Bajo la supervisión directa de Jefe de Experimntación del Laborario de Aceleración, el Joven Voluntario Nacional de las Naciones Unidas llevará a cabo las siguientes tareas:

  • Contribuir en el diseño, implementación y análisis de carteras de experimentos llevados a cabo como parte de los ciclos de aprendizaje del Laboratorio de Aceleración de Guatemala.
  • Las actividades pueden incluir apoyo en la organización y preparación de materiales para talleres, revisión de literatura, desarrollo de instrumentos para recolección de datos, recolección y sistematización de información, análisis de datos utilizando el software R, reportes, entre otros.
  • Cualquier otra actividad que se requiera o sea asignada por el supervisor.

Además de lo anterior, a los Voluntarios de la ONU se les insta a integrarse al mandato del programa VNU en el marco de su asignación y promover la acción voluntaria a través de la integración en las comunidades en el desarrollo de su trabajo. Como tales, los Voluntarios de la ONU deben dedicar parte de su tiempo de trabajo a alguna de las siguientes actividades recomendadas:

Under the direct supervision of the responsible Video Conference Unit Supervisor, the UN volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Testing equipment and setting-up the necessary Wide Area Network (WAN) links before conferences. Operating the relevant room equipment during the conferences. The incumbent must over-see the entire conference to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly;
  • Ensuring that the equipment necessary for each video and audio conference is tested and working properly. This will require working knowledge and experience on:
    • Tandberg, Cisco, Polycom, and Accord videoconferencing endpoints, gateways, and multipoint control unit products;
    • Various short-haul and long haul, high-speed data carrier equipment (eg. High Speed Line Driver (copper/fiber) equipment);
    • Cisco Switches and Routers;
    • LAN/ WAN protocols and technologies; and
    • Have an overall understanding of satellite communication technologies.
  • Assist with the Maintenance & Operation of Audio Conference Equipment, Polycom Soundstation, Interpretation System,BGAN INMARSAT Satellite Terminal, Thuraya Satellite Phone and Mobile Phones;
  • Assist with setting up of Public Addressing system (PA) equipment, for different kinds of events and meetings;
  • Assist with the distribution and return of CITS equipment with Inventory Management functions, such as receipt, inspection, issue, return-to-stock, write-off, shipments and stock checks;
  • Assist with the maintenance and operation of the WAN in terms of monitoring, tracking, and logging events to provide input for the network engineers;
  • Perform other duties as required.
