Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of [Programme Policy Officer] or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV [ Nutritionist] will:

  • Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various nutrition related activities and processes supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
  • Participate in regular field visits and meetings to gather and verify information needed to understand the needs of the most vulnerable communities and targeted groups.
  • Sensitize WFP’s beneficiaries and local communities on nutrition information and be able to answer any nutrition queries raised by the beneficiaries at the community level as advised by the direct supervisor
  • Undertake standard data entry tasks in accordance with defined systems, to ensure information is organized and readily available.
  • Support the management and implementation of the community level nutrition projects to ensure that the various nutrition activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepare a range of reports by reviewing and interpreting analyzed data (e.g. project status, performance)
  • Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data for the nutrition projects and ensure consistency of information presented to partners.
  • Closely collaborate with functional units to support effective collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Coordinate and connect with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to implement and follow up on community activities.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and field visits to project sites for evaluating project efficiency, identifying problems, and instituting corrective measures.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the head of Gaza Office, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:

  • Provide WFP Gaza office with ICT support services in compliance with WFP IT Hardware and software standards.
  • Compliance with WFP information security and data protection rules.
  • Maintain a backup plan to backup all WFP Gaza office data and mail files on daily basis.
  • Monitor network of WFP Gaza office for viruses, intrusions, and any other mal-functions.
  • Provide support to WFP TEC unit when upgrading to a new version of Windows, Windows Server, MS Office 365 or other software products.
  • Provide support to WFP TEC unit to implement an ICT Business Continuity and Disaster-Recovery Plan (BC/DRP) for WFP Gaza office including Gaza DRP Offsite located in UNRWA premises.
  • Work with WFP TEC unit with emerging plan to expand or activate the Emergency Operation Center (ECC) and Operation rooms located or to be located in Gaza UNDP/UNSCO/UNRWA premises.

  • Sound knowledge of Windows domains and Services such as but not limited to Active Directory, File and Print Servers, and Domain functions (e.g. DC; DHCP; DNS).

Description of task

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Head of Communications or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Communications Assistant will:

  1. Conceptualize and suport the design of visuals, infographics and data vizualisations for a range of products and materials for WFP Palestine’s internal and external communications
  • Using input from the Communications team, transform communications messages into infographics or other graphic products in a professional, appealing and timely manner;
  • Draft and layout annual reports, formal publications such as case studies or technical research and ensure that key messages come across clearly and in an interesting way;
  • Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, web and interactive presentations/briefings to convey food security messages in simple and comprehendible manner;
  • Provide genuine and well-thought out ideas for complex issues across a range of audiences for WFP’s internal and external communications products.

  1. Maintain and strengthen WFP Palestine CO branding, reports, focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Safeguard and ensure that all publications, reports and products are produced in line with the graphic guidelines provided by WFP globally;
  • Understand, keep current with, and apply data visualization techniques and strategies for data in all media.

  1. Support in the Design and layout of information products including routine public reports, focusing on achievement of the following results:
  • Support and lead the design process of reports and presentations for printing, electronic distribution and in-person delivery;
  • Layout weekly, monthly and other recurrent reports in close cooperation with the relevant units;
  • Draft a Design templates for new publications and products in line with graphic guidelines and in close cooperation with the relevant units;
  • Maintain templates (Word, PowerPoint etc) and give technical support to use those templates among the team;
  • Improve and edit art-works, photos, charts and other graphic elements;
  • Assist in establishing and be responsible for maintaining the photo archive.
