Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief of Information Systems Management Unit or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

  • Assist with gathering, organizing, and analyzing information for the identification of gaps and trends, production of forecasts, and drafting of analytical reports and assessments to support UNITAD’s structural investigation, investigative interviews and case building activities.
  • Undertake in-depth research and analysis of complex political, military, paramilitary, and other related activities in cases involving serious breaches of international humanitarian law, such as genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes, including sexual and gender-based violence.
  • Liaise closely with investigators, lawyers, information and evidence officers to identify and analyze evidence material and further investigative leads.
  • Assist national prosecutors, police or law enforcement agencies with investigative and/or prosecutorial activities.
  • Assist with classifying, managing and transferring confidential information by using UNITAD’s specialized technological tools and information management processes, in consultation with information management / technology expertise.
  • Maintain an understanding of developments/events relevant for the implementation of UNITAD's mandate through the monitoring and collection of data/information from multiple sources, including UNITAD components, UN Country Team (UNCT), Iraqi judicial/military/civilian authorities, NGOs, media and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to effective working relationships within UNITAD and with the UNCT and relevant external actors and organizations such as government officials, civil society actors and UN entities by participating in briefings and conferences.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be required to support the team.
Bachelor degree or equivalent
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a relevant area, such as political science, international relations, foreign affairs, criminology, law or area related to information systems management and evidence management is required. A first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with relevant training and/or two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in intelligence or information analysis, political science, international relations, or other relevant programmes; experience in research, information analysis and drafting of analytical products is required. Experience working in a field- or fact-finding mission is an asset, experience working in the UN or other international development organizations is an asset.

  1. Under the supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Officer, the International UN Volunteer/ Specialist will undertake the following tasks:

    Essential

    Social media management and visualization:

    • Manage UNDP Kazakhstan social media - Twitter, Instagram, Facebook: a) develop content strategy; b) plan content posting; c) perform regular engagement monitoring and analysis;

    • Develop and design the (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) ;

    • Undertake social media audit at the end of 2021;

    • Design infographics, presentations and other corporate material (leaflets,

      brochures, manuals) disseminated to the Government, partners, donors, public;

    • Identify innovative ways and new communications tools to display / promote the work of UNDP Kazakhstan;

    • Support the communication team in developing digital content such as videos, photo exhibits, podcasts, etc. to promote key themes (climate change, inequalities, gender equality), major events and key programme results.

      Website management:

    • Regularly update UNDP Kazakhstan website content based on the corporate requirements in cooperation with the ICT and communication team;

    • Contribute to the UNDP Kazakhstan website content development and design;

    • Build the research and publications section on the website as a repository of

      the knowledge materials produced by UNDP Kazakhstan.

      Communication and advocacy materials/capacity building:

    • Identify innovative opportunities and new communications tools and platforms to display the key work of the UNDP Kazakhstan;

    • Assist the Communication team with any tasks related to communication and advocacy (producing stories, press releases, speeches, etc.);

    • Provide trainings for UNDP Kazakhstan staff on communications and advocacy for further development.

      Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

    • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);

    • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;

      • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities;

      • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;

      • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;

      • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering

        service whenever technically possible.

Multi-media content production and management

  • Produce and archive digital communication materials including poster, leaflet, and brochure or other visual materials (photos, video and footages) related to event/activity.

  • Support the development of human-interest stories for WFP’s online presence and assist in updating the WFP Cambodia website.
  • Work closely with editors/writers/designer and relevant colleagues on communication-related product design and/or media-, social-media and web-based content development
  • Assist in managing WFP’s social media platforms, monitor their daily engagement and report on their monthly traffic including reach and engagement

Media Relation

  • Maintain and update media directory (national, and key regional and international)
