Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the unit coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Gather information and report on the human rights situation in the thematic area, including through contacts with other United Nations actors, state authorities and civil society,
  • Prepare and undertake field missions including the timely drafting of reports and follow up.
  • Conduct analysis of compliance of national legal framework and/or public policies with international human rights standards.
  • Promote dialogue between local human rights and civil society networks, local authorities and the OHCHR Office in Venezuela on measures to promote the observance of human rights in their locality.
  • Use the OHCHR database to enter cases and document allegations and violation of human rights violations.
  • Provide technical assistance and follow up to activities with counterparts and partners at different levels within the framework of the Office´s Mandate.
  • Assist in other duties relevant to the post, as requested by the Coordinator of the Unit.

  • University degree in law, political science, international relations or social science with academic studies in human rights, at least three years of experience directly related to human rights.
  • An advanced university degree (Master's) is desirable.

Experience remark

A minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of human rights at the national or international level. Experience working with/supporting civil society organizations, conducting human rights analysis, documenting individual cases of human rights violations and technical assistance and promotion of human rights desirable.

Experience in the field of Economic Social and Cultural Rights, development and/or humanitarian issues are an asset.

  • Experience working in the Latin American Region and/or knowledge of the human rights situation in Venezuela is considered an advantage.

  • Experience in the application of international human rights law, standards and protections mechanisms is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to volunteerism, previous experience as a volunteer or with human rights volunteer organizations is an advantage.

Description of task

En el marco de la autoridad delegada y bajo la supervisión del líder de la Oficina de Comunicación Estratégica e Información Pública, o su representante designado, el Voluntario de la ONU llevará a cabo las siguientes tareas:

  • Gestionar la preproducción, la producción y posproducción de las piezas audiovisuales y multimedia para la Oficina de Comunicaciones e Información Pública.
  • Desarrollar animaciones, motion graphic (After Effects) y apoyo diseño gráfico de piezas digitales.
  • Realizar la producción audiovisual de eventos de la Misión o en los que participe la Misión.
  • Apoyar el registro fotográfico de los eventos de la Misión o en los que participe la Misión.
  • Brindar apoyo a los equipos regionales, subregionales y locales en la implementación de la Estrategia de Comunicaciones.
  • Monitoreo diario de noticias y desarrollos en torno al mandato de la Misión y sus zonas de operación.
  • Apoyo en la gestión de la información interna del equipo de Información Pública, elaboración de base de datos de periodistas nacionales e internacionales.
  • Brindar apoyo en la traducción (español – inglés) de materiales de información pública.
  • Apoyo como webmaster para subir contenidos.
  • Actualizar plataformas fotográficas, y otras redes con material proveniente de las oficinas Regionales.
  • Apoyar la organización de eventos, talleres, visitas a campo con el objetivo de difundir los logros alcanzados por la Misión, en redes sociales y otros canales de comunicación, destacando el enfoque de género, interculturalidad, e inclusión del programa, en los casos que corresponda.

Carrera en Ciencias Sociales, Comunicación social, periodismo, Diseño Gráfico, Multimedia o Audiovisual.

  • Manejo avanzado de cámara de fotografía y video profesional y switcher de video y audio.

  • Con conocimientos avanzados en fotografía, video, animación y buen manejo de plataformas de la Suite de Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, Audition), También cualquier otra herramienta de edición de contenido 2D y 3D.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Representative (Operations) the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Act as inter-agency liaison through the Programme Inter-Agency Group (outcomes: CCA, new Country Cooperation Framework, extended UNDAF up to the end of 2022, among other).
  • Assist in the provision of broaden partnerships with key stakeholders within the United Nations Country Team in the preparation of the Common Country Assessment (CCA) in order to maximize the protection and solutions response for persons of concern of UNHCR.
  • Participate in the different sub groups of the UN Country Analysis Team (CAT) representing UNHCR and liaising with the corresponding UNHCR focal points
  • Provide support on programmatic aspects of developing multi-year protection and solutions strategies and annual plans with corresponding priorities taking into account corporate priorities.
  • Support Results Based Management and programme capacity in light of evolving requirements, programming approaches and gaps.
  • Support the revision and analysis of plans, mid-year and year-end reports of UNHCR office(s) in the Area of Responsibility AoR), ensure quality assurance and compliance with established policies, guidelines, procedures and standards.
  • Contribute to ensure consistent and coherent monitoring approaches, tools and systems, in line with global standards and polices and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
  • Actively contribute to UNHCRs programming of community of practice and continuously contribute to improvements of programming tools and processes.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
