Description of task

The Regional Family Liaison Officer will have a dual reporting line: administratively, RBFLO reports to Regional Staff Counsellor; and technically, RBFLO reports to Global Family Liaison Officer. The position will be based in Nairobi and have a regional remit. Travel is required to remote and difficult locations.

The RFLO will drive various programmes and interventions. These would expand in scope in line with the findings of surveys and focus groups. They would include but not be limited to:

  • Identifying needs, advocating and implementing creative solutions to support families to fulfil the WFP goals of inclusivity and to ensure dependants and families feel supported wherever they are located.
  • Facilitating social support through local WFP FLOCK groups to help alleviate the acute stress and isolation common during relocation or when families have to live at distance from the WFP staff member. (supporting the global Facebook group and database and the creation of local social media groups where appropriate).
  • Identifying local resources for families (mental health professionals, specialized services for children with special needs, schools, shelters, social organizations for spouses, training opportunities - language, employment networks).
  • Outreach and creation of external partnerships that can further improve support to WFP staff and their families.
  • Working across functions to maximize support to families and advocate for their needs (HR, security, admin) and acting as a liaison within the Region for family issues.
  • Contributing to developing family pages for the local pages of the WFP Wellbeing Platform/App and other communication platforms.
  • Participating in developing specific projects and programmes and raising awareness on topics such as domestic abuse/ parenting.
  • Participating in the Regional and targeted Country Wellness Committees and advocating for family activities
  • Counselling services for dependents or with staff on family specific issues

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief, Youth, Education and Advocacy Unit or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will work on:

  1. Coordinator of the UNEP sports program:
  • International Olympic Committee(OIC) partnership: With colleagues in UNEP and IOC, work to ensure the 2021 / 2022 workplan is delivered and seek out new opportunities to build out this collaboration and define the next workplan.
  • Sport Report: Project manage the delivery of a new annual report with a range of partners that will seek to outline how sport can act on the climate / nature crisis.
  • Sport for Nature: Project lead the creation of a new Sports for Nature Alliance with the International Olympic Committee and other partners, which would raise the profile of sport on this agenda in the build-up to Paris 2024, and beyond.
  • Other sports initiatives: With others, consider new relationships on a case-by-case basis to take forward that would support the objectives of the new 5 year UNEP Medium Term Strategy (which focuses on climate, nature and pollution) with sport as a medium for action / awareness on this agenda.
  • Raising the profile of this agenda internally / externally: Raise the profile of UNEPs work with sport inside UNEP, with other UN partners and at key external moments during the course of the year, including a new Ambassador work plan.

  1. Develop substantive paperwork on other agendas as / when required:
  • Fundraising: Consider how funding for this work could be taken forward with other key partners;
  • New opportunities and initiatives: Provide substantive ideas on other analogous opportunities, such as sport / video gaming, with other members of the team at key spike moments during the year.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Enterprise Risk Management Officer or her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV should have the following qualifications/requirements:

  • Coordinate audit, evaluation, review and stakeholder reporting responses across divisions, including the management of response systems and quarterly reviews for various internal and external auditing bodies.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Head of Emergency Preparedness and Response the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support coordinated humanitarian operational preparedness for, and response to, emergencies in the region, including through frontline surge, and support (remote and in-person) for the development of relevant products such as contingency plans, the Humanitarian Programme Cycle, flash updates, humanitarian financing (e.g. CERF) etc.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on humanitarian developments, disaster relief/management or emergency situations in assigned areas of Southern and Eastern Africa;
  • Follow developments in countries assigned by the supervisor, keep relevant country profiles up-to-date, interact with the Resident Coordinator’s Office coordination specialist for assigned countries, and highlight any issues of concern to feed into the daily operational update.
  • Provide frontline surge in response to new emergencies, the escalation of existing emergencies and/or fill critical gaps.
  • Make contacts and nurture relationships with key interlocuters in your countries of responsibility and thematic areas.
  • Develop or feed into any country/thematic reports/documents that might be required e.g. snapshots, outlooks, sitreps, etc.
  • Assist in the production of appeals for international assistance - including Humanitarian Needs Overviews, Humanitarian Response Plans and Flash Appeals - in the region;
  • Organize and participate in meetings, conferences and consultations with other agencies and partners on humanitarian and emergency relief-related matters in the region;
  • Support the RCO in the preparation of relevant CERF reports in countries under ROSEA’s coverage without OCHA country offices.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Senior Protection Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Protection Assistant will:

  • Observe and respect RSD transition related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Draft Resettlement referral as per required by the RSD reviewers.
  • Keep track of vulnerable cases in need of inter-unit follow for monthly dispatch to relevant units.
  • Maintain physical files to be presented to the Technical Advisory Committee in good order until the Commissioner of Refugee Affairs’ endorsement and the subsequent decision issuance.
  • Ensure accurate and regular filing of TAC profiles and of the copy of the Notification of Recognition Letters issued to persons of concern.
  • Support the registry unit in retrieving files called for RSD interview or requiring urgent RSD review.
  • Assist in mitigating fraud by reporting suspected fraud.
  • Act as a backup to prepare the RSD schedule and ascertain relevant interpreters and rooms are available to conduct scheduled RSD interviews.
  • Act as a backup to facilitate liaison with Refugee Affairs competent authorities for the joint issuance of RSD decisions personal and other relevant documents, when appropriate.
  • Act as a back up to provide counseling to persons of concern who inquire about their cases through email or telephone call. Alert and follow-up on cases with supervisor regarding any relevant protection concerns and RSD fast-tracking. Act as a backup to handle the RSD desk.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Sous la supervision directe de la Conseillère Technique Principale du projet Entrepreneuriat pour le Développement, le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies effectuera les tâches suivantes:  Identifier les opportunités pour maximiser la visibilité du projet E&D ; planifier, organiser et mettre en œuvre des événements de visibilité pour les étapes importantes du projet (c'est-à-dire les ateliers, les programmes de formations, la livraison de produits, etc.).  Planifier et développer du contenu et des messages pour les publics cibles pertinents, en arabe,en français, et éventuellement en anglais avec le soutien de l’équipe projet.  Appuyer l’élaboration des communiqués de presse, des discours, de blogset des citations pour les événements et les médias sociaux.  Assurer la gestion des réseaux sociaux pour le projet E&D et la diffusion des informations pertinentes sur les réseaux, en coordination avec la chargée de communication du bureau.  Cartographier/sélectionner les outils les plus efficaces (y compris les documents de plaidoyer et de presse, les histoires d'intérêt humain, le multimédia) et les canaux (y compris les médias, le Web et les médias sociaux, les bulletins d'information, les événements, les briefings, d'autres plateformes/forums) pour atteindre les publics cibles.  Identifier et assurer la liaison avec les principaux influenceurs des publics cibles en Tunisie, y compris les médias. Établir et maintenir une base de données des médias pour les médias du pays et assurer la liaison régulière avec les journalistes pour assurer une couverture positive et optimale du projet.  Conceptualiser, rédiger et/ou coordonner la production de matériel pour communiquer les résultats du projet en travaillant avec l'agence de publicité et de design professionnelle.  Assurer une cohérence dans la visibilité du projet et le développement d’outils de communication.  Coordonner avec les différents prestataires le développement des outils de communication et l’organisation d’évènement.  Appuyer la rédaction des Termes de références, en relation avec la communication, nécessaire à la mise en œuvre du projet E&D et des initiatives connexes.  Se déplacer dans les régions pour l'organisation d'événements et pour la couverture de visibilité.

 Très bonne connaissance des réseaux sociaux (Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, etc) Compétences et valeurs :  Au moins 3 ans d'expérience professionnelle et des compétences démontrées dans l'élaboration de matériel de communication, le partage d'informations, les activités de communication, les relations avec les médias et le développement de messages.

 Expérience antérieure de la production de documents écrits en français et arabe attrayants et faciles à lire tels que des brochures, des rapports, des communiqués de presse.

 Expérience dans le domaine de l’entrepreneuriat est un atout.
