Under the direct supervision of the Chief Service Management Unit and overall supervision of the Chief Field Technology Section, the UN volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

a. Timely and effective IT technical assistance and support to the users including software/hardware installation and operational support Serving as the first point of contact for the users seeking technical assistance:

Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.

• Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by users.

• Walk the users through the problem-solving process.

• Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel, where and when appropriate.

• Pass on any feedback or suggestions by the users to the supervisor.

• Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the local workstation.

• Assist with onboarding of new users.

• Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.

• Manage PC setup and deployment for new Staff using standard hardware, images and software.

• Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required.

b. To provide timely and effective common IT support related to computers and peripherals

Provides user support for computers, printers and laptops/notebooks, docking stations, peripherals and handhelds.

• Resolves and closes all calls passed on from the first line, and, as necessary, seeks further support from third line, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), or external vendors for resolution.

• Keeps the users informed of their calls' status as appropriate.

• Keeps ICT Specialist informed of notable trends, solutions, fixes, delays that are in effect and any new processes.

• Provides support for Conference room and Video Conference setup.

• Assists to plan and implement new IT initiatives or migration projects, including rollout of new installations, upgrades of hardware, software, or operating systems.

• Provide accurate information on IT products or services

• Record events and problems and their resolution in logs

• Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures

• Report issues to the IT unit for escalation.

• Perform other tasks as directed by the Supervisors.

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Under the direct supervision of the Multimedia Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Writing news and feature stories for the mission’s website and other digital platforms;
  • Writing scripts for long-form audio-visual content for distribution by UNHQ and micro-videos for the Mission’s social media platforms;
  • Proactively identifying, researching and conducting the necessary interviews for such stories;
  • Identifying and commissioning/delegating news and feature stories to other Communications and Public Information CPI colleagues mission-wide;
  • Editing news stories, feature stories and other print material produced by other CPI colleagues;
  • Travelling, when needed, to other states to cover stories and events;
  • Assisting in adopting print material for use online, on social media etc., and vice versa;
  • Providing and/or verifying content to and doing the graphic design of print and online products (calendars, banners, billboards, posters, leaflets, brochures, factsheets, newsletters, the Mission and UNCT magazines, etc.) produced by CPI colleagues or, occasionally, submitted for design by other UNMISS sections or UN agencies, funds and programmes;
  • Liaising with UN agencies, funds and programmes about joint print or online products;
  • Assisting in following up administrative matters such as daily submission of story ideas by field offices and technical evaluation of content and reach (including social media analytics);
  • Assisting the Multimedia Coordinator in developing material for and conducting capacity building of relevant skills for national staff;
  • Design clear, engaging graphic materials catered to target audiences, using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Spark/Canva, Illustrator, and/or InDesign (e.g. logos, branded promotional materials, web site and social media graphics, quote cards, posters, flyers, publication layout and other marketing materials as needed);
  • Performing other duties as assigned by CPI Section Chief and the Multmedia coordinator.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of UNFPA Program Analyst or her designated mandated representative(s), the National UN Volunteer will:
Support UNFPA team in the implementation of project activities.
Contribute to drafting of media briefs, social media communication, and documentation of good practices, human stories and stories of success as well as organization of public events.
Maintain close working relationships with the media, including editors and journalists in key national and international news outlets.
Regularly and consistently monitor media publications in the thematic areas related to the Project, providing timely advice to the Project Coordinator and UNFPA Communication and Advocacy Manager, flagging the issues of concern, suggesting corrective actions to address them.
Contribute to the development and implementation of behaviour changing campaigns and awareness raising information materials.
Maintain solid working relationships with the companies-signatories to the Declaration for Gender Equality and Prevention of Domestic Violence. Provide technical support to those signed the Declaration to better implement SDGs (Goals 5 and 8) in their day-to-day operations and business strategies, and document good practices for experiences sharing.
Explore opportunities and mechanisms for engaging civil society and private sector in responding to the needs of vulnerable groups of population affected by COVID-19.
Help to maintain 4 Hands Happiness web-site and social media through drafting news items and event reports.

  • Support the general Education (EDU) Sector tasks in information management, in addition to some administrative tasks in EDU;
  • Process administrative tasks that include (but are not limited to):
  • Support Sector coordination team in compiling, consolidating and documenting sector results and progress;
  • Support the preparation of general reports, assessments, dashboards, situation analyses reports, and other sector related documents;
