Description of task

Under the direct supervision of international senior engineer, National Volunteer Site Civl Engineer will undertake the following tasks:

The main obligation of the youth volunteers is to supervise the construction and the rehabilitation works of stabilization projects in Cabo Delgado Province.

  1. Supervision of Stabilization projects:
  • Assist in assessment processes of the targeted locations in order to identify the needed plan including the procedures, items and equipment. Assist the program team to perform daily supervision tasks needed to properly implement the project and raise relevant issues to senior supervisor.
  • Conduct field visits to the different sites in order to identify issues to be followed by the senior engineers and /or to accomplish daily tasks related to the implementation including providing technical advice to the beneficiaries.
  • Assist in submission of the required Bill of Quantities (BoQs) of the relevant renovation and construction activities in coordination and cooperation with the technical teams from the Government.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and respond to queries from pot national bidders if related to BoQs and technical specifications.
  • Participate in Technical Review panels for submitted bids and review all bids against the approved BoQs and technical specifications.
  • Assist in the supervision all locations of building and provide updates, recommendation to UNDP accordingly.
  • Assist in Evaluate, check and verify Contractor’s measurements on Site.
  • Assist in Construction Inspection including inspection of materials, equipment’s to be installed.
  • Assist in checking materials received at construction/renovation sites against damages, missing parts and appropriate ratings; ensuring that the materials/equipment provided by the Contractor meets UNDP requirement and standards.
  • Assist in checking construction progress/ completion and the corresponding payments.
  • Assist in Maintaining project construction/rehabilitation records and issue correspondence, certificates, notices and instructions on behalf of UNDP to the contractor as may be required by the provisions of the construction contract documents.
  • Assist the projecr team in preparing daily and progress reports;
  • Follow up on different materials testing and relevant approvals in case needed;
  • Inspection of submitted materials, and follow up on the approval process till finalized;
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
  • Technical assistance for the UNDP stabilization Program in Pemba.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Associate Livelihoods Officer or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Livelihood and Economic Inclusion Assistant will:

Explore partnerships with relevant stakeholders to enhance economic inclusion of UNHCR PoC. This includes working with economic development agencies to adapt their programmes to become inclusive of UNHCR PoC, working with the private sector to enhance inclusion of UNHCR PoC in their labour force and supply chains, working with financial service providers to enhance financial inclusion, and working with public and private sector service providers to include UNHCR PoC in

  • supporting services (business development, micro-finance, training, saving accounts, poverty alleviation and social protection, etc.).
  • Support work with the multi-functional team, more specifically with the Protection Unit, to collect information about the legal framework for the right to work and rights at work.
  • Support the implementation of socioeconomic and wealth ranking surveys to inform targeting, monitoring and facilitation of the engagement of development programmes.
  • Participate in necessary assessments in collaboration with relevant private and public stakeholders, including impact assessments on local economies and surveys that help to inform interventions and identify investment and funding opportunities that enhance the economic inclusion of UNHCR PoC.
  • In case UNHCR is implementing specific livelihoods activities, work closely with and provide technical assistance on livelihoods interventions to help ensure they are market-based, and that the role of UNHCR has been strategically determined in consideration of its comparative advantage vis-à-vis other partners.
  • Prepare field reports and other relevant reports relating to livelihoods and make recommendations for interventions that enhance PoC economic inclusion to the designated officer.
  • Provide overall support to the supervisor including assistance in the organization of meetings, workshops and working sessions.
  • Organize and participate in workshops, training programmes, monitoring visits and working groups with regards to livelihood programming.
  • Draft routine documents contribute to assessments and participate in inter-agency meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Human Resources Specialist, the UNV Human Resources Officer will perform the following tasks:

1. Business Partnering

  • Through research of policies and analysis of data, provide support to the HR Business Partners in advising their clients on HR-related needs and developing subsequent plans of action.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to clients on HR processes and policies, ensuring the highest level of client-orientation.
  • Proactively advise clients on the resolution of human resources issues ensuring equitable and transparent solutions that protects both the staff and organizations interests in accordance with policies, regulations and procedures.

2. Strategic Human Resources

3. Support to Implementation of assigned Human Resources Services

  • Provide support to various HR services (recruitment, onboarding, career development, performance management, data analytics, learning & development etc.) to help the HR department in implementing efficient client services that help either attract, retain and/or motivate staff of the highest caliber.
  • When assigned casework in the relevant area on either a routine or non-routine basis, analyze and synthesize issues and problems, and interpret established, formal guidelines to address and recommend solutions or further actions required.

4. Learning and Capacity Development

  • In collaboration with business owners, support the design and delivery of learning and development plans for staff.
  • Contribute to the mapping of competencies for all staff included in the assigned client portfolio, assisting in the development of a comprehensive framework in support of the development of the talent pipeline.
  • Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients/stakeholders.
  • Implement onboarding atrategy and actions and provide orientation briefing to new staff.

5. HR Data Analytics

  • Collect, interpret and analyze HR data to help inform decision making on HR processes and strategies.

Description of task

Under the direct guidance and supervision of the Gender Programme Specialist, UNICEF Mozambique country Office, the UN Volunteer supporting the implementation of the Spotlight Initiative in Mozambique. The UNV contributes to the effective management and monitoring of the Spotlight Initiative in Mozambique by providing substantive inputs to programme monitoring, implementation, and evaluation. S/he works closely and coordinates with other UN partner agencies. S/he guides and facilitates the implementation of the Spotlight programme by monitoring results achieved during implementation and ensuring appropriate application of systems and procedures and develops enhancements if necessary; Key Task include.

Provide substantive technical support to the implementation and management and coordination of the Spotlight Initiative programme for UNICEF:

  • Coordinate the overall Spotlight Initiative programme work plan development and implementation within UNICEF sections (Child protection, CAP and Education) inline with the programme document;
  • Gather inputs and coordinate the preparation of work-plans, periodic narrative progress reports and expenditures status reports;
  • Provide technical assistance to and support staff and implementing partners in implementation of phase II Spotlight initiative
  • Ensure programme meets expectations as specified in programme document, and update senior management and Spotlight Technical and Coordination teams as required
  • Establish a systems for project planning, implementation and monitoring, in collaboration with relevant UNICEF sections;
  • Record and maintain documents on relevant Programme activities, issues, and risks.
  • Coordinates programmes/projects implementation establishing collaborative relationships with UN partner agencies, experts, government counterparts and other partners facilitating timely and efficient delivery of inputs.

Coordination with Other RUNOs and Government partners

  • Coordinates with other UN partner agencies and Spotlight staff, to ensure coherency and quality of the implementation of the programme.
  • Coordinate relationships with national partners to support implementation of the Spotlight Initiative programme, raise potential problems and suggest solutions.
  • Coordinate technical workshops and webinars; facilitate workshop sessions;
  • Analyze emerging needs and provide suggestions for technical follow up
  • Identify capacity building needs and support partners through technical assistance, mentoring, training and capacity development initiatives, as needed.

Coordinate the monitoring and reporting on the Spotlight Initiative programme:

  • Gather and compile all information necessary for monitoring and reporting on programmes and projects from the planning to the evaluation stages;
  • Monitor the implementation of activities and the expenditure of funds;
  • Conducts field visits to monitor field level activities of the programme.
  • Draft and provide inputs to annual and quarterly reports; coordinate the submission of financial and narrative reports; to HQ and RCO in coordination with sections
