Description of task

Under the direct supervision of international senior engineer, National Volunteer Site Civl Engineer will undertake the following tasks:

The main obligation of the youth volunteers is to supervise the construction and the rehabilitation works of stabilization projects in Cabo Delgado Province.

  1. Supervision of Stabilization projects:
  • Assist in assessment processes of the targeted locations in order to identify the needed plan including the procedures, items and equipment. Assist the program team to perform daily supervision tasks needed to properly implement the project and raise relevant issues to senior supervisor.
  • Conduct field visits to the different sites in order to identify issues to be followed by the senior engineers and /or to accomplish daily tasks related to the implementation including providing technical advice to the beneficiaries.
  • Assist in submission of the required Bill of Quantities (BoQs) of the relevant renovation and construction activities in coordination and cooperation with the technical teams from the Government.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and respond to queries from pot national bidders if related to BoQs and technical specifications.
  • Participate in Technical Review panels for submitted bids and review all bids against the approved BoQs and technical specifications.
  • Assist in the supervision all locations of building and provide updates, recommendation to UNDP accordingly.
  • Assist in Evaluate, check and verify Contractor’s measurements on Site.
  • Assist in Construction Inspection including inspection of materials, equipment’s to be installed.
  • Assist in checking materials received at construction/renovation sites against damages, missing parts and appropriate ratings; ensuring that the materials/equipment provided by the Contractor meets UNDP requirement and standards.
  • Assist in checking construction progress/ completion and the corresponding payments.
  • Assist in Maintaining project construction/rehabilitation records and issue correspondence, certificates, notices and instructions on behalf of UNDP to the contractor as may be required by the provisions of the construction contract documents.
  • Assist the projecr team in preparing daily and progress reports;
  • Follow up on different materials testing and relevant approvals in case needed;
  • Inspection of submitted materials, and follow up on the approval process till finalized;
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
  • Technical assistance for the UNDP stabilization Program in Pemba.

Description of task

Le/la VNU national spécialiste en communication pour le développement Polio sera chargé(e) d’initier, de développer, de mettre en œuvre, de suivre et d’évaluer toutes les interventions en communication et mobilisation sociale liées à l’initiative d’éradication de la poliomyélite, au renforcement de la vaccination de routine et, en complément et suivant les besoins, aux programmes classiques de l’UNICEF dans les districts sanitaires concernés. Il s’agira de :

  1. Contribuer au développement et à la mise en œuvre des plans de communication des districts sanitaires en faveur de l’éradication de la poliomyélite, intégrant la routine et les AVS (y compris le suivi de la gestion des vaccins), les stratégies pour la vaccination des populations spéciales (nomades, déplacés internes, retournés et refugiés) et des stratégies opérationnelles pour la surveillance à base communautaire des cas de PFA ainsi que pour la recherche des enfants incomplètement ou non vaccinés en PEV de routine ;

  1. Appuyer les équipes cadres des districts dans la formation des agents de premières lignes notamment les vaccinateurs et les relais communautaires dans le cadre de la préparation des campagnes de ripostes de très bonne qualité, dans la supervision des activités de communication et de vaccination ainsi que la collecte des données des campagnes de ripostes ;

  1. Appuyer et suivre les activités de renforcement du PEV de routine, notamment celles relatives à l’engagement communautaire pour la promotion de la demande de vaccination, la formation des acteurs en PEV pratique, le plaidoyer, la mobilisation sociale à travers la contractualisation avec des associations locales (groupements féminins, jeunes, leaders religieux), la formation des chefs traditionnels aux activités de promotion de la vaccination et de génération de la demande ;

  1. Renforcer les capacités des équipes cadres de districts sanitaires dans la gestion des interventions dans le domaine de la C4D en faveur de l’éradication de la poliomyélite et du renforcement de la vaccination de routine pour une pérennisation des acquis ;

  1. Documenter les interventions en C4D en faveur de l’éradication de la poliomyélite et du renforcement de la vaccination de routine, et capitaliser les expériences positives.

Description of task

Under the supervision of the Regional Youth Project Manager and advisor, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

Summary of Key Functions:

1. Provide support to management of ongoing project activities through the following tasks and duties:

  • Collection, analysis and presentation of information for joint planning meeting, quarterly work plans, and budget work plans to support project implementation;
  • Prepare information for Project Manager for his/her advice to donor, UNDP country offices , Implementing Partners[1] and UNDP;
  • Assist in creating project in UNDP’s financial and administrative system, prepare budget revisions, revision of project status, determination of unutilized funds;
  • Prepare and regularly update the Annual Workplan and the project budget; and

2. Ensures effective administrative and logistical support for the achievement of the outcomes of the project, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Support national project implementation activities according to UNDP workflows (ERP System, UNDP Service Request Portal, Service Centre on Demand, workshops, travel, etc);
  • Contacts with visitors and project personnel, arrangement of appointments and meetings, and/or taking minutes;
  • Compilation and preparation of briefing and presentation materials, speeches, background information and documentation for meetings and missions;
  • Maintenance of records/ documents/ files relating to the project in a user friendly manner
  • Be responsible for assigned correspondence and other administrative tasks including creating E-requisitions [2];
  • Arrangements of travel and hotel reservations, preparation of travel authorizations, processing requests for visas, identity cards and other documents;
  • Preparing correspondences relating to the implementation of the projects;
  • Making logistical arrangements for the field visits and missions of the project team;
  • Administrative support to conferences and workshops;
  • Assistance in proper control of supporting documents for payments and financial reports;
  • Check related forms delivered by UNDP Country offices, Implementing Partners for completion before submitting them to the Finance Unit, Procurement Unit or Global Shared Services Unit;
  • Proper receipting of goods and services;
  • Extracting, inputting, copying and filing data from various sources as required;
  • Maintain a proper filing system for financial records ensuring safekeeping of confidential materials; and
  • Follow up on deadlines, commitments made, actions taken and coordination of collection and submission of the reports to Programme Associate.

3. Provides support to project maintenance and assets management, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Act as a backup to the Asset Focal point in the maintenance of records on assets management; and
  • Maintenance of files and records relevant to project maintenance.

4. Support knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the BRH, focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Participation in the training for the operations/programme staff and other trainings as appropriate; and
  • Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Description of task

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Kenya Country Programme of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), this position is hosted by the Ministry of Devolution and the ASALs of Kenya. The UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Establish a link and act as a liaison between the Ministries of Devolution & ASALs, Water and Irrigation and Environment, the county governments, the UN Country Team and other partners;
  • In liaison with UNEP, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) and all partners establish the team’s work plans and set objectives & performance indicators for achievement of planned results;

Description of task

  • Support the OHCHR West Africa Regional Office to implement the work plan and in particular support the implementation of the Liptako Gourma Project
  • Provide administrative support for the implementation of the project
  • Establish and maintain cooperative contacts with government representatives, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations, UN agencies and other partners operating in the Liptako Gourma region:
  • Assist in conducting human rights capacity-building activities and in developing and implementing human rights training programmes per the Liptako Gourma project;
  • Contribute to and/or draft various reports, communications, briefing notes, statements or other products;
  • Conduct fact-finding missions and investigations into abuses/violations of human rights or humanitarian law;
  • Ensure, coordinate and supervise the timely entry of accurate and verified human rights cases into the Project database; conduct quality control and deliver statistics and trend reports as required;
  • Ensure human rights mainstreaming within UN planning and programming;
  • Ensure the integration of gender perspectives, with specific attention to issues related to women and girls, including conflict-related sexual violence, within all assigned human rights activities;
  • Represent the Liptako Gourma Project at working-level meetings, as relevant;
  • When working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-)governmental counterparts, set aside dedicated time for capacity development through coaching, mentoring and formal and on-the-job training; and
