Description of task

The UN volunteers will be based in the Project Management Office, located in the Beijing Volunteer Service Federation office. Under the primary supervision of the National Programme Manager ( NPM ) and secondary supervision of the Country Coordinator of UNV in China, working closely with UNV China and the PMO staff, the UN Volunteers will undertake the following tasks:

Assisting NPM with results oriented project management and implementation.

  • Assist in planning of the project implementation including the development of the annual work plans, terms of references and other project management documents as needed
  • Provide hands-on planning and support to the implementation of project activities
  • Ensure monitoring of timeliness and quality of project implementation
  • Prepare financial reports and disbursement plan within timely frawework
  • Prepare various reports to summarize the key progress/suggestions for adjustment by referring to outputs and activities
  • Draft quarterly and yearly progress reports to be submitted to UNV/UNDP and CICETE offices
  • Report to UNV on the project implementation regularly. Support any missions or events upon requests from UNV as project site visits, promotional articles, success stories and good practices, including content sharing and photos, and establish of UN Volunteers Alumni network.
  • Other related tasks assigned by NPM

Facilitating Monitoring and communication among key partners and participating volunteering involving organizations.

  • Maintain regular project reporting mechanism through daily communication and monthly project meetings arrangement between PMO, CICETE, UNV, and UNDP.
  • Develop and implement the M&E framework to ensure regular, mid-year and year end monitoring and evaluation by aligning with project outputs and results and make technical suggestions on adjustment
  • Ensure internal communication with other departments located in BVF and within Beijing Youth League for effectively planning and implementing project activities
  • Maintain regular communication between CICETE, UNV, UNDP and other key stakeholders on project financial management and respond promptly to requests for budget preparation, budget revision and project financial reporting

Facilitating the management of knowledge products and multilateral knowledge sharing and learning

  • Collect, analyse and compile relevant data, information in the areas and contribut to the international and cross-country learning and sharing initiatives
  • Coordinate among academia, UNV and local partners in the drafting of the Status of China volunteerism report and compile policy recommendations and conduct research on international partnerships and cooperation
  • Facilitate the organization of international conference/forum to support multilateral knowledge exchanges and experience sharing
  • Support the translation in both Chinese and English for key events, publication, daily communication with UNV HQ, Regional offices and Field Unit as well as other ad hoc translation work

Develop PMO advocacy strategy to promote the project results and youth engagement for overseas volunteering programme through new social media platform, websites etc

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Programme Analyst (Country Coordinator) or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the Programme Support Associate will:

Assistance with advocacy, partnerships and demand generation for onsite and online volunteers

  • Support outreach activities towards UN host entities, for information on UNV offer and volunteer demand generation;
  • Act upon volunteer mobilization forecasting for online and onsite Volunteer assignments with UN host entities, particularly in supporting the development and timely submission of Descriptions of Assignments, confirmation of funds and review of registration request of local organizations to UNV Online Volunteering service
  • Support UN Country Teams in advocacy for volunteerism, including for International Volunteer Day (IVD) events.
  • Support advocacy campaigns with local volunteer involving organizations;
  • Draft routine correspondence and reports in accordance with standard internal procedures;
  • Support the Programme Analyst in compiling basic documentation and information and collecting data for routine correspondence and reports;
  • In close coordination with the Communications Associate in the Regional Office, support ithe preparation, dissemination and presentation of country-specific promotional information on the mandate and work of UNV with relevant development partners and the media.

Talent acquisition and volunteer support

  • Support the acquisition of local candidate talents in coordination with the Volunteer Services Centre (VSC) and as per the corporate talent acquisition plan;
  • Monitor the contractual status of all serving UN Volunteers and flag to VSC follow-up actions;
  • Maintain up to date contact records of all serving UN Volunteers and their recognized dependents;
  • Assist on the logistical and travel arrangements of arriving UN Volunteers and their recognized dependents;
  • Liaise with relevant UN Host Entities to facilitate government clearances, entry visas and resident permits of incoming UN Volunteers and their recognized dependents;
  • Provide the necessary support to UN Volunteers upon arrival, to open bank accounts as well as to complete forms required for residence permits, etc.;
  • Undertake tasks for the local support of the UN Volunteers and recognized dependents in the country, including in the cases of medical evacuation, security evacuations or death of a UN Volunteer;
  • Assist VSC in ensuring that all conditions are met before paying final entitlements to UN Volunteers at the end of their assignment.

Administrative and logistical support

  • Maintain inventories of all UNV-supplied, non-expendable equipment, and ensure records of all items purchased for UNV-executed projects are submitted to UNV headquarters;

  • Sport Report: Project manage the delivery of a new annual report with a range of partners that will seek to outline how sport can act on the climate / nature crisis.
  • Sport for Nature: Project lead the creation of a new Sports for Nature Alliance with the International Olympic Committee and other partners, which would raise the profile of sport on this agenda in the build-up to Paris 2024, and beyond.
  • Other sports initiatives: With others, consider new relationships on a case-by-case basis to take forward that would support the objectives of the new 5 year UNEP Medium Term Strategy (which focuses on climate, nature and pollution) with sport as a medium for action / awareness on this agenda.
  • Raising the profile of this agenda internally / externally: Raise the profile of UNEPs work with sport inside UNEP, with other UN partners and at key external moments during the course of the year, including a new Ambassador work plan.

  • Fundraising: Consider how funding for this work could be taken forward with other key partners;

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Manager for Asia and the Pacific or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Programme Support Associate will:

Support to UN Volunteer mobilization and management

  • Ensure an understanding of UNV’s mandate, key offers and the added value that UN Volunteer assignments by UN Agencies;
  • Support identification of volunteer placement opportunities and present UNV value proposition and volunteer modalities with the objective of maximizing international and national volunteer presence, including collaboration in the preparation of descriptions of assignment, with partner agencies and other partners;
  • Support briefings and debriefings for incoming and outgoing UN Volunteers, including personal support and guidance to UN Volunteers serving in the country;
  • Work closely with the Field Security Officer and provide support to the UN Designated Official to ensure a detailed understanding among UN Volunteers on all security-related issues;
  • Monitor the well-being and performance of serving UN Volunteers;
  • Support the deployment and assignment management of all UN Volunteer modalities;
  • Support the recruitment of national and international UN Volunteers as well as other administrative duties for placement and management of UN Volunteers assigned to the country in line with the conditions of service and in close coordination with the relevant organizational units;
  • Participate in UN thematic forces, conflict and post-conflict needs assessments to identify opportunities for volunteer placement;
  • Support development and implementation of the UNV country programme’s annual work plan, including reporting on UNV support funds and budget;
  • Assist on the logistical and travel arrangements of arriving UN Volunteers and his/her recognized dependents;
  • Maintain up to date contact records of all serving UN Volunteers, including their recognized dependents;
  • In close coordination with the Communications Associate in the Regional Office, support in the preparation, dissemination and presentation of country-specific promotional information on the mandate and work of UNV with relevant development partners and the media.

Emergency Support

  • Ensure regular monitoring of well-being and duty of care of the UN Volunteers;
  • Analyse the situation in the country and suggest respective actions to the supervisor;
  • Act as an emergency contact point for information updates on the safety and whereabouts of the UN Volunteers under any emergency conditions;
  • In close coordination with relevant organizational units and in contact with the Host Entities, update the lists of emergency entitlements and other allowances for the UN Volunteers;
  • Consolidate and update the lists of the UN Volunteers and their whereabouts in case of emergency;
  • Support evacuation and relocation of UN Volunteers, if applicable;
  • Keep updated on the continuity plans of the Host Entities;
  • Collect and analyze information of re-purposing of the UN Volunteer assignments.

Administrative and logistical support

  • Maintain inventories of all UNV-supplied, non-expendable equipment, and ensure records of all items purchased for UNV-executed projects are submitted to UNV headquarters;
  • Maintain general office files and keep information and reference material in a manner that allows easy reference and retrieval.

  • Experience working in the UN or other international development organization would be an asset;

Description of task

Under the overall guidance of the Unit Chief and the supervision of theJPO;

  • Project Design: With the YEA team in Nairobi, to oversee the Tide Turners Plastic Challenge Programme in the Pacific Region with the aim of securing 150,000 youth to participate in the programme in 10 countries in the region in accordance with the ISLANDS project in close coordination with SPREP and UNEP Pacific Office.
  • Partner mapping: Identify relevant implementing partners and youth and advocacy networks in 10 countries in the region that have strong youth networks in the target countries that can support the rollout of the programme in the region;
  • Project management: Support the implementing partners in the region to deliver on the objectives of the programme and to report back per the requirements of the funding agreements so that key KPIs are met;
  • Advocacy and communications: Support the UNEP Pacific Office in digital communications and in advocacy and ensure that the delivery of the Tide Turner programme is amplified through advocacy and communications plan across the region;
  • Donor reporting and evaluation: Oversee reporting and monitoring of partners' performance.
  • Support: When required, to support the Samoa office in its daily tasks.

Description of task

Cette description d'affectation correspond à des tâches génériques associées au poste en question afin d'établir une liste/pool de candidats qualifiés et disponibles pour développer les fonctions requises par les AFP en réponse à la situation humanitaire en Haïti. Les superviseurs de cette mission seront prévenus si le début du recrutement associé à cette mission est confirmé.

  • Fournir des conseils techniques pour élaborer, mettre en œuvre et contrôler les plans d'action de Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS - Santé mentale et soutien psychosocial) afin de répondre aux besoins de la population tout au long des phases de réponse et de rétablissement ;

  • Promouvoir une approche systémique pour intégrer la MHPSS dans les secteurs de la santé et les secteurs sociaux connexes, en coordination avec les agences et entités concernées ;

  • Fournir un soutien technique aux initiatives de renforcement des capacités en coordination avec les parties prenantes nationales et internationales impliquées dans la réponse humanitaire actuelle afin de développer une réponse MHPSS à plusieurs niveaux
  • Faciliter le développement de services communautaires de santé mentale ;

  • Coordonner avec toutes les parties prenantes pour renforcer la capacité du personnel des Primary Health Care (PHC - Soins de santé primaires) à fournir un ensemble de soins de santé mentale de base basé sur le programme d'action contre les lacunes en santé mentale de l'OMS - Guide d'intervention (mhGAP-HIG) dans le cadre de l'ensemble des soins de SSP ;

  • Coordonner et soutenir techniquement le développement des services psychiatriques ambulatoires ou hospitaliers de niveau secondaire afin de fournir un soutien en matière d'orientation et de supervision au personnel des PHC ;

  • Contribuer au développement et au renforcement des services psychiatriques spécialisés ;
  • Collaborer avec toutes les parties prenantes et tous les partenaires pour élaborer des matériels d'information, d'éducation et de communication (IEC) et sensibiliser aux besoins mentaux et psychosociaux afin de lutter contre la stigmatisation et la discrimination ;

  • Co-développer, en coordination avec les parties prenantes nationales, des systèmes de surveillance et de suivi ;

  • Fournir des conseils techniques aux organisations partenaires de la société civile et à d'autres entités, le cas échéant, sur les questions liées à la mise en place d'un programme solide de MHPSS ;

  • Aider à la mobilisation des ressources adéquates et durables pour le développement et la mise en œuvre des activités et programmes de MHPSS ;

  • Fournir un soutien programmatique au programme de santé mentale et de toxicomanie du bureau de pays ;

  • Rédiger des mises à jour périodiques sur les services MHPSS, partagées avec les secteurs et la direction concernés ; Rédiger et réviser des documents techniques et des produits d'information selon les besoins.
