Description of task

Within delegated authority, the Regional Electoral Operations Advisor will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support the Regional Operations Advisor (ROA) by ensuring the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) implement operational plans;
  • Provide advice to the IHEC Governorate Election Offices on all electoral operational activities.
  • Support the development and capacity building of the IHEC Governorate Elections Offices (GEOs);
  • Establish and maintain professional and productive partnerships with the IHEC GEOs ;
  • Establish effective communication mechanisms with the national officers embedded with the IHEC GEOs;

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the overall supervision of the Chief, UNAMI Human Rights Office or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the International UN Volunteer Human Rights Officer will:

  • Conduct proactive outreach and relationship-building through individual meetings and focus groups with demonstrators and activists of different ages and genders; members of organizing committees; representatives of political and civil society organizations involved in the protests as well activists with no such affiliation; journalists, doctors and others actively involved in either participating in demonstrations or promoting the goals of the protesters particularly through social media;
  • Conduct human rights monitoring interviews with victims of arbitrary and incommunicado detention, abduction, torture and enforced disappearance;
  • Undertake monitoring visits to places of detention;
  • Proactively monitor all forms of traditional and new media, including social media, in order to monitor threats and intimidation against those participating in or supporting protests;
  • Through individual and group meetings with community leaders, victims’ representatives and civil society organizations develop and deepen existing information gathering networks within the communities affected by disappearances;
  • Support OHCHR/UNAMI engagement with relevant United Nations Treaty Body mechanisms and Special Procedures mandate holders, including facilitating the submission of Urgent Appeals and Urgent Actions on behalf of victims of arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances and torture;
  • Engage with government and non-governmental organizations to support the submission of state reports and stakeholder reports to UN human rights mechanisms and treaty bodies dealing with torture and enforced disappearance
  • Draft, review as appropriate, and ensure timely delivery of a variety of reports, briefings, analysis and other types of communications in compliance with established standards;
  • Ensure the timely entry of accurate and verified human rights cases into an established database in compliance with established standards;
  • Performs other duties as required.

Description of task

Under the overall guidance of the head of the Management Support Unit and direct supervision of the M&E Analyst, the UNV is expected to perform the following duties pertaining to the covid-19 Emergency Response Project implemented by the Sudan Federal Ministry of Health, and independently monitored by UNFPA:

Ø Lead the development of the project Monitoring and Evaluation Calendar for field/site visits covering facilities, institutions and beneficiaries of the covid-19 Emergency Response Project;

Ø Provide guidance and support to the project’s national UNVs/M&E to conduct quality project monitoring and reporting;

Ø Ensure that the monitoring activities are well documented using standard template and procedures and shared with responsible partners at Khartoum and state levels for follow up on actions;

Ø Contribute to development of results-based monitoring tools and procedures in the context of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Plan;

Ø Provide the Country Office with quality monthly update on implementation and progress of the covid-19 Emergency Reponses Project for development of quarterly reports for submission to the Project Management Unit for decision making;

Ø Collect inputs from the focus states - through the national UNVs and partners - on implementation, do quality check and contribute to the development of annual progress reports to stakeholders and donors;

Ø Analyze and asses how findings of monitoring, reviews, assessments and other studies related to the project are analyzed, disseminated and taken into account in ongoing project planning and management;

Ø Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning, and documenting innovation strategies, approaches, lessons learned and best practices arising from the project implementation;

Ø Ensure that requirements including impartiality and conflict of interest of team members are complied with. Ensure accurate documentation of any actual or perceived conflict of interest.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

· Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);

Description of task

Description of task

Under the overall supervision of the UNFPA Representative and direct supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst, the UNV is expected to perform the following duties:

Ø Ensure results-based monitoring is applied to the covid-19 Emergency Reponses Project through sound methodologies, tools and procedures in the context of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Plan;

Ø Develop state Monitoring and Evaluation Calendar and conduct regular monitoring visits to the sites (facilities, institutions, beneficiaries) of covid-19 Emergency Reponses Project, document these visits using standard template and follow up on actions with responsible partners both at state and Khartoum levels;

Ø Provide the Country Office with quality monthly update on implementation and progress of the covid-19 Emergency Reponses Project for development of consolidated quarterly reports for submission to the Project Management Unit for decision making;

Ø Provide the Country Office with quality inputs for conduct of the routine reviews and meetings of the project management, steering committee and stakeholders of the covid-19 Emergency Reponses Project;

Ø In close collaboration with the program field staff, provide technical assistance to the project’s implementing partners in monitoring and technical and financial reporting;

Ø Contribute to monitoring, assessments and reviews carried out by UNFPA and partners in the state

Ø Contribute to implementation of the overall state M&E plan, including collecting different project data to update the UNFPA Information Management System;

Ø Contribute to promoting knowledge sharing, continuous learning, testing and documenting innovation strategies, approaches, lessons learning and best practices.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

· Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);

· Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;

· Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.

· Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;

· Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;

· Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Description of task

Sous la supervision directe du/de la Chargé(e) de projet de l’ONUDC, le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies effectuera les tâches suivantes:

  • En tant que membre d'une équipe, aider à la préparation et à la mise en œuvre en temps voulu des activités d'assistance technique nationales et régionales, en mettant l'accent sur les efforts de renforcement des capacités visant à améliorer les réponses de justice pénale au terrorisme, en particulier dans le cadre du projet susmentionné pour la mise en œuvre des régimes de sanctions nationaux et internationaux et la prévention du financement du terrorisme, afin de remplir les mandats relatifs à la prévention du terrorisme conformément aux objectifs et politiques mondiaux ;
  • Fournir un appui à la Cheffe du Bureau de Programme de l'ONUDC au Maroc pour assurer la liaison et le suivi des demandes adressées aux autorités et entités nationales dans le cadre des programmes de prévention du terrorisme, de manière appropriée ;
  • Assurer la liaison et interagir efficacement et en temps opportun avec les collègues et les parties concernées à l'interne et à l'externe ;
  • Préparer divers documents écrits, tels que des documents de base et de travail, de la correspondance, des rapports d'évaluation et de réalisation, des exposés, des notes d'information, des résumés, des réunions d'information techniques, des points de discussion et des discours, et fournir des contributions pour l'établissement de rapports, de publications de fond et de matériel de formation se rapportant aux réponses opérationnelles de justice pénale fondées sur l'Etat de droit contre le terrorisme ;
  • Analyser les cas, incidents et tendances liés au terrorisme au Maroc, évaluer et identifier les besoins en matière de renforcement des capacités antiterroristes des entités nationales concernées, et élaborer des notes conceptuelles et des propositions de projets petinentes, à l'intention des donateurs ;
  • Assister et prendre des notes aux réunions, à la demande du/de la superviseur(e) ;
