Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Manager for Asia and the Pacific or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Programme Support Associate will:

Support to UN Volunteer mobilization and management

  • Ensure an understanding of UNV’s mandate, key offers and the added value that UN Volunteer assignments by UN Agencies;
  • Support identification of volunteer placement opportunities and present UNV value proposition and volunteer modalities with the objective of maximizing international and national volunteer presence, including collaboration in the preparation of descriptions of assignment, with partner agencies and other partners;
  • Support briefings and debriefings for incoming and outgoing UN Volunteers, including personal support and guidance to UN Volunteers serving in the country;
  • Work closely with the Field Security Officer and provide support to the UN Designated Official to ensure a detailed understanding among UN Volunteers on all security-related issues;
  • Monitor the well-being and performance of serving UN Volunteers;
  • Support the deployment and assignment management of all UN Volunteer modalities;
  • Support the recruitment of national and international UN Volunteers as well as other administrative duties for placement and management of UN Volunteers assigned to the country in line with the conditions of service and in close coordination with the relevant organizational units;
  • Participate in UN thematic forces, conflict and post-conflict needs assessments to identify opportunities for volunteer placement;
  • Support development and implementation of the UNV country programme’s annual work plan, including reporting on UNV support funds and budget;
  • Assist on the logistical and travel arrangements of arriving UN Volunteers and his/her recognized dependents;
  • Maintain up to date contact records of all serving UN Volunteers, including their recognized dependents;
  • In close coordination with the Communications Associate in the Regional Office, support in the preparation, dissemination and presentation of country-specific promotional information on the mandate and work of UNV with relevant development partners and the media.

Emergency Support

  • Ensure regular monitoring of well-being and duty of care of the UN Volunteers;
  • Analyse the situation in the country and suggest respective actions to the supervisor;
  • Act as an emergency contact point for information updates on the safety and whereabouts of the UN Volunteers under any emergency conditions;
  • In close coordination with relevant organizational units and in contact with the Host Entities, update the lists of emergency entitlements and other allowances for the UN Volunteers;
  • Consolidate and update the lists of the UN Volunteers and their whereabouts in case of emergency;
  • Support evacuation and relocation of UN Volunteers, if applicable;
  • Keep updated on the continuity plans of the Host Entities;
  • Collect and analyze information of re-purposing of the UN Volunteer assignments.

Administrative and logistical support

  • Maintain inventories of all UNV-supplied, non-expendable equipment, and ensure records of all items purchased for UNV-executed projects are submitted to UNV headquarters;
  • Maintain general office files and keep information and reference material in a manner that allows easy reference and retrieval.

Description of task

  • Fournir un soutien technique aux initiatives de renforcement des capacités en coordination avec les parties prenantes nationales et internationales impliquées dans la réponse humanitaire actuelle afin de développer une réponse MHPSS à plusieurs niveaux
  • Faciliter le développement de services communautaires de santé mentale ;

  • Coordonner avec toutes les parties prenantes pour renforcer la capacité du personnel des Primary Health Care (PHC - Soins de santé primaires) à fournir un ensemble de soins de santé mentale de base basé sur le programme d'action contre les lacunes en santé mentale de l'OMS - Guide d'intervention (mhGAP-HIG) dans le cadre de l'ensemble des soins de SSP ;

  • Coordonner et soutenir techniquement le développement des services psychiatriques ambulatoires ou hospitaliers de niveau secondaire afin de fournir un soutien en matière d'orientation et de supervision au personnel des PHC ;

  • Contribuer au développement et au renforcement des services psychiatriques spécialisés ;
  • Collaborer avec toutes les parties prenantes et tous les partenaires pour élaborer des matériels d'information, d'éducation et de communication (IEC) et sensibiliser aux besoins mentaux et psychosociaux afin de lutter contre la stigmatisation et la discrimination ;

  • Co-développer, en coordination avec les parties prenantes nationales, des systèmes de surveillance et de suivi ;

  • Fournir des conseils techniques aux organisations partenaires de la société civile et à d'autres entités, le cas échéant, sur les questions liées à la mise en place d'un programme solide de MHPSS ;

  • Aider à la mobilisation des ressources adéquates et durables pour le développement et la mise en œuvre des activités et programmes de MHPSS ;

  • Fournir un soutien programmatique au programme de santé mentale et de toxicomanie du bureau de pays ;

Description of task

Task description:

The UN in Viet Nam is looking for a highly qualified, professional UN Volunteer with disabilities to take the lead in the implementation of the UNDIS, as well as its Action Plans, in UN Viet Nam. The objective of this assignment is to provide technical inputs, coordination and administration for the implementation of the UNDIS Action Plan.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of RCO, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Conduct research to provide technical inputs to ensure the disability inclusion in major UN documents, including the Common Country Analysis, One Strategic Plan, UN Development Cooperation Framework, One UN Report, BOS (Business Operation Strategy) and other strategies and policies of different departments;
  • Provide inputs and updates in regular UN Country Team (UNCT) meetings on the progress of the UNDIS Action Plan implementation, as well as regular OMT meetings on the progress of the disability inclusion component in the BOS;
  • Promote disability inclusion in UNCT programming, BOS annual workplan, Common Back Office service, and other operational agendas;
  • Provide support to the UN Disability Inclusion Coordination Mechanism in implementing key activities outlined in the current UNDIS Action Plan;
  • Provide Secretariat support for the Coordination Mechanism, including following up with stakeholders to ensure implementation of the current UNDIS Action Plan, and other related duties as required;
  • Liaise with, collect and compile input from UN Agencies, Coordination Mechanism members, external consultants and other actors;
  • Support drafting of reports, articles and other documents relating to activities within the current UNDIS Action Plan;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support/arrangements in preparing events under the current UNDIS Action Plan, in coordination with other actors;
  • Assist with relevant communication activities;
  • Provide an interim report on the UN in Viet Nam’s implementation of the UNDIS, according to the UNCT’s accountability scorecard on disability inclusion;
  • Develop and finalize the next UNDIS Action Plan together with Coordination Mechanism members;
  • Undertake other relevant responsibilities under the UNDIS as necessary.

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Manager for Europe and CIS and within the coordination of OV Team Coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

a. Coordinating the Online Volunteering programme and service in Europe and CIS countries and focusing on:

  • Coordinate the engagement and promotion of online volunteering by contributing to networking efforts and building relationships with relevant organizations, delivering information meetings and workshops for target organizations and providing relevant information and assistance;
  • Assist with planning and organizing series of on-site and online public events on promoting volunteer modalities of UNV among UN Agencies, NGOs, UN Volunteers and other target groups, including in close coordination with ROECIS and UNV global teams;
  • Support ROECIS portfolio team to combine online volunteer services with onsite UN Volunteer services by coordinating the relationships management with UN partners;
  • Develop creative business solutions to extend the operation in the region.

b. Providing support to the users of UNV’s Online Volunteering service focusing on achieving the following results:

  • Respond to general queries including updating of standard messages;
  • Screen organizations’ applications from a given portfolio of countries submitted ensuring required information is complete, assessing compliance with established criteria, e.g. adherence to UN policies, accreditation with ECOSOC, verifying applicant organizations’ goals and activities through Internet research, and getting timely feedback from field teams, other;
  • Assist with organization and volunteer feedback monitoring and take action as and when relevant;
  • Screen online volunteering opportunities by organizations, ensuring clear task descriptions, context and expected development impact;
  • Guide users on other website-related issues and problem solving;
  • Actively participate in developing / reigning business requirement for continuous systems optimization (from the end -user and service administrator perspective).

c. Supporting Knowledge Management:

  • Support regional manager and UNV in delivering webinars, producing visibility tools, drafting knowledge products;
  • Generate and prepare data sheets, presentations on OV together with an analysis and evaluation including sharing information for RBM processes;
  • Regular follow-up the trend and brief regional manager and UNV team by proposing mitigation measures or new business solutions in OV;
  • Close follow-up online volunteering services providing to the partners and support Communication team to collect information, draft stories, articles, social media posts and other relevant materials for website, social media channels etc and knowledge sharing;
  • Edit and translate documents related to user journey guidance and other online volunteering content.

  • At least 3 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in programme management, implementation, business development, partnerships relation or other relevant programmes; experience with online/digital platforms and volunteerism are an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
  • Knowledge of work with United Nations is an advantage;
  • Experience in volunteer mobilization or working with civil society organizations of Europe and CIS region highly desirable;
  • Experience working in international organizations is an asset;
    • Excellent oral and written skills in English; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Have affinity with or interest in relationships management, programme implementation, business development with marketing, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is mandatory;
  • Working knowledge in another UN language (mainly Russian, French, Spanish) is an asset.

Others:

  • Proficiency in using computers and office software packages (MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Advance experience with database management and in handling of web-based management systems.

Assignment Remarks:

National UN Volunteer assignments are only open for Turkish citizens who have work permit in Turkey. Other countries’ citizens are not eligible to be shortlisted in NUNV assignments.

The duration of this assignment will be extended upon the successful deliverables of UN Volunteers in line with the expectations and targets of the assignment described in this Call for Application.

The current monthly living allowance of a national UN Volunteer in Turkey is TRY 7133 with a full coverage of private insurance and additional benefits ie access to learning platforms. There is an increase in monthly living allowance in each May. There is no pension and social security payment in UN Volunteer assignments, these costs are belonging to the person. The candidate can find the details of entitlements in the UNV Conditions of Service.
