work of the project by preparing articles, drafting newsletters and other relevant communication materials in coordination with senior management;
  • Advise and support national Communications/PI officer on the communications work (both for internal and external stakeholders);
  • Assist in drafting and preparing official communications of the project (i.e. to government counterparts, external partners and donors).
  • Any other tasks relevant to reporting and communications work.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;

Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV

Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of Office or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Programme Assistant will provide overall support for the coordination, implementation and monitoring of selected projects including projects that are innovative in nature, b) ones implemented on a pilot basis to assess new approaches and c) projects ready to be scaled up based on successful pilot-based interventions all under both the humanitarian and development nexus). The UNV will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide needed support for enhancing and reinforcing coordination and collaboration among various entities/partners;
  • Suggest new partners/experts based on comparative advantage and areas of expertise and pursue conclusion of partnership;
  • Support in assessing existing partners for possible re-engagement and/or scaling up for implementation of interventions;
  • Keep abreast of innovative approaches and successful initiatives at country, regional and global level and assess feasibility to be replicated/scaled up;
  • Contribute to preparing Terms of Reference and support in ensuring consultants are delivering tasks under the various projects;
  • Contribute in identifying research gaps to be supported/initiated;
  • Support in development/finalization/monitoring/coordination of related annual workplans with the implementing partners and provide needed support in revising workplans;
  • Provide support on projects expenditures and disbursements and timely delivery of financial reporting and ensure adequacy with activities;
  • Carry out literature/desk review and develop/prepare needed documentation;
  • Assist the communication officer in capturing best practices and human stories;
  • Review and follow up with suppliers of services i.e. consultants, to ensure completion of tasks as agreed with UNFPA,
  • Contribute to review and input on related annual, monthly, quarterly, sector/research reports, strategies, plans, donor reports, etc;
  • Ensure follow up to actions/recommendations agreed upon;
  • Provide needed information and resources as requested by UNFPA Country office, regional office and/or headquarters;
  • Participate in various coordination mechanisms as advised by supervisor ; and
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Office.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of Exploration or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Visual Anthropology Officer will:

o Researching, designing, implementing, and managing exploration software programs.

o Writing and implementing efficient code

o Deploying and training team on software tools.

o Maintain, upkeep, manage, upgrade, and regulate information and data flows of websites and apps.

o Work closely with exploration team members to support the software and data analysis related tasks for exploration products.

o Preparing materials for data communication.

o Help in building Sudan Horizon Scanners software, methodology, community, and virtual space.

Description of task
  1. Apoyo a las oficinas del PMA en Barinas, Trujillo y Yaracuy.
  2. Proporcionar apoyo técnico y asistencia en la elaboración e implementación de diversos procesos y actividades dentro de su esfera específica de actividad, respaldando la armonización con las políticas y directrices más generales en materia de programas.
  3. Proporcionar apoyo especializado para la gestión de proyectos a programas específicos para garantizar que las diversas actividades se lleven a cabo teniendo en cuenta las metas establecidas y aplicando las políticas y procedimientos del PMA.
  4. Dentro de la esfera específica de responsabilidad, elaborar una serie de informes y análisis de datos (p. ej., sobre las necesidades de asistencia alimentaria, la utilización de recursos, la marcha de los programas o las realizaciones) y poner de relieve las tendencias y aspectos problemáticos, velando por que los resultados cuantificables se adhieran a las normas institucionales y superen el control de calidad.
  5. Realizar (o asegurarse de que se realice) una labor minuciosa y oportuna de registro de datos en el marco de la esfera técnica de actividad de que se trate (p. ej., programas de asistencia o análisis de la seguridad alimentaria y la vulnerabilidad), garantizando la coherencia de la información que se presenta a los interesados.
  6. Mantener el contacto con sus homólogos internos para sostener la colaboración, la implementación y el seguimiento eficaces de las actividades de los proyectos en curso.
  7. Coordinarse y comunicar con los asociados, los organismos, las ONG y las instituciones públicas a nivel local para realizar análisis minuciosos de la situación de seguridad alimentaria y garantizar la entrega eficiente de asistencia alimentaria.
  8. Prestar apoyo al fortalecimiento de la capacidad del personal del PMA, los asociados cooperantes y el Gobierno nacional en la esfera técnica específica de que se trate.
  9. Servir de punto de contacto para la resolución de toda una serie de consultas y problemas operacionales en el marco de una determinada esfera técnica de responsabilidad.
  10. Supervisar y/o revisar el trabajo de otros funcionarios de apoyo, proporcionando asesoramiento y orientación prácticos, para contribuir a alcanzar los objetivos de conformidad con las normas y los plazos convenidos.
  11. Seguir las prácticas estándar de preparación en emergencias para estar seguro de que el PMA esté en condiciones de responder rápidamente y enviar los recursos necesarios a las zonas damnificadas al comienzo de una crisis.
