Description of task
  1. Prepare accounting transaction reports & payments pertaining to the Regional Office and ensure that supporting documents are complete, follow up with relevant staff as necessary.
  2. Verify invoices and ascertain that the equipment, supplies or services they refer to were duly received or provided before proceeding with payment request.
  3. Prepare Yearly & monthly-end closure of accounts for, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates and produce financial reports for submission to relevant units. In addition, support with RO Cairo Yearly & Monthly-end closure.
  4. Settle travel expense claims for all Regional Office staff; coordinate with respective staff members to verify accuracy and ensure completion of the claims and supporting documentation.
  5. Assist in the review the financial activities including oversight of financial expenditure and accountability and financial analysis of Country Offices in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. In addition to support to RO Cairo Financial activities.
  6. Review and process accounting transactions including IOM services fees and the fees for the service providers on biweekly basis for Algeria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
  7. Process timely and accurately payroll for Saudi Arabia national staff and ensure proper documentation.
  8. Assist and support CO’s Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, including responding to queries, support preparing their budgets, and providing supporting documents when requested and processing their payments.
  9. Assist to provide administrative and logistical, support and coordination for movement events planned under IOM Saudi Arabia and Untitled Arab Emirates resettlement projects.
  10. Provide routine support and coordination for procurement of goods and services of the Country Office Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, ensuring that all received goods are in accordance with the terms and specifications of the respective Purchase Orders (POs). and that all procurement processes made in the office are in line with IOM instructions and guidelines and coordinated with the Procurement and Supply Unit, as needed.
  11. Assist the timely preparation of Financial and administrative reports and other relevant documentation for the region, as appropriate.
  12. Assist in preparing the annual budget for Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates, in coordination with the relevant project managers. Monitor the budget control process and analyze variances between budget(s) and actual expenditures and assist in the preparation of budgets for new projects as needed.
  13. Assist in the preparation of the sustainability reports and financial analysis for Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
  14. Assist the Regional office in the financial resources management control; assist in budget reviewing, monitoring and control and facilitate project activation in PRIMA and revise BNPs/budgets.
  15. Responsible for vendor creation process for RO, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
  16. Assist & support the implementation of internal controls in Gulf Country Offices (Saudi Arabia & United Arab Emirates) and compliance with financial policies, procedures, instructions, rules and regulations, including prevention of fraud and mismanagement.
  17. Prepare and ensure proper E-filling for the admin & financial transactions for Gulf and RO Cairo accounts. This include ensuring all documents are scanned and in order for audit trail.
  18. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Description of task
  1. Support in the review and assessment of existing processes, in close coordination with Country Offices (CO) management and the Regional Office (RO), and recommend and lead successful implementation of process improvements in line with the emerging Business Transformation
  2. Organize monthly meetings with the 15 Country Offices in MENA (FP nominated by COs management), including preparation of agenda, recording of minutes, preparing and delivering presentations underscoring pain points, challenges, areas of improvement, best practices and how best to support the field offices.
  3. Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Regional Adviser and Head of Health Systems in Emergencies Lab (HSEL) at the Department of Universal Health Coverage/Health Systems (UHS), World Health Organization Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (WHO EMRO), the UN Volunteer International Specialist will:

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of Regional Adviser - Evaluation (please complete with the function of the supervisor), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

The post provides support to the evaluation portfolio as it relates to EAPRO’s regional evaluation strategy and its associated Annual Workplan. The UNV Evaluation Officer will be tasked with the following:

  1. Support the RA-Ev (and / or MCES) on major evaluations and related evaluative work
  • Gather key background documents for use in the scoping and execution of evaluations
  • Support the process for the development of evaluation terms of reference, which includes managing and/or guide consultants in delineating the scope of the evaluation and engaging in consultations with evaluation stakeholders
  • Participate in procurement and recruitment of the evaluation team, which includes reviewing of proposals submitted by preparing tabulation of applicants background, skills and experience that will feed into the selection process;
  • Collect and present relevant information for all phases of the evaluation in a concise and digestible format for use by consultants
  • Examine interim products and drafts report; consolidate comments by all reviewers for transmission to the consultants
  • Support evaluation report editing and formatting for publication
  • Knowledge management (KM): help develop the electronic repository of evaluation-related publications (UNICEF uses SharePoint for its KM), reports and data sets for use in the evaluation and maintain until project finalization
  • Provide quality professional support to ongoing EAPRO Evaluation section activities, including background research and scoping for upcoming evaluations.

  1. Provide support in the management of ad-hoc evaluative work as stipulated in the Regional work plan:
  • To provide quality support to drafting concept notes, dissemination of reports, including contributing to scanning of recent articles and publications to keep abreast of new approaches in evaluation and partnership for evaluation
  • Gathering research evidence, and other inputs to support evaluations, including design and support to colleagues in online polling, surveying, and rapid data collection
  • Support methodology related work in the evaluation section of EAPRO
  • Promote the evaluation function in the region
  • Undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

  1. Provide support to systems development and maintenance of performance data and reporting for the evaluation function:
  • Further develop team performance monitoring systems and ensure these are updated on a regular basis against workplan objectives and targets

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Manager for Asia and the Pacific or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Programme Support Associate will:

Support to UN Volunteer mobilization and management

  • Ensure an understanding of UNV’s mandate, key offers and the added value that UN Volunteer assignments by UN Agencies;
  • Support identification of volunteer placement opportunities and present UNV value proposition and volunteer modalities with the objective of maximizing international and national volunteer presence, including collaboration in the preparation of descriptions of assignment, with partner agencies and other partners;
  • Support briefings and debriefings for incoming and outgoing UN Volunteers, including personal support and guidance to UN Volunteers serving in the country;
  • Work closely with the Field Security Officer and provide support to the UN Designated Official to ensure a detailed understanding among UN Volunteers on all security-related issues;
  • Monitor the well-being and performance of serving UN Volunteers;
  • Support the deployment and assignment management of all UN Volunteer modalities;
  • Support the recruitment of national and international UN Volunteers as well as other administrative duties for placement and management of UN Volunteers assigned to the country in line with the conditions of service and in close coordination with the relevant organizational units;
  • Participate in UN thematic forces, conflict and post-conflict needs assessments to identify opportunities for volunteer placement;

  • Act as an emergency contact point for information updates on the safety and whereabouts of the UN Volunteers under any emergency conditions;
  • In close coordination with relevant organizational units and in contact with the Host Entities, update the lists of emergency entitlements and other allowances for the UN Volunteers;
  • Consolidate and update the lists of the UN Volunteers and their whereabouts in case of emergency;
  • Support evacuation and relocation of UN Volunteers, if applicable;

Administrative and logistical support

  • Maintain inventories of all UNV-supplied, non-expendable equipment, and ensure records of all items purchased for UNV-executed projects are submitted to UNV headquarters;

  • Knowledge of volunteerism and previous experience in a volunteer organization is an advantage;
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
  • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
  • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4x4 over rough terrain; (if not applicable, delete)
  • Sound security awareness;
  • Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System
