Description of task

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of an international Political Affairs Officer in each region, Peace & Reconciliation Office the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

  • Collect, selecting and analyse information from diverse sources, including publications and the media, with special attention to the representation of all segments of society including vulnerable categories like minorities and women;
  • Support the monitoring of national, provincial and district level political developments and keep abreast of latest trends and developments in the area of assignment in accordance with the priorities established by the mission;
  • Coordinate to maintain up to date knowledge of events relating to political issues in general, and in particular areas of responsibility as well as thematic mandates;
  • Support in the development and maintaining of profiles/maps database for the political section, including: provincial and district profiles, tribal profiles, background of important personalities, and other directories, profiles, maps as requested;
  • Facilitate in maintaining contacts with regional/local civil and government officials/structures; community leaders; political parties and civil society representatives in areas of responsibility; Assisting in preparing summaries of articles from a wide variety of sources and provide inputs to reports;
  • Support the Office’s provision of good offices in line with the mandate;
  • Interpret from English into Pashto/Dari and vice-versa during meetings; Translate documents from English into Pashto/Dari whenever necessary;
  • Support visiting teams/missions as required;
  • Participate in periodic field missions in order to update the overall political situation;
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to officers in the Political Affairs Division; including arrangements for meetings, preparing documents etc.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Representative, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Contributes to the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the country programme by:
  • Participating in the identification and formulation of the CO programme and project proposals by compiling and analysing information in the subject areas of UNFPA assistance, compiling project documents and work plans and preparing tables and statistical data.
  • In coordination with the programme team, guiding the routine implementation of assigned projects, coordinating delivery of project inputs, and ensuring the participation of relevant stakeholders.

  • Assisting in the process and maintaining the records of hiring the individual consultants used to support the programme.

  • Contributing to the maintenance of the vendor portal.

  • Preparing and circulating COA authorization letters for programme related activities.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Senior Protection Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Through relationships with persons of concern, authorities and network of partners stay abreast of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the protection environment and provide advice to senior management.
  • Ensure that the perspectives, capacities, needs and resources of the persons of concerns are reflected in the protection strategy, planning processes and operations plan addressing the specific protection needs of women and men, children, youth and older persons, persons with disabilities, minority groups such as sexual minorities and persons living with HIV/AIDS;
  • Utilize the IDPs footprint during the planning process;
  • Coordinate the promotion of international refugee law principles and standards and also IDP legislation or policies ensuring that all sectors and clusters fulfill their responsibilities mainstreaming protection;
  • Coordinate the implementation and monitoring of programmes ensuring that identified protection needs, including an Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) approach, are adequately addressed;
  • Provide policy guidance and operational support to UNHCR and partners on all protection related issues;
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on protection issues to internal and external interlocutors; ensure legal assistance is accessible to persons of concern; liaise with competent authorities to ensure the issuance of personal and other relevant documents to persons of concern (civil documentation, in particular birth certificates);
  • Monitor, and assist with the intervention in cases of refoulement, expulsion and other protection incidents through working relations with governments and other partners;
  • Assist in the coordinated implementation and oversight of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all protection/solutions activities;
  • Ensure that durable solutions through voluntary repatriation, local integration and where appropriate, resettlement are sought and provided to the largest possible number of persons of concern;
  • Ensure through direct action and advocacy with more senior protection staff that the necessary resources are allocated to enable protection activities to identify and address protection and assistance gaps;
  • Support a consultative process with government counterparts at local levels, partners and persons of concern to develop and implement integrated strategies that address the key protection priorities, including, for example, child protection, education and SGBV, and solutions approaches;
  • Promote confidence building and conflict resolution among populations of concern, authorities and host communities;
  • Maintain protection presence through regular field missions and reports, making direct contact with persons of concern, host communities, local authorities and partners. In operations applying the humanitarian cluster system, contribute to ensuring that the response of the Protection Cluster is grounded in an AGD-compliant strategy which covers all assessed and prioritized protection needs of the affected populations;
  • Contribute to the Protection team's information management component which: provide disaggregated data on populations of concern and their problems; researches, collects and disseminates relevant protection information and good practices to enhance protection delivery and provide technical advice if necessary;
  • Ensure participatory, community-based protection and AGD approaches are included in, strategies and plans in the country operation;
  • Support persons of concern to develop structures that enhance their participation and protection.

Description of task

Le/la Volontaire des Nations Unies, travaillera sous l’autorité du Responsable Pays de UNCDF au Burkina Faso, la supervision directe de la Conseillère technique nationale et en étroite collaboration avec l'équipe Energie propre au niveau global de UNCDF, Le/la Specialiste en énergie renouvelable en charge de la promotion des Incubateurs (de produits solaires PV et foyers améliorés) et des prestataires de services de paiement effectuera les tâches suivantes :

  • soutenir la mise en œuvre de l’inititiative FERR-BF d'un point de vue technique en soutenant les Incubateurs (de produits solaires PV et foyers améliorés) et des prestataires de services de paiement pour la promotion de solutions d’énergies propres à grande échelle ;
  • s'engager avec les incubateurs, les Prestataires de Services de Paiement (PSP), Prestataires de Services Financiers (PSF), les ESCOs et promoteurs de foyers améliorés pour comprendre leurs opérations actuelles et leurs objectifs d'expansion des services aux clients du marché de masse ;
  • travailler avec les associations du secteur et d'autres organisations de soutien au niveau méso pour bâtir un écosystème propice à des solutions d’énergie renouvelable, en occurrence l’énergie solaire ;
  • Soutenir les incubateurs pour les services d’énergie renouvelable, en occurrence l’énergie solaire et la biomasse (les Foyers Améliorés) avec des subventions et d'assistance technique ou d’autres mécanismes leur garantissant l’accès aux ressources financières et aux nouvelles technologies et/ou meilleures pratiques ;
  • soutenir les PSFs, les PSPs (y compris les OTM et les Fintech) pour assurer le développement de produits et services financiers adaptés pour les consommateurs de produits et services énergétiques et pour les entreprises de services énergétiques (PAYG par exemple),
  • appuyer la structuration de partenariats entre les incubateus, PSP, PSF et ESCOs pour l’utilisation des nouvelles technologies dans l’offre des services d’energie renouvelable (le solaire PV et les Foyers améliorés);
  • rechercher activement des synergies entre les solutions d’énergies renouvelables, en occurrence l’énergie solaire, et les secteurs de l'économie réelle tels que l'agriculture, la santé, l'éducation, les entreprises et autres ;
  • établir des partenariats stratégiques avec des représentants clés du secteur privé, du secteur et de la société civile pour promouvoir conjointement le programme de développement des marchés de l’energie renouvelable, y compris, mais sans s'y limiter, le ministères en charge de l'Énergie, les alliances nationales du secteur (SONABEL, ABER, ANEREE, FESCOOPEL, etc.) ;
  • assurer l’appui/conseils et la formation des incubateurs et des prestataires de service de paiement intervenant dans l’offre des services d’énergie adaptés pour les populations vulnérables à l’aide des innovations digitales;
  • travailler en étroite collaboration avec d'autres institutions des Nations Unies pour promouvoir des solutions d’énergie solaire PV et les foyers améliorés;
  • fournir une assistance, le cas échéant, aux partenaires susmentionnés et à leurs consultants opérant dans le domaine de l'énergie renouvelable , en occurrence le solaire et les foyers améliorés ;

Description of task

Description of task

Within the terms of the organization’s delegated authority, and under the direct supervision of the MINUSCA Medical Officer/Chief Medical Officer, the National UN Volunteer Medical Nurse (Public Health) will be responsible for:

  • Performing epidemiological and COVID-19 health information/data work including tracking of all UN system cases, deaths in all duty stations and entities, related data analytics, creation and improvements of dashboard and interpretation and publication of data products for UN senior management.

  • Conducting outbreak preparedness and response activities to halt transmission of the virus amongst UN personnel and dependents in each locality. Following up on overarching systems like comprehensive preparedness checklists and initiatives to forecast COVID-19 hot spots and systematically prepare duty stations for COVID- 19 resurgence locally.

  • Following up and implementing the UN System COVID-19 technical and staff guidelines related to COVID-19 preparedness and response issued by MINUSCA (Division of Healthcare Management And Occupational Safety and Health) for both UN medical staff as well as UN personnel-at-large.

  • Following up and implementing guidelines for the vaccination deployment effort roll outs from Bangui to all the mission duty stations in Central African Republic.

  • Training and communicating with UN medical staff and UN personnel needs to be conducted continuously. COVID-19 communication products such as, presentations, FAQs, briefing notes, need to be developed and published to keep UN medical staff and UN personnel abreast of the latest scientific information.

  • Providing COVID-19 technical advice to staff, constant 24/7 surveillance of the latest scientific research and evidence needs to be conducted.

  • Review of lessons learned for future pandemic preparedness There is a necessity for MINUSCA to review what would be the “new normal” following this pandemic, and to embed the lessons learnt from the COVID-19 experience to create new and better structures and frameworks for outbreak/pandemic response in the future.

Description of task

Under the overall direction of the Mission’s Chief Medical Officer, the NUNV Medical Nurse will perform the following tasks:

· Attend to the MINUSCA UNOE Level 1 Clinic on a full-time basis and assist the medical officer(s) in the provision of both primary and secondary health care to all Mission personnel.

· Provide necessary primary healthcare care for minor injuries.

· Perform nursing care and generally all activities related to his/her professional capacity.

· Administer vaccinations to UN Mission personnel;

· Respond to emergency calls during and after office hours when necessary.

· Asist the Medical Officer(s) in providing adequate care, including stabilization of emergency cases;

· Ensures adequate requisition, storage and maintenance of accurate records of medical equipment, drugs and other consumables in the UNOE Level 1 Clinic and ambulances at all times.

· Ensure 24/7 serviceability of the UNOE Level 1 Clinic’s ambulances including medical equipment, consumables and pharmaceuticals.

· Conduct medical escorts for sick UN personnel from their accommodations to different medical facilities in Bangui.

· Assists in providing medical support during referrals and medical evacuation exercises when required

· Conduct medical escorts for very sick UN personnel during medical evacuations.

· Perform Infection control measures before and after transporting patients to/from the medical facilities.

· Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

· Calling for assistance from health care support personnel.

· Assists in maintaining records of patients' medical data, including consultations and treatment and maintains strict confidentiality with regards to patients’ medical records

· Document services provided to patients by charting in patients’ and section’s records.

· Under the supervision of the Head Nurse/ Chief Medical Officer, the NUNV will be responsible for provision of quality nursing services that will contribute to the good physical and mental health, i.e. general wellbeing, of the MINUSCA personnel.

· Provide Health Education and advise to the Mission personnel in addition to the general group health briefings.

· On-call as required and Cover for absences.
