Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Admin Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Coordinate, manage and support all the fleet management activities in the Office.
  • Implement effective fleet management that regularly monitors the fleet pool, saves cost and safeguards the investment of the organisation.
  • Apply UNHCR's fleet management strategy when preparing plans for purchase of important fleet assets. Conduct spend analyses using historical spend data to identify trends that can be used to plan procurement activities and Frame Agreements.
  • Plan for acquisition, maintenance and replacement of fleet assets. Develop local fleet management replacement strategies taking into account UNHCR short and medium term requirements.
  • Coordinate activities of implementing partners and/or contractors performing fleet related activities, and ensure that they understand and adhere to relevant UNHCR rules and procedures.
  • Respond to field requests for information and advice and coordinate responses from a range of HQ units to provide a clear, consistent and timely response to the field.
  • Collect information both in the field and in HQ, to ensure relevant and appropriate information is gathered and shared. Promote an understanding of concerns, objectives and priorities for fleet related issues by providing information or expertise to interested parties.
  • Infrastructure Support
  • Provide fleet management reports, customised reports, and gathers information on all fleet assets and provides in-depth reports periodically and when requested.
  • Monitor the quality and accuracy of fleet related data in relevant business systems. Compile and analyse statistical information, identify trends and developments in fleet related matters that will assist in decision making.
  • Disseminate, promote commitment to and monitor compliance with UNHCR's global policies, standards and guidance on fleet management.

Description of task

Under the guidance of Chief, Health and Nutrition Section and direct supervision of the Immunization Manager, the International UN Volunteer will carry out the following tasks:

The overall objective of the Immunization Officer post is to support UNICEF/WHO led COVID-19 vaccination roll out and revitalization of routine immunization as part of comprehensive contingency health response initiatives and programming,

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Support to programme development and planning
  • Closely coordinate with WHO and other developmental partners at national and sub-national levels to adapt National COVID Vaccine Deployment Plan (NCVDP) to reflect evolving contexts and to meet different potential conflicting requirements, while ensuring to achieve targets
  • Support collection and analysis of timely, comprehensive and current data to inform NCVDP and revitalization of routine immunization plan adaptation, and implementation and monitoring
  • Support proposal and resource mobilization materials development and report preparation to be submitted to different developmental partners
  1. Support Implementation of NCVDP and revitalization of routine immunization plan
  • Work closely with WHO and other developmental partners at sub-national level to develop and establish partnerships with any organization/network acceptable from different angles, including developing programme documents and monitoring indicators for partnership
  • Support to sustain close working partnership with all stakeholders through active and regular sharing of information and knowledge on evolving COVID pandemic, prevention and treatment options and build capacity of stakeholders
  • Provide technical and coordination, support to roll-out the recommended/adapted NCVDP and routine vaccine revitalization activities
  1. Monitoring and Analysis of coverage, vaccine stock and cold chain data, and keep monitoring implementation of interventions
  • Use simple tools like Excel, access, ODK or kobo-collect tools for data collection, analysis, and dashboard monitoring (Power BI or similar)
  • Prepare documentation/ report of the intervention for sharing with donors, partners. Good writing skills to prepare easily understandable reports

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Unit coordinator, the UNV will undertake the following tasks:

  • Supports the unit coordinator to ensure an adequate information management system for Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) in the JHRO database.

  • Contributes to the review of CRSV information at a field level for R&I Unit and MARA coordinator.

  • Ensures a regular information exchange, close coordination and collaboration with the Child Protection Section.

  • Provides expertise and develops assessments on CRSV as part of protection plans in the framework of Protection of Civilians (through participation in the Early Warning Cell, SMGP-P, Protection Cluster and other platforms).

  • Supports and/or participates in the work of Joint Protection Teams, Joint Investigation Missions, Joint Assessment Missions, and Ad hoc Missions and ensures that CRSV is consequently and systematically integrated into reports and follow up/action plans.

  • Provides training to MONUSCO’s civilian, police and military components on the prevention of and response to CRSV. WPA is expected to closely coordinate and collaborate with each mission component in order to ensure mainstreaming of CRSV concerns in mission policies and activities, supporting the inclusion of prevention and response activities on CRSV in strategies, Standard Operating Procedures, etc.

  • Strengthens and supports the work of JHRO in the provision of CRSV training for non-UN actors including for FARDC (Forces Armées de la RDC) and PNC (Police Nationale Congolaise);

  • Works within the existing Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) coordination mechanism to contribute to the development and strengthening of the referral pathway for survivors in line with Standard Operating Procedures for the SGBV Prevention and Response (IASC, 2008);

  • Participates in all SGBV fora (Protection Cluster, FAI, AMS, PP, Data and Mapping, etc)

  • Supports the Government of DR Congo with the implementation of the National Strategy against Gender Based Violence (GBV) where needed and coordinates this support with relevant UN agencies such as UNICEF, UNFPA and UNHCR.

  • Supports capacity building for local authorities on CRSV prevention awareness and on early warning and response to CRSV.

  • Provides expertise to and supports the development and implementation of programs addressing sexual violence, funded by the International Support and Stabilization Strategy (ISSSS).

  • Works as a focal point for planning and implementation of Quick Impact Projects (QIPs)related to CRSV.

  • Coordinates and shares sexual violence data with the ISSSS Monitoring & Evaluation Support Unit (EEST) where relevant and monitors the impact of ISSSS Sexual Violence interventions in the stabilization priority zones.

Description of task

Bajo la supervisión directa del Oficial de ADAP, el Joven Voluntario Nacional de las Naciones Unidas llevará a cabo las siguientes tareas:

  • Apoyo en la planeación e implementación de iniciativas de participación y movilización de adolescentes y jóvenes por la paz.
  • Participar en las reuniones de coordinación con el/la Coordinador del Proyecto y otros actores involucrados.

Description of task

En el marco de la autoridad delegada y bajo la supervisión de la Coordinadora de Gestión Fronteriza y Manejo de la Información o su representante designada/o, la/el Voluntaria/o de la ONU llevará a cabo las siguientes tareas:

  1. Apoyar en la implementación de la estrategia de intervenciones de los programas del área de Gestión Fronteriza y Manejo de la Información de OIM, asistiendo en las actividades de examinación, identificación y derivación de casos a través de la asistencia legal directa a población de interés de la OIM.
  2. Asegurar el cumplimiento de las políticas, herramientas, manuales y directrices de la OIM.
  3. Implementar las actividades enmarcadas en los proyectos de acuerdo al plan de acción de la OIM.
  4. Provisión de información y orientación a la población en movilidad humana.
  5. Brindar asesoría jurídica con respecto a la vulneración de derechos y acceso efectivo a la justicia.
  6. Brindar asesoría legal respecto al acceso a derechos (salud, educación, laboral, medios de vida, servicios de justicia) a población en movilidad humana sobre procesos de registro y regularización en Ecuador.
  7. Derivar los casos identificados y que requieran atención prioritaria a las entidades gubernamentales correspondientes acorde al requerimiento.
  8. Identificar, documentar y realizar el respectivo seguimiento a casos atendidos y derivados.

Description of task

Under the guidance of Chief, Health and Nutrition Section and direct supervision of the Immunization Manager, the International UN Volunteer will carry out the following tasks:

The overall objective of the Immunization Officer post is to support UNICEF/WHO led COVID-19 vaccination roll out and revitalization of routine immunization as part of comprehensive contingency health response initiatives and programming,

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  1. Support to programme development and planning
  • Closely coordinate with WHO and other developmental partners at national and sub-national levels to adapt National COVID Vaccine Deployment Plan (NCVDP) to reflect evolving contexts and to meet different potential conflicting requirements, while ensuring to achieve targets
  • Support collection and analysis of timely, comprehensive and current data to inform NCVDP and revitalization of routine immunization plan adaptation, and implementation and monitoring
  • Support proposal and resource mobilization materials development and report preparation to be submitted to different developmental partners
  1. Support Implementation of NCVDP and revitalization of routine immunization plan
  • Work closely with WHO and other developmental partners at sub-national level to develop and establish partnerships with any organization/network acceptable from different angles, including developing programme documents and monitoring indicators for partnership
  • Support to sustain close working partnership with all stakeholders through active and regular sharing of information and knowledge on evolving COVID pandemic, prevention and treatment options and build capacity of stakeholders
  • Provide technical and coordination, support to roll-out the recommended/adapted NCVDP and routine vaccine revitalization activities
  1. Monitoring and Analysis of coverage, vaccine stock and cold chain data, and keep monitoring implementation of interventions
  • Use simple tools like Excel, access, ODK or kobo-collect tools for data collection, analysis, and dashboard monitoring (Power BI or similar)
  • Prepare documentation/ report of the intervention for sharing with donors, partners. Good writing skills to prepare easily understandable reports

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:

  • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
  • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
  • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
  • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
  • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
  • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of please complete with the function of the supervisor the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Strategy:

  • Prepare plans for delivery of relief items according to operational needs.
  • Apply UNHCR's procurement strategy when planning for purchase of important commodities and services.
  • Through regular physical verification of Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE) establish their status, propose old and obsolete PPE for disposal and plan for the arrival of replacement items.

Operational Support:

  • Contributing within the Multifunctional team to Identify partners, in particular for supply chain projects, based on objectives, priorities, strengths and resources of the partner and/or contractor, according to criteria consistent with UNHCR rules and regulations.
  • Resolve difficulties in the local supply chain by finding solutions to problems and bottlenecks, and provide regular reports on supply chain activities, the status of requests and the availability of items in the supply chain.
  • Ensure timely customs clearance of consignments, and manage storage of goods according to "best practices" and UNHCR rules and regulations.
  • Maintain an efficient system for the release, distribution and redeployment of goods.
  • Coordinate transportation and distribution of relief items.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records on logistical activities and provide timely reports and updates both periodically and on request.
  • Coordinate activities of implementing partners and/or contractors performing supply related activities, and ensure that they understand and adhere to relevant UNHCR rules and procedures.
  • Through regular physical verification of PPE establish their status.

Infrastructure Support:

  • Evaluate purchase requisitions to ensure that specifications, delivery dates and all other requirements are in order.
  • Draft and dispatch quotation requests and/or tenders, assist in the evaluation of offers and draft bid-tabulations, and prepare proposals for award of contracts to the Committee on Contracts.
  • Prepare Purchase Orders and send confirmations, requests for inspection and other correspondence;
  • Monitor the manufacture/transport of ordered goods to ensure timely delivery.
  • Analyse matters relating to procurement activities, and deliver information on all procurement activities within area of responsibility. Provide guidance and advice on UNHCR procurement policies and procedures to support and assist requesting sections.
  • Implement effective asset and fleet management that regularly monitors the asset/fleet pool, saves cost and safeguards the investment of the organisation including receipt, inspection, registration and marking of new PPE, and organisation of the physical verification of PPE.
  • Ensure that PPE agreements are properly issued and signed.
  • Ensure proper preparation of disposal forms and cases for the Asset Management Board.

  • Business Support:

  • Analyse the existing infrastructure and ensure that it is optimally aligned with the operational needs.
  • Implement practical projects to improve supply performance that has clear objectives, timescales, tasks and resources defined. Monitor the project implementation and report on progress.
  • Monitor the quality and accuracy of supply chain related data in relevant business systems. Compile and analyse statistical information, identify trends and developments in supply chain related matters that will assist in decision making.
  • Disseminate, promote commitment to and monitor compliance with UNHCR's global policies, standards and guidance on supply chain management.

Description of task

Description of task

UNDP IICPSD’s initiative SDG AI Lab aims to harness the potential of frontier digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and GIS for sustainable development. The Junior Data Science Officer will support SDG AI Lab’s work in development and implementation of digital solutions using Data Science, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.

Under the direct supervision of UNDP IICPSD Technical Specialist, the UN Youth Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Assist the ongoing research efforts on application of big data and machine learning approaches to development issues.
  • Support the team in developing and implementing digital solutions to tackle issues in the field of economic and international development.
  • Contribute to data acquisition, preparation, analysis, and visualizations efforts.
  • Assist the organization of large datasets to get actionable insights from them.
